Uljanov
In the third part of my "Irish history lessons" i would like to write about historical connection between Ireland and Mexico. I waited for a good date for this article and today is good day as it gets.
Please listen to the song:

Today, February 19., is Mexican Army day. And i dedicate this text to all Mexicans and those who feel like one.
Short history about USA - Mexico war 1846-1848
In 1846 USA and Mexico had major boarder tensions. Mexico was enraged by the American annexation of Texas, and USA wanted California, New Mexico and Utah to witch were sparsely populated. Armies were sent to the border and it didn't take long for a series of skirmishes to flare into an all-out war. The Americans took the offensive, invading first from the north and later from the east after capturing the port of Veracruz. In September of 1847, the Americans would capture Mexico City, forcing Mexico to surrender.
The St. Patrick's Battalion
The St. Patrick's Battalion or on Spanish el Batallón de los San Patricios was Mexican army battalion consisted mostly of Irish Catholics, some German Catholics and handful of other nationalities. Battalion counted from 175 - 700+ members. Their leader was Lieutenant John Riley. Most of them deserted from the US army before the war mostly because of 2 reasons.
1. Irish Catholics were treated badly in USA. They were considered to be lazy, uneducated and fools. Even when they deserved promotions and better work conditions they were denied.
2. USA was mainly Protestant country and they felt the obligation to join their Catholic brothers in this war.
The St. Patrick's Battalion flag
There is no flag of The St. Patrick's Battalion that survived to this day, there are only written description of it.
One of them goes like this.
John Riley: "In all my letter, I forgot to tell you under what banner we fought so bravely. It was that glorious Emblem of native rights, that being the banner which should have floated over our native Soil many years ago, it was St. Patrick, the Harp of Erin, the Shamrock upon a green field."
According to an American journalist covering the war with Mexico:
“The banner is of green silk, and on one side is a harp, surmounted by the Mexican coat of arms, with a scroll on which is painted Libertad por la Republica Mexicana ["Liberty for the Mexican Republic"]. Under the harp is the motto of Erin go Bragh! On the other side is a painting... made to represent St. Patrick, in his left hand a key and in his right a crook or staff resting upon a serpent. Underneath is painted San Patricio."
Aftermath
I will not go into detail where and how they died but here is a short version.
Most of them died in the final battles of the war. Some were captured and most of them executed some released after the war. Many of them remained in Mexico and started families.A handful of Mexicans today can trace their lineage to one of the San Patricios. Those who remained were rewarded by the Mexican government with pensions and the land. Some returned to Ireland.
The St. Patrick's Battalion legacy
To this day they are regarded as heroes and traitors alike.
Mexican government to this day celebrates them as a national heroes. They fought not out of fear but out of a sense of righteousness and justice. Every year, St. Patrick's Day is celebrated in Mexico, particularly in the places where the soldiers were hanged. They have received many honors from the Mexican government, including streets named after them, plaques, postage stamps issued in their honor, etc.
As a gratitude to Ireland Mexican government gave a commemorative statue to the Irish government in perpetual thanks for the bravery, honor and sacrifice of the Saint Patrick's Battalion. The statue was erected in Clifden, Connemara, Ireland, where leader Jon Riley was born.
Final thought
This is not a full detailed story about The St. Patrick's Battalion only part of it and mostly in favor of them.
Since their historical heritage is divided between treachery and heroism i apologize if i offended someone with this text.
Thank you all for reading!

Algunos regresaron a Irlanda.

That's pretty well known, it's a nice piece of history on the Irish abroad.
You should write about Thomas Crowley, hes not so well known & his story would appeal to everyone reading 😉
Well i did write about Bram Stoker and William Brown. I will make sure i write about Thomas Crowley to. Thank you!
Theyve no connection to Croatia though 😛
Crowley does
Why would it have connection with Croatia? This is eIreland 😛
Uljanov is from Croatia
Ye, but this is game and this is eIreland 😛
yes and we have lots of RL Croatians here and, as Uljanov writes about RL history, something related between both countries would be good.
Thomas Crowley 1949-1995 Irish hero of Croatian defense 1991-1995

RIP o7
I was a member of HOS so i know about him well....being on his funeral.
Personally the most disgusting was how "croatian" government decided to ignore his family by not giving them his pension...something every widow of a war veteran and in this case a hero has right to.
And in that time his family lived in south africa in very poor economic conditions.
Link to source?
Don't have a link...heard from friends from my former unit...
Members of Tom's unit aparently did manage to force cro gov to give that pension but still....its a shame when you have to fight for someone's earned rights...
You're such a liar Kurgan. You were in HOS about as much as Padraig was a member of the magdelene laundries.
Again IBhoy...only coz you wish something does not makes it real.
You wanna people belive you are an adult married man with kids while we all know you are troubled virgin still living in his parents basement.
But if you wanna belive everyone else here are pathetic as you are it's your right.
It's clear you never been a soldier and that terms like honor or pride do not exist in your little sad world.
But i saw your type during the war.....we would find them roaming war zones looking to plunder houses whose owners escaped.
Many times they had someone powerful official protecting them so most time we catch them, next day they walked free.
So you realise only way to stop them is a bullet...

not wishing for anything ya knob. I don't care whether u were in it or not, I just know you're talking scutter as usual.
and I don't know why you think I would brag about being married, not like it's anything to brag about, probably would be for a freak like u if any woman was ever desperate enough to even look in your direction.
lost ur virginity to a goat kurgan and that's gonna be p much it for u I'm afraid ;___;
Why so angry IBhoy?
You try to hurt my feelings?
You see my wretched friend....your childish rage you show right now prove my words of you being frustrated virgin with no perspective in the future.
I would normally advised you to try with masturbation but in your case it seems you had too much of it.....
Is that a reason why you type with only one hand coz other is to damaged coz of over use......
no rage or anger at all knob
jus observing how sad and desperate you are
throwing you a bone to pass a little time as I know this is all you have in your life
IBhoy.....a little advice from someone who has much more experience with wretched human behaviour.
Judge humans based on their actions not what they say.
For example you say you are not angry but you try to "insult" me coz you have no arguments against me.
And to make situation worst you use childish insults.
On another hand i use facts and logic.....
Watching you all this years...you bully, you steal, you lie and having no problem with that it's clear you are just another spoiled brat....just like Elite C....
Fact you gather same kind of kids around you and even calling them your "family" its clear you are a spoiled child who always gets everything he wants from his parents except one thing....parental love.
And deep down you would trade all your toys for a one good hug from them....
don't need an argument against you, you make an idiot of yourself everyday and have taken the mantle of village idiot.
nice that you're so desperate to fight your losing battle against me that you would think about my family/parents etc.
not spoiled, worked for everything I have and am not sad enough to make up stories about being in HOS. on all 3 points it p much beats being you.
Humans who work hard for living do not act like you do.
Humans who work hard for living do not steal or lie like you do.
You never worked for anything except bothering parents for a new toy.
I was in HOS and i saw shit your kind do in rl and that is why i fight your kind here.....and there is nothing you can do about it but crying.
And tell me IBhoy how odes it feel to be owned by "village idiot"?
One kurgan against your whole ICA/kunts
Losing battle?
Where is your ICA? Where are you IBhoy?
Once you ruled this land with your kunts family.....
Now?
A refugee who lick british arses
ICA turn in dust
Your kunts under Kurgan's rule.
And most important I succesfully pisssing all of you kunts for years...
Me kicking your arse out of ireland was very entertaining.
Does your arse still hurt?
my arse hurts from laughing at a little boy lying about being in HOS.
I've never stolen anything either; unlike you who has stolen from one of our allies using another one of your multies.
You owned me like a goldfish owns a shark.
Give your head a break son, I'm simply better than you and getting angry and frustrated will just make things worse. Just relax and try live a normal life despite your obvious disadvantages.
I owned you from your third comment....to annoy twat like you is priceless....
You are clearly pissed and that its how it should be
Scamming allies?
You must be talking about OJ scammed portugal government few days ago.
OJ is one of your kunts if i am not mistaken.
And he didn't use multies he scammed using his real account.
But then he learned from the best scammer and thief in this game.
So i admit you are better then me...better in scamms, lying and stealing.
Can't even compare with you....
But again remember.....one person...one creature...one Kurgan is fking with you and your kunts for years.
One destroyed your mighty....and you know why'
Coz you and your kunts has no moral ground..no honor...no nothing...except paranoia....
You know what low level creatures you are...you know you do not worth...
So when someone tells you your friend is talking bad about you will belive coz you know you are not good.
You can keep talking how great and superior you are to yourself.
You can hire your level creatures to scream how great are you.
But you know how sad and lonely your life is....seeking virtual family coz no one loves you in rl...not even your own rl family...
3 deleted comments?
Are you so frustrated?
May The Word bless you and grant you some love by real people in rl....

Rest your head there son, being inferior is not your fault. I can see that you're getting frustrated and your comments are becoming more and more incoherent. Please resist the urge to smash your keyboard out of temper because your pea-brain cannot understand how I am so vastly superior to you.
You're dismissed.
IBhoy...my boy...i hear you took irish cz.....
I pissed you so much i basically forced you to return....
The ways i play with you mind......I control your emotions i control you.
My little suprerior fool.....
Viktor my little Chihuahua, I heard you took a penis in the bum.
And i thought i am the only one that hears voices in my head.
But my voices are angelic voices form Heavens.
Yours just a product of too much masturbation...
You do realise i can fk with your mind here forever?
A chance to play with you is priceless considering you are so scared of me you don't dare to accept my friend request....
Send a friend request and I shall duly accept it.
Yay! IBhoy loves me!
"Viktor Kurgan wants to add you as a friend. Will you accept? Yes - No
3 minutes ago"
Lolno
No! How can you play with my emotions like that!
You know i love you!
The only reason i fight with you coz i want you to notice me!
I know you fear me but there is no reason to be affraid of me....much..
Thomas Crowley is a boss o7
From Mexico a big hug : D
Really nice art an😛 ¡Vivan los héroes que nos dieron patria y libertad!

I didn't know that and I'm ashamed of it. I can't thank your St. Patrick's Battalion enough for helping us in that war. In this game we could be in different sides but in rl you have a friend.
Hail Ireland o7
PS😒orry for my English.
We do not have a side. We have our friends from Finland, Canada, Bulgaria, Argentina, Croatia...
I hope one day we fight side by side..o7

Thank you all!
i heard about this,Ireland is a strong people, and always helped the Catholic countries of that time. Ireland a helped Mexico, at that time was very weak mexico and the brothers from Ireland help us.
Hail Ireland
Hail Mexico
Have a nice day
According to history most of the batallion was hanged for treason by the US troops just as the american flag was rised in the center of México City. John Riley was force to witness this and wasn't hanged but marked on his fronthead with a "T" or a "D", I'm not sure.
He was let go and legend has it that he married a mexican girl and died anonymously years later.
I salute the brave Batallón de San Patricio. They give their lives fighting for a country they didn't know because they thought the american invasion was not justified.
