Mud not the fountain that gave drink to thee - The Rape of Lucrece

Day 1,623, 13:41 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Viglius

The coming elections have, for the first time in months, been muddled by one of the candidates. Instead of trying to convince people of the strengths of his own program and ideas, ex-CP and Member of Congress Auggustus (I&W) felt the need to write an article wherein he drags the name of ex-CP and Chairman of Congress ElGorro (GPN) through the mud. How sad to see this coming from someone who has been a respectable President in his last term.

So, let me honour the name of this newspaper for once by digging up some facts and fun idioms. To begin with: Auggustus’ article is as clear as mud, leaving our country stuck in the mud in the process. Why? Because judging by this article, Auggustus can be described as a stick-in-the-mud, not willing to listen to people, not willing to really work together with anyone who has a different opinion.

By this dirty article of his, Auggustus is muddying the waters by obscuring and twisting the facts. Plans? Not even a single one! Only empty rhetoric. If slinging mud is the only thing he can do, and I have to admit that he’s a pro, I don’t see any point in his candidacy. I would ask him to remember one important thing, though: mud sticks. Auggustus’ name will be mud if he wishes to run his campaign like this.

I, for one, reject this course of action, and I hope all candidates will refrain from these muddy tactics in the coming days. May the most honorable man win!
