Patton facing internal unrest in Fianna Fail

The rumoured internal unrest within Fianna Fáil has boiled over tonight, with one of the party's senior congressmen [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-203192.html]publicly attacking[/a] leader patton and calling for his resignation.

[a url=http://www.erepublik.com/profile-71221.html]Seloth[/a], who is [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/members_list-0-7.html]ranked fourth within the party[/a] and is much respected in eIreland, has harshly criticised patton and said his economic policies would ruin the country if made Government policy.

Patton, who has recently come under a cloud due to the [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-202181.html]revelation that he owned a mercenary army[/a] while also being in charge of the Irish state army, responded by laughing off the suggestion and criticising Seloth himself.

Having lost two consecutive Presidential/Congressional elections in recent months rumours began to spread that FF party members had grown tired of patton's leadership and wanted change.

Party sources told The Irish Press earlier this month that many had hoped to peacefully depose patton in the party elections last week, however no single senior candidate could be found to mount a meaningful challenge to his reign.

The same source suggested that many saw the upcoming local and national elections as the final chance for patton to bring Fianna Fáil to power in eIreland.

Signs have been mounting in recent months that patton's support within Fianna Fáil has declined. When he established a petition to drop taxes in eIreland he only gained the support of four of his party's members out of nearly 50.

As well as this former FF congressman [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/profile-26153.html]Vyse[/a] walked away from the party last week to take charge of his new [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/party-103.html]Blue Rogues[/a] organisation and has been critical of patton's actions and ideas ever since then.

Patton still enjoys the support of many of the more senior members of Fianna Fáil however it is unclear how many of the party's members are as supportive at this time. The recent revelations about his mercenary army as well as his stance on the USA/Canada war have proven to be useful fodder for his harshest critics and have even led to calls for him to quit eIreland for good.
