TheSmoke4CP - National MU
TheSmoke
Ideas and public discussion can be very beneficial in helping to keep this game going, yet often countries overlook that and can become stagnant and boring. I am looking to push an idea, not new, but something that may change aspects of our community and bring something potentially exciting. The idea of a national MU has been tossed around before, but never finds too much traction. The major reason always seems to come down to community and individuality, so I hope to explain why this concern can be diluted.
I think the best approach to this situation is to slowly have MU’s bring their soldiers to the Canadian Civil Defense MU. Every MU that wishes to merge is given enough regiments to support their member base. Their Commanders will run as Captains and maintain control over their respected regiments. All slave pits and/or Communes supplies will stay exactly the same as the currently are, and MUs will run them just the same as always! I have been working in a CAF commune, and communicating in the High Command PM thread for many months now without actually being in the MU, and have not faced any issues. MU’s will lose their own personal chat feed, but I really don’t see how that would destroy a tight knit community. If anything, it will make MU’s stronger as their communities and personalities will be more open to the public.
We have been watching the game change recently with MU’s gaining more abilities and functions. This is why I think acting now can help put Canada up front, and utilize our strength on the battlefield. For our size, Canada does pack a punch, yet we are not a powerhouse nor are we shitting gold bricks, so the better we use the available advantages, the stronger we become. These functions are:
1) Active and Accurate Orders. With a national MU, we will be able to keep better up-to-date Daily Orders due to the larger amount of leaders. Commander, two 2nd Commanders, and Captains for every regiment. Since the Commander would most likely be the MoD or dMoD, we would have updated orders immediately to shift focus when and where needed.
2) Ability to Compete. We have recently seen the return of MU tournaments, and as usual Canadian MU’s are pouring out large amounts of damage, but for their size, we are usually left out of the running for the big prizes. If we were able to combine several of our prominent MU’s, we would be very competitive and have a chance of taking home large amounts of Money or Gold.
3) Activity and Communication. By having more people together, activity, communication, ideas, challenges etc. will be increased, helping to spur more Canadian community. Also, there may be a new MU chat feature introduced within the next few months, which would be more efficient and effective with more people in one spot. This could be ideal for supplying Canadians in war time situations.
4) Booster Packs. These little fellas were recently introduced as a pure gold grab by the admins. No other way to shake it, however, they can be quite effective for soldiers. If we have a National MU, with up to 100 soldiers in D4, a level 3 Damage Booster would cost 0.2 gold per soldier. This could be very enticing and effective for all those sugar daddies out there!
In all I think if we can muster the courage to try this out, Canada could really come out top military wise. We should expect a lot of fighting in the near future, and this is a potential step in the right direction. I know that this could be compared to the old CAF, which is before my time, however we no longer supply MU’s, so I think the biggest issue of preferential treatment is not really valid. The Command structure in our MU would start with our MoD department, with the most active and knowledgeable Canadians helping out. Each MU joining would get their own regiments, and be able to set up their original Commanders as Captains. Every soldier is urged to support their personal MU avatars just like before, and be proud of it.
I know that this is a very rough idea or layout of what would happen, but it is a start. I would like to further open discussion between MU Commanders to communicate ideas, concerns and other areas of interest. Let the critiquing begin!
Cheers,
TheSmoke

This would work if given a chance.
He said CHANCE!
😉 he didnt; say harrison though
He said Harrison!
Sounds viable, and if it does work, it could promote national unity and increase our badly tarnished image in the international scene.
Regarding ability to compete, United Aggression is very competitive and they are only 10 members. Cordis Die is also very competitive and they are a relatively small number of members. If the goal is to be competitive in tournaments like Brothers in Arms, a concentration of big hitters in a single regiment is required.
I am not a fan of a National MU. Accurate and active Battle Orders can easily be achieved without a national MU. Well organized MU's can provide Battle Boosters without nationalization. Not all MU's have slave pits, and "national" organizations have a poor track record of self sufficiency.
Great sound idea but you will never get everyone on board... However with that being said if you could funnel new players or older less active players into one MU you could do random boosters that would have potential for being largely beneficial.... Set a standard time every day/few days so that players could try to be on line and there, just like the CAF timed strikes of times gone past.... Hybrid this idea and it could be very effective over time. However smaller groups can manage to be as or more effective by themselves as we are seeing out of the current structure. Good thought Smoke 🙂
This is never going to happen for so many reasons that are to numerous to state. I see the obvious bonuses but still never going to happen.
Provided eCanada's population doesn't start growing, the reduced cost for booster packs is a good point. The rest I'm unsure about and I wouldn't want to see any integration with the MoD and the MU until its worked out what the status of the other MUs would be compared to before.
If the MU could be built with the necessary infrastructure for supply communes or some other sort of aide for members. I doubt that players in established MUs would move (eg. CoI, CD), but it could work for national strikes.
Alternatively, all of the current MU commanders could be instructed on when strike times are and Canada could hit as a national army and not a single MU. That for sure would be much easier and would garner support.
Id like to see this work out, i really do. But people don't like change, and this is a big one. You may have to push the shit out of this to gain any traction.
There's no way to push it. Govt holds no cards in this.
Individuality > Country unity
its a great idea and the benefits are there for sure.... but the current MUs vary in many ways as far as activity, supplies, competitions and pure output... bring that all in will have a large impact on the MUs and mass PM threads amongst the new Regiments will be formed to keep some of that luster alive
I would love to see a 1000 man Canadian Army tearing $hit up on a daily basis, but I just dont see it in the near future
Voted for band of brothers, if you ever need a hand PM me and il see what I can do
