[TUP] Elections and Progress

Day 1,812, 12:17 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by ePocalypse

Hi eUK,

Elections
Democracy isn’t perfect but it’s sure as hell better than the alternatives and today the citizens of eUK have spoken loudly and clearly by re-electing Talon Karrde as Country President. They’ve shown that they’re not persuaded to vote by people buying the most votes in the media. They’ve shown that they aren’t interested in empty promises and rhetoric. What the people want is good, reliable governance and leaders who they can trust to do their best for our country.

I was particularly heartened to see this article from a UKPP member. It’s always nice to see people considering the pros and cons of each candidate and making an informed decision.

Despite attempts to split the TUP vote, Talon is currently leading (at the time of writing) by a massive 84 votes.

As some of you may know, a multi-account took over a party during last PP elections, renamed it Dan Moir Youth, gave it a Hitler avatar and set me as a Presidential candidate. The plan was not just to troll me but also to split the TUP vote with two well known TUP candidates running for President. When we were presented with logs from the UKPP IRC channel by a UKPP member, we couldn’t help but chuckle:

23:56 and remmeber I gave you a gift this month, dan moir is TUP PP and running for CP unless he can somehow get out of it - its easy to win this month
23:57 some TUP WILL vote for dan moir
23:58 Dan would have to change CS

Now I’d like to point out that this wasn’t a UKPP conspiracy, it just happened to be the room in which Goku (New Era spokesman) was gloating.

Thanks again also to the other parties that put their support behind Talon’s campaign. We recognise that we won’t always have a candidate as strong as Talon running for CP and thank you for your support on this occasion.

Progress
TUP continues to progress after some months of mediocrity on a party political level. I’ve set a hectic schedule for this month with my primary goals being to increase activity within the party, to give opportunities to less experienced players and to increase our media presence (without buying votes – something I have never done and never will).

I’m pleased to say that we’ve achieved all of these goals so far and will continue to push for further improvement. We’ve also seen membership rise from 252 members to 290 members at the time of writing.

We’ve elected 5 first time congress members from our 13 and ensured we gave the newest, active players top priority.

Our IRC is as active if not more active than it’s ever been. Our forums are similarly busy. More TUP members are becoming more active and contributing to our society and I’d encourage more people to do the same. It really is a great community to be a part of.

This is my 11th article since my PP manifesto back on 13th October, so media activity has been increased, even if we haven’t always appeared in the top 5 due to vote buying by others.

And don’t think we’re going to relax now elections are over. We’ve got plenty more to do in the term and beyond, including the early opening of our Party Conference this month where all our members are encouraged to have their say on our policies. Please join us on our forums where the discussion will take place in the run up to PP elections.

Thanks to party members for your continued support and thanks to everyone else who voted for Talon today.
