Last important feature implemented

The war module was the final important section planned to be launched in this Erepublik Beta version. Starting today the team (besides the devs, that will fix current bugs and improve the loading time) will start working on the specs and design of the new version.
We learned a lot from the ideas that we implemented and we can say that the next version will benefit from the mistakes and also the good features that we have come up with until now.
We will let you know soon what the V1 improvements will be, but there will also be some really interesting surprises that we want to keep secret (expect repetitive tasks to become a lot more fun).
Meanwhile, on Friday we had a huge server load issue and we had to apply urgent measures and changes to code. There was not enough time to test them so new bugs appeared. Today many of them were resolved and, as stated before, we will continue over the next period to focus only on the bugs and on improving the code and the war system.
USA vs Canada war
The war between USA and Canada that started on 11th of April, took an unexpected turn. For the moment we decided that it is better to have a temporary cease fire until we manage to solve all existing problems related to the war module. For the next days both Canada and the US won't be able to attack territories that before the war corresponded to the enemy.
During this time the Presidents of USA and Canada can either:
- prepare for the next battles;
- sign a peace treaty.
Either way, when the war will end both countries will receive from the Admin a sum of gold equal to the cost of declaring the war.
We thank all the US and Canadians Citizens for the war effort and for the feedback. We know that the war and fight pages can be improved and we are going to work on this. Other more complex but very entertaining improvements that will give more importance to skill are already decided and will appear in V1.

Admin, there are canadians fighting as defenders for the US, its a bug. You need to check it out canadians are fighting Canadians atm, our 60 troops are now on the US side.

In a mysterious way all the bugs seem to favor the USA... requesting 100 welness an a Q3 weapon... and next time pls maybe have a look at what you did when you fix something... this 1 was ridiculous simple to spot

The Staff should also focus more on customer service. In a game like this it\'s very good and effective to ACTUALLY response within 48 hours (not a whole week...) and helping.

oh god, once people start reading this, alot of heads are gonna roll...but the Canadians fighting themselves is interesting. i caught that when i was checking battle history. but this was only for the unsecured territories. why cant we see the battle history for territories already fought over.

The Canadians found a way of getting around that somehow. Notice that there are 60+ of them in one region now and how they managed to take back control of already conquered regions (ones that the US managed to take the first day) after you declared a cease fire.
i join battle in canada, i fough over 30 time, now my weapon Q4 in my inventory -28, although i have another weapon Q2 and Q3, please fix this bug.

Are the hospitals going to be operational if fighting resumes?
@ROMMEL: Aside from the hospital usage, you guys managed to GET AROUND a bug. That is the equivalent to the Americans finding a way of using the hospitals continuously even after the admins took them away. This is similar because after the admins took fighting away, the cease fire, you guys figured out a way of continuously attacking us Americans.
@Admins: I don\'t know if you realize it, but the war module hasn\'t gone too swimmingly thus far. In the future, you need to have a backup server to test things on before putting them out to the real thing.
When do you update to V1?

Admins, can you at least explain why almost every single action taken thus far has favored the Americans?
1) Allowing them to keep the territories they conquered unjustly
2) Limiting the amount of land we could take back when we had a clear advantage
3) Continuing a cease fire when we have a strategic advantage so they can rebuild their forces and economy
4) Pitting Canadians against Canadians
5) Reimbursing them now for a war they likely would have lost
I recognize that it has been plagued by bugs but your response to these bugs has disproportionately favored one side. I would just like to hear some rationale for the positions you have taken over the course of this war.

@Flik: Yes. As well as wellness boxes.
Benn 2) is incorrect, there was 24 hour ceasefire in which no fighting occurred, we took back our territories only after that cease fire ended. The bug at the time was that we were able to attack a number of your states which we shouldn\'t have been able to and surprisingly, the admins fixed that almost immediately. Had they not, at least 5-10 states would be under our control (albeit unfairly but the fact is they fixed that almost immediately but haven\'t addressed bugs directed against us).
As for 5) you can dismiss this as fact but even with your immortal soldiers, had war remained open and no cease fire enforced, we currently would have back all our territories and be moving in US lands. Without the first day exploit, even more land would now be under Canadian control. The intervention of the admins have saved your country from territorial losses on every occasion so far while doing nothing but limit our capabilities with the exception of the first day immortal exploit in which they at least stopped the ability to exploit the bug, but still our lands remained lost.
WHAT? You\'re giving the americans a free war, when they obiovusly werent prepared enough to win? Admins, give me an answer here. Both countries have been affected by problems in the war module. That\'s why we will give as a partial compensation that sum of gold. Additionally we gave back the wellness lost by Canadian soldiers in fights that didn\'t worked right.
We have a test server just that the time was short to test the module and the hospital bug kind of messed things a lot.
Meanwhile we are fixing bugs.

Fair enough, it is of course your game and run it as you see fit. That said I\'m still not in complete agreement of the actions taken so far and I hope, at the least, this war can continue on fair grounds in the coming days regardless of any compensation from above.
My main disagreement with full reimbursement is simply the fact that it encourages our enemies to continue mass spending because they know much of their financial losses will be regained and it will cause the war to continue for a longer period as they will be less likely to accept peace proposals that favor us which they would have had to accept under different circumstances. At the same time this will allow you to further test the war module on a large scale so I understand there are some positive returns for the game as a whole.
Lastly, I\'m just curious about your stance on opening new accounts for embassies and training centers as the eAmericans have done. All in all 82 new accounts were created which netted them a sum of 410 gold. If this is allowed, I foresee most if not all nations following suit but I think a statement by the admins would go along way to clear up whether this is multi-accounting or a just use of diplomacy.
How long until V1? Just approximately ... summer, fall, winter, 2009?
