About the Portuguese/Sapinard "Pact"
Julio de Matos
Hey everyone, how are you doing?
I came here to ask you, as a former ePortuguese citizen and president, to not hate the portuguese because of their recent "pact" with the sapinards.
Source
Believe me, it pains them much more than it pains you. They fought as hard as they could for a piece of land, even for a monthly congress with the help and resources avaliable for a country of its size.
Canada was a major part of their war efforts and they have not forgotten.
But wiped for almost a year with no income or means to get it, countless currency was spent in resources and mercenaries to fight long and hard. As you know, money is not infinite and if there was a choice, they would keep pressing on tirelessly. It's a fact, not a belief.
France got a better deal, that's true, but France doesn't have their numbers, their resiliency and the enjoyment the portuguese get for pissing off nations several times their size.
The fact that the "pact" was so hard on a country of that size means that Sapin knows that Portugal is between a rock and a hard place and tries to take advantage of the situation.
A similar situation presented itself months ago with brazilians acting as moderators and much better conditions.
We refused.
Why? Because a treaty between a real and virtual rival moderated by a country who conveniently switched sides to protect its bonus was an insult.
There was never no hope but there is pride. However, pride only takes us so far.
But do not mistake dear comrades: there are still a LOT of portuguese against it and as long as there's one against the idea, there will still be a resistance.
If there needs to be a judgement, judge them not only by this moment but by the sum of our experiences together.
Keep pressing on, Canada!
Against sapinard imperialism, we march!

I agree very much, the hate Portugal is getting from this country is unwarranted. Live strong.
LOL, "Sapinard".
"sapinard" was a pre-v1 name pakistanis gave to the pig-disgusting 🙂
Anyway, all nice words and all. But canadians will probably face portuguse troops now, too.
Or you all missed the part about Portugal signing a pro-COT/TWO MPP block?
maybe. or maybe not. Portugal was coerced to sign them but that doesn't mean it shares the same Daily Orders as of those alliances.
If you have MPPs with TWO only, the only DOs an MU can set would be those supporting TWO...or RWs in your own country.
Yeah, I do get that Portugal was in a very tough spot for a very long time. A treaty may have been eventual. I just don't get that MPP clause they agreed to. Strange.
support comes in many ways. mostly in minor skirmishes
Today i gave 3.5M for Canadá against Spain... lots of portuguese will do the same... dont worry!!!
Hail Canadá
As much as it dismayed me to learn of the Portuguese surrender, I am equally dismayed by the hatred and mocking some of my fellow citizens have thrown at Portugal. Their government made a decision, as friends and allies we must not turn our backs on that friendship, even if the vast majority of us disagree with that decision. We've still got your back, hopefully, someday soon, both our countries will be liberated from the Spanish scourge.
We should still encourage them to scrap Clause 3 (TWO MPPS) or not follow it, even as we express our understanding about their predicament. There has to be a limit somewhere.
Indeed. I think we should be as supportive as possible. Clause 3 is a crime against diplomacy. It's that, more than anything else, that has me concerned about the CPF brain trust's (Funky, Auk, even EPD) push for eCanada's surrender. Spain is going to push just as hard to punish us.
Good article... V+S
How funny it is that one can find more constructive opinions about this treaty in this Canadian comments than in most of the Portuguese articles 🙂
It is hard on all of us but then we have to deal with it and help ourselves and our allies back up on the national scale !!
