Could appearing weak be affecting our citizenship numbers?
WastelandENT
Hello eSA,
Since I have been a citizen of eSA I have noticed a few articles and many arguments concerning one main issue eSA faces, whether or not we should attempt to end Brazil's occupation of eSA'an territories.I have seen arguments on both sides that are valid. Some say we need Brazil's rental payment in order to keep our economy afloat while others say that Brazil does not care about us and we need to reclaim our regions. The question I would like to ask eSA today is this, If you were new to social MMO's such as eRepublik and were just trying to learn the ropes and get involved in the game, would you join a nation who does not even have all their regions? A nation who seems to be too weak to claim what is rightfully theirs?
(Who would you want to join?)
I understand that this is a deal that was made a while back and that it gives us a great boost to our economy, but a new player who is just looking at the game for the first time would not understand that. I say these things because from what I have been reading from everyone so far is that eSA needs a population boost in order to sustain ourselves and become strong enough to stand up to nations like Brazil. If we need a population growth but we appear to be weak, would that not leave us in a vicious cycle that doesn't end?
I am not using this as an argument for one side or the other, I will keep my opinion to myself for now; as this is a news article, not propaganda. This is merely food for thought.
If this gets enough responses I may even post another article with a link to a poll so we can see what side of the argument has the majority.
Thank you for reading eSA

Good article, however, the majority voted last CP elections. It was Me vs Luna. I ran on an entirely "Get out of the Treaty" campaign and Luna didn't. The majority voted VERY much in favor of Luna.
I see, well no poll needed then. I just figured I would throw out another thought on the issue because I had not seen any one mention this possibility yet.
A keen prospect for the future of eSA
how much does brazil pay us to occupy our territory ?
What is done with this money ? are we pilling stocks of weapons, Food, Cash, Gold ? if so, will it be shared amogst the population ?

You have a valid point, but what will happen if we get all our regions. I believe Brazil will not let us out the treaty besides playing lip service. So, a wiped country gets not new citz, while a partial country does. Would be better for us to all pool out money in some trust account and advertise in NAG Mag or something. They would be the best way to get a baby boom. Perhaps a Facebook advert
Very nicely crafted article!

@Mark Morcom an advertisement strategy could be a very good idea. Has eSA tried one in the past, if so did it work? If it has not been tried then that could be something worth looking into.
We have tried to get an article published. This was something that Grimstone championed during his presidency. When I was CP i sent a press-pack to all newspapers in South Africa. As far as I know Grim did not succeed and neither did I.
The strategy can work. I believe that Brazil owes it size to a successful advert on a Portuguese forum which goat f**ckers frequent.
I see. Well then maybe we should attempt pool some money and start an advertisement committee.
Also, sense we are on the subject of bringing in new citizens. Here is a link to an article from Guardian Publishing for anyone who has not seen it yet.

The article talks about ways that every citizen can help bring new citizens to eSA.
Voted, it is good to see new blood come into this country with some new fresh thoughts.
Here is some statistics on new players.

Thank you! That link is a great tool.
