ASGARD – Let’s get on board
asecondchance
As now some time has passed since we left EDEN (http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-referendum-farewell-friends--2172808/1/20) and we have slowly reshaped our MPP’s letting some expire and adding new ones, and as our TW with eUK is coming to a close I am left wondering what is next.
When we left EDEN we all agreed we are in no rush to join the next alliance but to look into options and then decide. Given how up in the air many things are in this eWorld of ours, I think now is a good time to get serious discussions going and getting decisions made on our direction.
Some developments:
- Over the last few weeks we have been doing eCountry wide battles in support of ASGARD and where possible setting the DO to support them.
- One of our closest allies eCanada are under referendum now to join ASGARD. See: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/alliance-referendum-update--2190355/1/20
- Our recent MoC survey showed that overall eIreland's preference is to join ASGARD over other alliances: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/survey-results-1-2187757/1/20
- For those not familiar with ASGARD, here is a great interview done to give a lot of information on ASGAR

So can we crap or get off the pot? We need strong alliances, allies and friends we can count on and from my point of view, ASGARD thanks to its geographical location, member nations and tight knit community seems like the best fit for our eNation.
Comments
Politicians close to Asgard have made it clear to that it's unlikely Ireland would be accepted into Asgard, unofficially.
Furthermore, hurrying into any alliance is an ill-conceived idea. Given the lack of enthusiasm with Asgard for our membership, it is not a good idea to rush into trying to join it. Furthermore, our strategic position is not one that Asgard alone can protect, nor can we be sure they would want to do so.
Can we move on then I guess is the point - We are supporting ASGARD battles and as a nation voting in surveys as that is the preference. We are also not hearing alternatives being presented. If ASGARD is off the table, then can we move it off the table and layout what our options are so we can move on to where we will get the most out of the alliance.
Thanks for the article...
Asgard. Lol
I say get off the pot and look for a real alliance
However my voice is just one voice and lost in the rough seas of recriminations at the moment.
You may need rerelease this article in a few days if it does not get seen what with the vote buyers etc.
I would also add we left EDEN 30 days ago... so I would not call it rushing to want to see what options are on the table and start to form serious direction. 30 days in a game like this is a life time for many citizens 🙂
Asecondchance, it's very easy to say "find alternatives now", it's entirely a different matter to actually find one that is viable.
We do have an option or two, but I refuse to place them for consideration by the Irish people until they are complete options, not just speculation.
Have to say...I agree with the points made here by asecondchance. Neutrality has rarely been a recipe for success around here, so if not Asgard, then it's time to make a real effort towards finding a suitable alliance.
I hear you Brian and I am not saying this should be rushed, I was assuming after 30 days there had been active discussions going on flushing out alternatives. If we are still at the infant stages of our next alliance that is disappointing but a different story all together.
Understanding you just came into office so the delay in activity on this front cannot be your issue created but unfortunately yours to adopt.

Asecondchance, my FA priority at the moment is closing the TW.
Furthermore, hurrying into any alliance is an ill-conceived idea. x2
And, for those that doesn't remember it, long time ago Ireland was very respected as a Neutral Nation. Yes it has been a recipe of sucess. Not that I am agreeing with a prolonged neutrality, but currently there are many options and things are starting to change all around. I am agreeing for a time of reflexion to ensure we do not rush and we have an enlightened idea of it all. And, to clarify things, my survey was answered by only 7% of the Irish total population.
Canada, Germany, Australia, Russia, Ireland... just sayin
Last term there were discussion between Ireland and the Asgard. I think that those left many with a positive feeling about the issue. However, people in charge have changed. Naturally this changes things a little and slows the progress. I can say that nothing has been decided about this matter. All options are still open.
Thanks Ruben for that insight! Good to hear it is still an open matter!
"30 days in a game like this is a life time for many citizens"
^Those however, are not the type of citizen you tend find in an alliance HQ.
30days is a bat of the eye to +3yr players.
no
I will never agree with us joining an alliance of two nations, what in the hell is the point of that?
"If we are still at the infant stages of our next alliance that is disappointing but a different story all together."
If thats true blame MUFCs government not Brians since he is only in the job 4 days.
Hey Marcus, not sure if you saw in my comment was:
"Understanding you just came into office so the delay in activity on this front cannot be your issue created but unfortunately yours to adopt. "
Also RE: 2 nations - eCanada is in the process of joining as well and i think they have a few others in the works
But as of typing this there is only two in it, even. Canada do join its still a weak alliance.
There are serious doubts as to whether or not eireland would have a seat at the table of the alliance decision makers. With only a few nations, the small alliance is not a power to be reckoned with. We need our voice to be heard to make sure the alliance does not make a decision that would put eIreland in the cross-hairs of an enemy we are unprepared for. Before joining, I would like to get a clarification about what our role in the alliance leadership dynamics would be.
As far as the negativity goes, Asgard nations have only been fighting countries almost equal to their strength. With another nation or two added to the alliance, it would help finally seal their goals in the wars they have been fighting for a while now. They need more countries to help direct damage effectively. 3-4 countries that have a decent HQ who knows how to direct each country to ensure a victory in each battle, and allows each nation a shot at a successful campaign of their own, is an ideal HQ.
I'd take a small organized HQ over a large clusterfuck like EDEN any day of the week.
@marcus
small alliances is awesome. even if i dont want ireland in Asgard i like the idea about an small alliance rather then a big one.
No desire to join this alliance.
