[President] Full Disclosure; End of Term
William of Edenbury
This article is written a bit earlier than I had intended but it'll be a good gauge to see if I picked the write path since there is another discussion in congress about the failure or success of my term.
The Intent of my Term
This is where there is a bit of a misunderstanding and revealing this bit will probably change how everything looks. I never really deviated from this plan so that is why some of my actions seemed strange to those who did not know my intent.
My intent was simple: I knew that CtG (now CtG and TLS) was becoming unstable and I wanted to set up countermeasures against their PTO attempts.
My Programs
If you look back through my articles you will see that I had three major programs. They were all actually designed as a countermeasure except for the Military program since there was an ethics consideration.
1. The immigration program: Designed to be the keystone of my plans this program was forced into a smaller, more under the radar version due to various events in the past month.
Intent: The purpose of the program was to target allied nations for the media campaign and gain new citizens that would help bolster our failing parties.
Effect: Technically speaking, the purpose of the program was met, But I cannot take credit for it. We were minorly successful in recruiting some new players through a small scale initiative that targeted Universities some of us attend. However, the membership of the parties grew far past the recruitment we did. I still am not sure what led to the surge in numbers So me and the friends who helped me cannot take credit for more than a handful of players.
2. The Ministry of Internal Affairs: This is the only program to have been fully completed as intended and it worked out beautifully.
Intent: The intent of the MoIA revival was to create a force that could seek out and identify illegal activity. More specifically, the creation of Multi accounts. This targeting of illegal activity is the main reason why the names of the MoIA team members have never been released. I do not want any of them suffering from revenge attacks or harassment from those they caught.
Effect: The Government has compiled a manual detailing identifying characteristics of multi accounts and various other minor scams. The information not only comes from our own team's experience but from advisers that assisted us from the multihunting teams in allied countries. Unfortunately that is all I can say, but believe me, the entire project and the team itself exceeded my expectations.
3.Military Supply Reforms: As the name indicates, this was a system of reforms for our military.
Intent: We wanted to lower the cost of the Military supplies while making the IJA and IAR a more professional force. There was also a thought tossed in that they could be used in ATO operations, but it was decided that ordering direct political interference by the military was against the entire point of their existence.
Effect: Due to a debate and congress and the war with eRoC, the system change was put on hold. The point of lowering costs was counterproductive considering that we needed to increase the number of weapons available for the war.
Congress
This is where most of the dissatisfaction with my term has been. Unfortunately, the vast majority of my time in eRepublik has been spent as an eSoldier. That means the tactics I am used to using in this game are completely different to those that career ePoliticians use.
I am not very good at giving disinformation. I am not very good at lying. And I am not very good at verbal sparring.
My experience has been to always move forward with the objective in mind. If you don't want your enemy to know what you are doing then remain silent. When you talk you run a large risk of giving things away that threaten the entire operation.
So that is why congress has been dissatisfied with my communication with them. CtG forms upward of a third of the congress. Anything I say to congress will obviously include them. Thus rather than play the games of politicians that I have no confidence in, I returned to my experience with eRep military ops. If you don't want the enemy to know your moves then stay silent.
The eRoC War
This is the second major point of dissatisfaction with my term. I am seen as not doing all that I can against them. Honestly? The military budget has already been spent on MPP's. We have reserves but I am not going to use them because I want use to finish our financial recovery from the Mitsunami war. To this point, all the food and weapons that have been distributed to our allies were personally bought with my own money.
As you all know, I am a hugely military oriented player. I have pushed for the funding of the National Military for three months and setup much of the Ministry of Defense's infrastructure. My list of friends is almost 2/3 military players with most of the politicians in it only having been added in recent months. I love the war aspect of this game and I am willing to spend huge amounts of my own money on supplying our troops, supplying foreign troops and buying mercenaries. And I have spent over a thousand of my own gold to do that.
But I am not willing to spend our nation's money.
Our country's income has been budgeted and we intend to give the next administration the funds we can. We will not break the government's power and wreck the chances of future administrations to free us because of war mongers that do not have experience with the Military aspect of this game and have not been paying attention to our battles.
Instead we have been doing something completely different. We have been strengthening our ties with our allies. We have one of the few full sets of representatives in HQ that our country has sent in months. A few months ago I was the representative to our alliance and everyone in there was surprised to see an eJapanese player. We have essentially been the ghost member of the alliance for much of the past year. Do you want to know why CoT never helped us? Our governments never sent anyone to tell them what we were doing. The first time we had any decent communication was last month During Squibeel's term. And you all saw how many of our allies assisted us for the first time.
That is where my focus has been for the past month when it comes to military matters. I have actually been integrating us into our own alliance.
And it worked.
We have been CoT's top priority multiple times this month. The reason we have a congress right now is because our allies spent so much damage that they could have been using on liberating their own regions. To be completely honest I requested once or twice that we be dropped from the priority list that day so that the alliance could focus on one of our other allies that was having a desperate battle. Despite that we would be immediately placed back on priority when I was not looking. That is how much our ties improved. Our allies actually sacrificed regions to help us get a congress this term.
Summary:
So that is what I have been doing all term. I have been setting up against CtG/TLS's PTO and strengthening our outside ties.
As to whether or not I've been successful, I'll leave up to you all to decide.
I'll probably be impeached here in a bit. I don't much care since I've completed my objectives and not much damage can be done to a wiped nation with a fully active congress in a couple of days.
Funny part is that I will likely be asked to run for CP again in a couple months. So I leave a couple questions for everyone.
Was my path correct?
Did I give our country hope for a new future or did I drag it closer to its demise?
And if I did not choose the correct path, are you willing to change it?
Do you have the resolve to alter our future?
My opponents have all been asked whether they wish to run for Country President and they have all turned it down (Except for CtG/TLS of course
😛).
What good does it do to complain about others but do nothing yourself?
My time is coming to a close and so to all the players of eJapan, both young and old I say this. Prove me wrong. Take the reins of this nation and show us your resolve. Show us your vision.
Choose our path and lead us.

Ten thousand years!
Voted for the honesty,
Willbur, you were ballsy, and I like that.
Ten Thousand Years!
Ten thousand years!
Voted already.
Thanks for clearing things for those {Ahem, me...} who didn't fully understand things like the failed impeachment congress had. Voted ;;;Ten thousand years!
Ten thousand years!
Cleansing the PTO filth takes priority.
Voted,
I still don't understand some of the decisions but I'm noob so it may be the reason.
William, thank you for your honesty.
But, you forget one thing. Maybe ULJ/ISP/DNP coalition won and made you CP. But, in the moment when you became CP - you became the CP of ALL citizens of eJapan, not only from your coalition.
Do you see the difference?
Like CP of ALL citizens of eJapan, you should try to speak with ALL of us. CtG included.
And you didn't do that. You projected your inner party politics to your CP position, which is not acceptable in any way. I will repeat: you are good MoD, but you are not politician. Instead to unite all of us, you made us apart.
I will give you an example: Squibeel's time, just one month ago. He is also our political opponent, but he respected all parties and leaders. Can you recall that during his term, we were "calm"?
Why that happened? Well, obviously, you should reconsider your position. I know that personally you don't like us. But, you should try to work with us and to be neutral. Not to help one side of story, you should negotiate with both sides and talk with us.
And of course, i already wrote on the forum more what i had to tell you.
You're forgetting to mention the CtG refuses to integrate into society. How can you be expected to be taken as a serious partner in helping eJapan if you continuously violate its laws and insult its culture?
Drop your love affair with eSerbia and respect eJapan's, agreed upon laws. If you feel the laws need amended their is a legal way to go about doing so. The CtG makes no effort to cooperate with eJapan and so they cannot be considered in the same group as the other party's. Parties who although are very different, respects the community's laws. Coming to a nation and demanding they do things your way is not a good way to make friends. Worse yet, is to accuse THEM of being uncooperative and rude.
I have come respect you (and on some days even like! 😛), Kowalski, but you surly cannot expect the community to accept the CtG while they continue to act against the will of the people.
On a related note, all of this manufactured drama is pretty pathetic and I don't want to point fingers but there are a few individuals who have been purposely trying to make a lot of smoke when there is no fire. Its obvious they are trying to masquerade themselves as heroes so they can claim some legitimacy in the political arena. tsk tsk.
Why you lie when you said that we refuse to integrate into society ??
First we have join your forum, and if i remember that is not obligation for playing erepublik. Also we respect in 80% of cases your immigration law, and few more things.
Second, most of us try to write articles and comments on english. Of course we have some people who dont want to write articles in english because it is for Serbian readers.
Third, if we are more active in some segments of game then other citizens of eJapan so we come to the expression that is not our fold.
Fourth, i dont know that is obligation to abandon ourselves and our ethnic origin if we want to live in some other country in erepublik.
Fifth, if we watch real image most of players in erepublik are from regions where is Yugoslavian and Spanish major languages, so English is not major language. When i was in eSerbia we had players from more than 20 countries. And we dont ask them to speak Serbian. They speak there own language.
We maybe had few trolls but in majority we try to blend in society, but from start most of you dont want to give us chance. But that is yours mistake.
Did i ever insult some player (or his nation) in eJapan ?? Answer NO
Did i ever get insulted or my nation from some other people here ?? Answer is YES.
So if we make conclusion, you should learn more about Serbia before insult some one. You have 1000 videos on youtube from people of all nationality who speaks about there trip to Serbia and how they brake stereotypes and change their image about Serbia.
Think about that.
I dont want from you or anyone else to love us, just respect us and dont insult us nothing more.
Jeti... the fact that you admit to breaking the law 20% of the time is, by itself, a huge problem.
as to your fourth point.. DankChronic said it best "To be eJapanese you must leave behind your RL nationality as soon as you log onto eRepublik, learn about the community, not force it to become what you want it to be."
Your fifth point invalid... this isnt the rest of the eWorld this is eJapan.
You want respect but give pretty much none... that is not how that works
Aryzn, you are saying old stuff, just a good ULJ member. OK, let me see... We are respecting almost all laws. If you mention Emigration law, take a look at Turt's last report, you'll see that we are not the only one which brake them. Before that, we didn't brake it for months. And i say "we" like "Samurai/CtG" only because you are thinking that we are together.
Also, last months, we are involved in changing laws. Of course, there is around 20 pax on the forum trolling each other. WTF is the point of the forum? Trolling? When some useful law was voted there last time? I think that passed months so far. And you can't blame us because of that, we have app. 30-40% of the Congress.
In bottom line, which malicious law was voted and that CtG was involved in the proposition of that law? Please, name just one of it.
Do you want to say that we don't respect eJapan? Not true. We don't have respect for people which are attacking us. You play your role of "eSerbian PTO", we are playing victims. I think that we can show respect to our own way. As someone already sai😛 I don't like manga, but i can do something else for eJapan. And there is no difference between us. We do what we can do the best.
And about demands. If something is not working (i'm thinking about Congress part on the forum), why to not change it? Or it is working? Yeap, right... This is just an example.
But i'm tired of telling the pretty same things all the time. Like Tara sai😛 this is like listening of two deaf people arguing. You are not listening us, then in our spite, we are not listening you... Full circle.
Quoting Tara is never a good idea in an intelligent conversation. 😣
(Nothing against him, just his sole purpose is to play the devils advocate, he doesn't contribute much.)
It is not that I am not listening to your concerns, in fact I am addressing them directly.
"you are saying old stuff"
This "old stuff" is the fundamental problem, if we don't address this then nothing will change.
"Do you want to say that we don't respect eJapan?"
I would say that, yes. The CtG/TLS only have a secondary concern for Japanese culture. If this were not true then both parties would not exist, as their sole basis is Serbian culture. (As in that is the key theme for both parties) The members of these parties want the Serbian community but just with a superficial Japanese feel. If they legitimately came here for Japanese culture then why join a party that flys the Serbian flag? That is detrimental to establishing a Japanese community and thus disrespecting our community (eJapan).
"You play your role of "eSerbian PTO", we are playing victims."
Migrating here en mass, largely illegally, and setting up party's based of your RL culture is a rather clear example.
You have your definitions confused. Those who like Japanese culture, note manga and the like are only a very small fraction of which, are the real victims. As I stated earlier, your (the eSerbian's) conduct is not worthy of respecting.
"If something is not working (i'm thinking about Congress part on the forum), why to not change it? Or it is working?"
I am not sure what you are getting at with this, but if you think the forums are a bad idea you can propose we not use them. The rest of the community likes the forums so that will likely not pass, but the point is that there are legal ways to address all areas of concern. If you find your opinion to be at odds with the general consensus, don't get offended and continue to segregate yourselves from the community, respect the communities opinion.
You missed a big point Kowalski... he labelled CtG and TLS as enemies of the state... if you bear that in mind, he did fight for all the citizens of eJapan. (now weather we agree with that position or not is up to each of us individually)
No i didn't. If you read carefully, you'll see that i said the same thing but on polite way.
But, that doesn't change my POV. We are all citizens of eJapan, and CP is a CP of ALL citizens, no matter do you like them or not.
What should do some (hypothetically) CP from CtG? Tell that all other parties are enemies of the state? I can bet that it won't happen.
Probably launch impeachment votes w/o discussion first... odd part is, it might pass 😛
Discussion on the forum is highly recommended, but it's not obligatory. Take a look on that part and you will see.
Also, note that his impeach was not proposed from CtG.
I won't be glad if it pass as i can't do anything. We should impeach him 20 days ago xD
I have nothing against Serbia, eSerbia yes. To be honest I have never even heard of Serbia before I started playing eRep, so I have no stereotype about RL nationalities.
And you don't have to abandon your previous culture.....but you have no legitimate claim to have a Serbian based party in eJapan. It is a PTO in every sense of the phrase.
You don't see anyone else constantly raving over their RL culture, that is because we all respect the fact we chose to live here to be in a Japanese flavored culture. No one in eJapan chose to elive in a Serbian culture, so enough with the Serbian flags and silly RL nationalism already.
Oy Kowalski.. Let's not forget CtG's CP 😉 He respected noone else in the country aside from CtG and ofcourse eSerbia
But at least he made less damage to eJapan then William did for less then month.
It's not like he had eRoC down his neck either tho..
That's true.
But that doesn't change the fact that William knew about eRoC plans and didn't do anything 😛
Hizaya, we can talk like this for years. I can't say that Ceda had perfect term. But, it was better then William's term.
Nothing even got done in Ceda's term due to gross inactivity and a lack of transparency or use of the national forum or IRC.
Meanwhile in eJapan: ...............!
"We have essentially been the ghost member of the alliance for much of the past year. Do you want to know why CoT never helped us? Our governments never sent anyone to tell them what we were doing. The first time we had any decent communication was last month During Squibeel's term. And you all saw how many of our allies assisted us for the first time."
I don't know for the rest but for me this is kinda hard to believe, for past time we were more occupied than we were free and we were always saying that CoT isn't helping us at all or very little and now you are saying that we didn't even sent anyone to HQ of CoT, than what the hell our previous governments were doing???
As for Squibeel, wasn't he in the high positions in HQ of CoT since long time and wasn't he in the same time at least unofficial representative of our country???
iirc even Squib has said before that eJapan has failed to maintain communication and presence in CoT HQ
William is just too good for you guys.
"I knew that CtG (now CtG and TLS)" -we are maybe in the same MU,cuz we cant halve that. But we are not in the same party, please,im in TLS,not in CtG. Ty.
Did I give our country hope for a new future?
My answer is NO.You (I said YOU,cuz you are 'the big head man') lost all of our original regions.
But if we exclude that (with regions) your term of office was good.
This is my opinion,i dont flame or something.
All the best,
Shadow.
o7
Yeah I guess you, ultimately, blame William for eRoC's invasion. But I don't think its reasonable to do so, eRoC's spontaneous aggressive behavior could not have been avoided by anyone. Furthermore, William responded the best he could to such circumstances.
I dont blame William for that.I just blame him cuz we(I mean William) didnt attempt to defend eJapan, without CO,without teamfight.
Sry for my bad eng.
I quote William:
"We will not break the government's power and wreck the chances of future administrations to free us because of war mongers that do not have experience with the Military aspect of this game and have not been paying attention to our battles."
Shadowmaniac I think you are forgetting that it requires CC to post CO and the govt is still mostly broke
RoCking those paywalls:

I blame William because he choose to beat his own citizens and didn't check all information which he had (by his own words, he had 4! information during 15 - 20 days). In the same time, two of those information were fake, one was made by internal affairs and one was the real one.
The real one was expected, especially if you read TWO HQ newspapers where is clearly said that there won't be ANY privileged countries from CoT which will be safe from TWO.
But seems to me that our ex-MoD and CP is not reading news. In the same time, he's claiming that he is a soldier all his life... Right...
~hyuu~
tl;dr
Now that Im done responding to other points/comments...
Your term Will seems to have been sponsored by the "Good Intentions Paving Company" and we all know where roads built by good intentions lead.
I think ya screwed up at several points and you've left the next guy/girl a Dubyuh+Obama sized frakking mess.
Pretty much anyone paying attention knows I am not of a fan of CtG or TLS as whole groups but I think you may have made a fatal mistake in labeling ALL of their members as enemies of the state and making 0 effort to get the decent members out of the PTO groups and into existing parties.
I disagree vehemently with Kowalski quite often but even Im not quite ready to label him un-salvageable. There are other former eSerbs like Turt that have become exemplary members of eJapan. Fighting the PTO groups is not as simple as fighting an invader on your land. One hand must be used to beat them down, while the other hand must be used to find the good bits in the mess and save it.
Would you marry me? Ahava left me, you are showing interest... Next you will be all over me...
Awwww.... New day, new love :3
just cause Im not ready to keel haul you doesnt mean "interest"
You are still a rather attractive man, kowalski-kun.
Ahava it was funny first time... Only...
Boukin Suzaku, only for you:

It's not about humor, Kowalski, it's the truth :v
If the Serbians would try to assimilate into eJapanese citizens I'd happy to fight alongside them. Jeti wants people to respect the Serbians, well I'm honestly never going to do that in a million years id gladly stop the alienating your people. You don't have to like anime/manga to be seen as an eJapanese, as a matter of fact I can't stomach these days shitty material, the only manga I read is old stuff 1990's-2007 maybe and One Piece and I hate J-pop with a passion. What I'm trying to say is if you guys would at least he a bit less European and at least role play as eJapanese people then you would be accepted. And for the readers who can only understand Serbian, maybe they just don't belong here. Sad truth.
This comment is full of grammatical errors but that's because I'm on mobile and at work at the moment but you should understand the point of it.
Voted
I think your path was correct
Joke.
Damn' you William-sama ! You know how to feed the trolls !
