Preparing for the Inevitable; Serbia vs Turkey?
Shoi12
With Bulgaria down to two provinces, it has been disturbingly clear that Turkey will soon share a border with powerhouse Serbia. This could be the start of the great Black Sea war.
Serbia is a beast. We can all agree on that. That's how they ate up Bosnia & Herzegovina, southern Italy, and Croatia in the first place. In any 1v1 battle, I'd probably bet my money on the Serbs. So why do I think this war will happen? Really simple, actually.
First of all, Serbia has nothing else to do. Other than putting down revolts in Slovenia (oh no) and stopping Bosnian nationalists (red alert), they have done nothing but fight Austria (a major threat) and eat up all the weak countries to its north. Now, Serbia is in pristine condition. With no major powers attacking it, it has free reign to do whatever it wants.
Turkey, on the other hand, is making slow progress in its attack on Bulgaria. Any monkey wrench in their plans could help Bulgaria regain the upper hand. With a menace like Serbia attacking them, not only would Bulgaria regain their lands, but Turkey could be straight-up wiped.
What about allies? Well, the only countries near enough to affect the outcome are Italy, Greece, FYROM, Albania, and Romania. Italy and Albania are too weak and distracted to do anything, Greece and FYROM are duking it out and won't be of any help, and Romania seems reluctant to fight Serbia.
What would happen if Turkey fought Serbia? With a lack of fronts to attack Serbia, it's hard to imagine such a powerful country not completely blitzing Turkey. With forces already spread thin in Spain, France, and Greece, there isn't enough support to expect much more than a one-on-one duel to the death, and, as I said before, I wouldn't bet against Serbia in a one-on-one fight. It's possible that Serbia would completely wipe Turkey before freeing Bulgaria, which would eat up Turkish revolts and restore its borders at its height.
So what does mean for Turkey in terms of options? With a border with Serbia looking like an awful idea, it may be time to swallow its pride and stop short of full wiping for Bulgaria. With a line of provinces forming a wall for Turkey, it could end up preventing ONE's ascent to ruling Eastern Europe. Such control over a key area could tip the global war in ONE's favor.
Until next time, take care!

Somebody should recruit Shoi12 for some govt. work. Here, take my job ; )
then again, eCan media can use a steady source of good material, so perhaps independent reporting is best.
Eh, I'm still kinda new, so I'll stick with propaganda, er newspaper articles for now : D
Romania is reluctant to fight Serbia on it's own and you are forgetting Croatia, even if it's not on the map right now it is an important player in the balkans. I suspect Romania and Turkey will both attack Serbia when the time is right, Romania from the North from their newly discovered province (Ria-Ria-Hungaria) and Turkey from the east from their Bulgarian provinces.
There is another scenario however, Romania attacks Serbia and keeps it distracted while Turkey and Greece gang-bang Fyrom.
@nea milosu You're forgetting about big boy Poland who has a border with Romania. You think they'd let Romania try to beat up their buddy Serbia? They'd NE them in a heartbeat, and start the invasion of Romania on both fronts. And without land in the Balkans Croatia's usefulness and importance is limited. After all, no one talks about Bosnia and Herzegovina because they own no land. It's the same deal. And Bulgaria won't go down without a fight. They'll keep RWing and annoying the Turks.
Good point about Romania and Poland but you are forgetting that Poland and Romania have a one region border, in the event Poland NE's Romania that region is freed in a hearth beat leaving Poland on the fence.
If Turkey attacks Serbia, Serbia will be wiped out. Why ? Well with Turkey attacking Serbia everyone will use their chance, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia ( Croats have the most powerfull players in eRep ), Italy, Romania, maybe even Greece will do anything to try and get the border with Serbia so they can also have a piece of that cake. Just because you are new, like you said, you don't know that this scenario has happened few times in eRep history. Croats, Bosnians and Romanians managed that
@ Mochan Drust: Croatia will take a while to get to full strength, and if Romania intervenes, Poland will invade Romania. However, I don't think Serbia wants to go to war with Turkey, because they NE'd France recently, to help Hungary.
Turkey will have a very hard time keeping the Bulgarians down, like how the Bulgarians had trouble keeping Turkey down. If a war with Serbia erupts, Bulgaria will free itself and immediately attack the Turkish homeland, with Serbia
Hey GC, propaganda much, read what I said, if Poland NEs Romania, Romania RWs one region and Poland just wasted a nice little law. Also get up to str? This is erepublik, you can be at your best without a country... Right now the balkans aren't looking good for ONE.
If you guys haven't seen yet, Serbia is about to NE Turkey. *rubs hands* This is gonna be FUN. : D
You had a good eye to see what was on the horizon, Shoi. Now what do you have to say about the Irish-UK treaty?
With Scotland in revolts and pressure to abandon the treaty on both sides, I see nothing but war on the horizon. (More fun for us: )
Treaties...they are a fun concept...though it's unfortunate that Germany-Poland's was complicated by Ireland...who is now having treaty complications of its own...as our CP said, perhaps treaties are better not entered into atm.
You have my sub &vote!
