[Congress Analysis Report] What Just Happened...?

Day 2,259, 23:37 Published in Norway Denmark by Joshua Morriseau

Hey everyone! Im back with another analysis of our Norwegian Congress elections for January. This month had many factors in it which made for some very interesting results. I just want to note this is not the view of the Government or any party and represents nothing but the math and my own personal opinions. I apologize for any mistakes there may be in the math but I am pretty sure it is all correct. Lets first take a look at the comparisons from December to January first.

December 2013, Total Votes:60

#1 Teknockatene 19votes or 31.67%

#2 Bondepartiet 15votes or 25%

#3 Norwegian Communist League 11votes or 18.33%

#4 Free Liberty 9votes or 15%

#5 TP The Party 6votes or 10%

January 2014, Total Votes:57

#1 TP The Party 21votes or 36.84%

#2 Teknockatene 16votes or 28.07%

#3 Norwegian Green Party 14votes or 24.56%

#4 Norwegian Communist League 6votes or 10.53%

There were major changes during these elections which haven't bin seen, at least since I have bin here or started doing these reports. Lets analyze each individual party's results and look into some of the factors that decided the outcome.

TP The Party
Overall: +15votes or +18.07%

TP did have some amazing results. This is the first time since Ive started doing these reports that they have placed higher than third place during Congress elections. During these elections we had just 5 possible candidates, something which we have not seen before. You see what happened was that the regions many people were running in were wiped before elections which caused a lot of people to be dropped from the lists. This left TP with the only party to have more than one candidate running and the two running were two of Norway's most recognized politicians which is why I believe their vote increased by so much. I would be surprised if they managed to hold this position next elections should they go smoothly like they previously have. With just 12 members and 21 total votes cast that means they attracted voters from other parties and those without parties.

Teknockatene
Overall: -3votes or -3.6%

This is the first time that Teknockatene has bin shoved out of the number one spot since the start of these reports. They also continued in their downward trend in terms of the vote share. They to were also affected by only having one candidate which could of lead to less votes being cast for them. As well their party membership has seen a slight decrease. 61.54% of members turned up to vote.

Norwegian Green Party
Overall: 14votes or 24.56% *First Election*

This was the first Congress elections for the Norwegian Green Party making BloodTrail the first elected Representative from the party. There was a voter turn out of 93.33% with 14 of 15 members casting votes. Being a relatively new party they had the opportunity to have a more active membership during their first elections and have benefited from more media coverage than any other party in Norway as well as being the fastest growing party in Norway. The biggest question during this month will be, does the NGP have any staying power or will the party fade?

Norwegian Communist League
Overall: -5votes or -7.8%

This has been the first time we have seen the NCL fall this low in terms of numbers. The NCL has seen its membership fall but during an election that only saw four parties competing one would have thought that every party would have seen increases in their vote share. With 6 out of 11 members that comes out to 54.54% of members casting votes. This month will be crucial for the NCL to stay relevant and attract its voters back.

Other Major Changes/Influences

Candidates Dropped
All parties were subject to their candidates being dropped. This was a result of a remnant of the old system where it mattered which region you ran in. Because regions were conquered by the Brits that many people had run from it meant that the candidates from that region were dropped. More than half of all candidates were dropped which has had serious effects on the outcome of the elections and led to Norway having just a five man Congress, something that is very unusual for any nation.

Potential PTO
We nearly suffered a PTO attempt. I was lucky enough to catch it when it happened and alerted a friend who is also a Mod and he submitted the list of names for us which resulted in the banning of 11/13 of them. At the time because of this it pushed the NCL out of the top 5 and we were unsure if they were going to be able to compete but luckily they were still able to.

Bondepartiet Absence
Even though they were in the top 5 they had no official candidates after they were dropped due to the region issue. This is where no doubt a large bulk of TP's voters came from during these elections. Next elections with Bondepartiet back in the game I am sure the results will be a lot different.

Free Liberty Absence
Free Liberty was pushed out of the top 5 a while ago when some members left to join the NGP however they still have voters in their party which contribute to the outcome. I think its safe to say their votes went to TP during this election with a vote or two possibly going to the NGP because of former ties. Free Liberty is only two members from being in the top 5 and three members away from being in the top 4 so should they put efforts into actively recruiting they could return during the next Congress elections. The NCL and TP should be wary of this and there will no doubt be some competition for the number 4 and 5 spots next elections.

As always don't forget to V,S&S!
