Hello eBelgian/congress candidate

You may have decided to run for congress, but do you know what this is really about, except receiving a nice shiny medal?



How to run for congress

First of all, you need to be a member of a political party, doesn't matter which. After you joined, you can find the "run for congress" button at the section "congress elections". You will need to be located at a region of eBelgium to get in the elections. For example: if you want to run in Brussels, you will need to be located in Brussels at the time you decide to run for congress. When you applied, you can move back to your previous location if you want.

You can also add a motivation article to inform everyone about your choice to run for congress. This is not necessary, but it could give you more votes.

Your party president has the option to select the official candidates every 24th of each month.



Election day

After you voted, you can see the non-official results so far. These get updated every time someone votes, so you can follow closely the way things go.

In eBelgium, in normal conditions, there are 30 congress(wo)men. The 9 highest voted candidates of each region get chosen. This means that 27 citizens a place. The other 3 candidates are "wild cards". Besides the candidates that have received a congress seat via their region, the remaining candidates with the highest number of votes from all regions gain a wildcard and become congress members as well.

When the day is over, the unofficial results are announced. After being checked if everyone went fair (multi-accounts, possibility of being hacked,...), the official result will be announced and the persons who got in congress get their medal, together with a reward of 5 gold.



Your responsiblities as congressmen

As a member of congress, you can propose laws and accept new citizens. In eBelgium, things are a bit more "complicated". Congress members are highly recommended to join the eBelgian forum (the link can be found at the bottom of this article)! The law proposals get discussed here, and there are some extra laws too, which you don't find ingame (like the citizen packs, organization of the official military units etc.).

Do not start "rogue proposals"! These proposals can create suspicion in other nations, certainly if it means an attempt to go to war. This is not appreciated and you can get blamed if this occurs multiple times. New congress members: don't worry! A mistake can easily been made, and older congress members are always ready to help you out.

The immigration part is fairly easy at the moment: DO NOT ACCEPT PENDING CITIZENS! As eBelgium is under heavy PTO-threat at the moment, there is a temporarily migration stop. You get as a congress member a pass to accept a citizen, but this HAS to be discussed on the forum, in the private congress-section.
