The Fall of Portugal: The Power of Alliances
Freebairn
Little Portugal, a small Iberian country formerly at war with Spain. They have just recently fell to the might of the Spanish armed forces. It was only a matter of time, they had been losing the war for some time now. Now even though we're allied with the Spanish government, this "consolidation" of the Iberian Peninsula seems a little foolhardy to me. It's nearly impossible that the Portuguese won't resist occupation and rebel at every given option. Now don't get me wrong, it's entirely possible that this is the end of the nation of Portugal, but it's not probable. I haven't got a major opinion on the war, as that's just how this world works. Portugal was an easy target because it didn't have enough allies for protection.
The world has entered the age of Global Alliances. Worldwide alliances that group together countries across the world and combine their militaries. These alliances deter war, and protect the member nations. There have been many global alliances in the world, many disbanded others still functioning; like ONE, Terra, Ctrl, and others. The issue is that when these alliances clash, world wars and global conflicts break out. THese conflicts are risky, they can be destructive or benevolent to the member states, or both. In our time, the world is going deeper into an age of smaller conflicts, over territory or feuds, less alliance-wide warfare. This is good and bad, it lowers the chance of a country being fully annexed during wartime, but it also lowers the rewards to be gained from victory in a war. When a global conflict is won, the entire world changes with it, alliances crumble, nations rise and fall, and the balance of power and influence is shifted.
In the past, the eUK has won and lost during World Wars. However, in my opinion, when these conflicts break out, the eUK takes the worst heat when our alliances lose. The eUK is hurt badly by our losses, despite our contributions to the war. Well, that is my opinion, feel free to express your own.

Voted, if you put some more pics in for later articles, I might sub
Alright, I'll try to add some pictures next time. Thanks
Play the game for a while longer and you'll soon realize no country is ever gone for good. And this is about the tenth time Portugal's been wiped in the past 3 months.
I think your articles are fine, I just think you need to brush up on eRep history before going into this sort of topic; otherwise you're making conclusions that, frankly, are pretty much a given.
Voted, though. I'm interested in seeing what other articles you write up.
Alright thanks.
Yeah, Portugal does get wiped frequently, as do plenty of countries, bar the mega-nations (ie Poland, USA)
But everyone has been wiped at some point, and everyone has bounced back up, although being wiped is a big hit on both the recruitment and morale of new players.
But I'm seeing good articles, and maybe if you get a little more experience under your belt and include a few pics & background information to wars, then I think this newspaper could go far
Thank you. I do plan to add pictures in future articles.
