Congress - Where I Stand

Day 2,188, 20:48 Published in Canada United Kingdom by wingfield

Once again it is time for Congress nominations and, although the individual democratic element has long gone, a presentation is still the best way to show your perspective.

While the Party President selects a ticket; a Congress member is nobody’s clone or puppet but rather a player with rights given by Plato that cannot be waved away by other people.

Congress is in eRepublik in-game, and does not exist elsewhere. No external forum has the right or power to tell Congress members what they can and cannot do.

In Congress, I will cast my vote for reasonable, low rates of tax. I will use it against maverick impeachments or proposals that interfere with the rights of ordinary citizens. My vote will support MPPs and peace treaties that give us security and dignity, even if compromises have to be made.

When it is the responsible thing to do, I will use my proposals wisely, without kowtowing to any artificial rules about what proposals I may make.

I will represent my party’s ideals, not some forum’s version of what those ideals might be.

I will protect less well-established Congress members from bullying by political warlords and serve as mentor to any who so desire.

I will decide who, if any, gets my citizenship approvals. No one can tell me otherwise. I will not grant them to infiltrators or individuals known for undemocratic misbehaviour. Preference will always go to former military comrades.

Finally, I will not participate in the forums. They and their so-called rules are just a form of cyber-bullying. Communication is perfectly satisfactory in-game, for those who are prepared to do the necessary work.
