Don't meddle in eUK Politics
Septuagenarian
Some time ago I made a suggestion on the forum to abolish any input from anyone that did not have eUK citizenship, this proposal was eventually abandoned. This was prompted by a foreign national being closely involved in the proposal to impeach the CP in office at the time.
Moving along into the present we can see the involvement of foreign nationals in our citizenship process and a succession of people with foreign citizenship having a significant influence on our "official" forums. These people include/ have included congress members from countries in opposing alliances and a number of others have been CP candidates in the countries of their citizenship. Currently we have this ( http://tinyurl.com/9ew4j3s ) discussion on the Forums which concerns an argument between two non eUK citizens about an eUK citizenship grant for a third person.
Why are these people allowed to have influence? It certainly isn't to ensure their vote because they don’t have a vote in eUK. The accepted wisdom is that they moved to other countries to “help the eUK be stronger” and while this may be a small part of the reason I believe this is not the entire case.
We are all here to play a game and to be successful you have to have a significant amount of gold. The easiest way to get gold is quite simply to buy it with real money from Plato. So there is a situation emerging where, to be successful, people have made real money investments. Looking around, they see ways of being even more successful by taking their investment to somewhere other than the eUK. However, in being successful many of them who have legitimately had an influence in how the eUK has been run in the past now find themselves with foreign citizenship in a country where they have little or no influence. This transition essentially means they become a small fish in a large pool and to compensate for the lack of influence in their new country they cling on to their influence here, especially in the forums. I believe a lot of what they do is basically to enhance their own self perceived lack of worth in the country of their new citizenship by influencing the eUK to behave in ways that whilst on the surface may seem to be reasonable, are really aimed at making themselves even more successful.
We are coming up to a CP election so I say to all the foreign “hangers on” either renew your eUK citizenship and have a real say in the election process with your vote or shut the f*** up! To the CP candidates, let’s hear what your stance is of allowing foreign citizens to have influence in the eUK. To the rest of us who don’t hold any office; make your voice heard, pm each of the candidates with your own questions to find out exactly what they think and how much they are influenced by people with non eUK citizenship.
Finally before I’m accused of being anti any particular party, ALL of the top five parties are influenced to a greater or lesser extent by people with foreign citizenship.

Meh...
You do raise some interesting points, one thing I'd like to distinguish between is on this comment:
"ALL of the top five parties are influenced to a greater or lesser extent by people with foreign citizenship."
Individuals receiving counsel from experienced international friends on a personal level (a responsible thing to do) and international people "meddling" (for want of a kinder word) in eUK politics from abroad themselves are quite different things, really, aren't they?
Great article and well written. Pleasure to vote for this
I'm meddling! ^__^
ha.
Foreign cs is a necessity for anyone running a MU because of game mechanics. Army leaders have done this since before citizenship was ever introduced. They're not foreign except on their erep citizen Page. They don't participate in local politics, it's just for bonuses
"Foreign cs is a necessity for anyone running a MU because of game mechanics"
As I can see many MU run by eUK citizens I have a real life offer for people that believe the above statement.
I am selling a large steel tower very cheaply, you can see it on the skyline in Paris I will accept payment in cash only. Please pm me for details
Foreign CS isn't a neccesity for anything involving the eUK - its a concious choice to take advantage of a better position elsewhere because the 'forig' can't be bothered trying to improve the eUKs position.
Great article. Voted and sub'd 😉
Better they supply the UK from abroad and remain involved in the community than fight against it from abroad and abandon it.
Curse you for making me visit the forums again with your link!
Just reminds me why I don't use 'em anymore.....
'Traditionalists' slamming someone for lack of respect (and forgetting their transgreesions e.g how the 'Ergo conference' ended).
A UKRPer suggesting 'ATO' against another party.
A 'convienience' citizen saying its the non-forum users fault for not using the forum.
TUP claiming they don't use CS passes to boost party numbers (foreign affiliates are apparently already members and Belgians don't count)
Publishing contents of PRIVATE messages.
Nothing done in-game.
TUPer calls for a lock, TUP mate locks it.
It's like I never left.
But you did leave, and therefore can't be surprised that those people who don't just up sticks and leave when they want to are still there, surely? What has surprised you? You expect that surrendering control of something to somebody would cause it to change in your favour? Here, please hold this £5 note for me, I don't like this chair so in 6 months I expect to come back and collect my £10 note from you.
Q1. The surprise wasn't in the non-change in those that remained (I expected that)
Q2. The surprise was that so little had changed in terms of the debate styles and counter-'arguments' used.
Q3. Nope, I left because I believed (and evidently confirmed with this visit) that things wouldn't change and having seen the 'processes' used in the forum, I didn't feel that they were in anyway going to help me play or enhance my experience of playing the actual game.
Forums = waste of time is my personal experience with them and for balance I would point out that Talon did do an article about the benifits of a forum system about 2 weeks back

Another specific proposal that is sorely missed by the "elites". I think all eUKers should live in eUK and give a decent rank, let's say 14th and then a slightly better bonus.
