Today saw the beginning of a New Era for the eUK as a new party broke into the top three eUK political parties. New Era after a blazing start where they were granted the trust of the public managed to occupy seven seats in the eUK Congress as well as a top five spot in the eUK. From there we have pushed on to become not only the eUK's fastest growing party but a party where players new and old can join and have their voice heard. New Era is not just a new party with a small horizon, we plan on changing the way politics works within the eUK...and you can play an important part in that change.
We have become a valuable alternative for gamers who want their game to be the game that they signed up to. Gamers have witnessed older players attempting to remove powers away from the game into an unelected forum that ebbs away at the rights situated to you by eRepublik. The rules are there for a reason, maybe you should try and reform them rather than scrap them entirely. We don't want congressmen accepting EDEN citizenships in return for money now do we? We'd be overrun in no time, and would end up with our money stolen and our country wiped, like Egypt and Norway have been so many times.
What do you mean by the forums being "unelected" btw? I'm pretty sure you can only elect people, not websites, and every person is invited to use the forums.

Well they could accept Eden citizens for cash now anyway couldn't they? At least with a committee representing all top five parties to advise the congress member then there is more scope for respect and listening to your party representatives opinion.
As for the forums, Its been admitted already that it is owned privately and the mods are chosen by one man...hardly a democratic forum if we are honest

The current system punishes those who let in enemies for cash, you want to scrap that and make it a free for all. Swapping Iain for a comittee deciding on citizenships is a constructive idea, though ofc it would require forums to work, shame you argue against it in the article.
As for the forums being owned by one man, it isn't ideal but until you suggest a better way by which 40 people can have discussions both publicly and privately I don't see how else to do it.
It's like Karl Marx argument against Capitalism, that we will get rid of it once we have found the better alternative, this could apply to the Forums that it has made improvements just that we will one day find a better way to do it

Citizenship committees have been tried and tested haven't they? It all went tits up if I remember correctly.
@Mr Woldy why have you got the made up title of king of England ? and why do TUP use this as a selling point to join there party ?

Look at the url Hugh, it's an in game article. Erepublik is not very good at estimating threats.
You don't have to follow the link, you can find this article in Lord Lewis Cromwell's news paper. No warning if you click on it there.
Some erep roles are equivalent to those in the RL civil service, like processing immigration requests. In those cases it should be run by the best people for the job, not some politically appointed committee of 5 PPs' best friends. Iain is the best, and he's done it perfectly up to now, so why change it?

Why didn't UKPP or NE congressmen accept him, given that they refuse to follow the rules set out in the forums, and have accepted other people who haven't applied on the forums? If he'd applied on the forums he'd have been in really quickly.

The reason Eno wasn't let in was because he left the eUK to fight for our enemies, he said so himself. Why do you want someone like that in the eUK?
