Departure

Day 1,531, 05:26 Published in Ireland Ireland by DerBrad

After much deliberation and months of tossing and turning, I've decided to leave eRepublik indefinitely. RL responsibilities bla bla bla. I have started to melt down my possessions/companies, to ensure that the value in my account stays in eIreland.

Its been almost 2 years since I was born. I'm proud to say that I was an eIrish citizen for 100% of my eLife. At my most active I was MoC, prior to that I was Irish ambassador to Brazil and Portugal. It was at the MoC that I had the most fun and made the most friends. I've also been a congressman 6 times.

A note on that - I was elected into congress from Shannon 4 days ago. I'm not resigning my post there. Its going to take me weeks to sell off my assets and melt down everything. As always, I will be voting in every congress vote until the 25th of Feb, for that is my duty to eIreland. I've used my CS pass to bring back a true Irish legend (Yddub Emwolb). I ask our CP to contact me about using my proposals for the betterment of eIreland.

My favourite aspect of the game has always been the economics module and for the first few months of my eLife I ran successful companies throughout Europe, employing over 200 people at its peak. Changes to the game meant that this was no longer possible for me, but then I set up all my businesses in eIreland and I've been an active businessman there for the majority of my eLife. I always paid well-above market rates and bonuses to workers who had great attendance records.

During my eLife I was a member of the Irish Army and I'm proud to say that I've finished my eLife in Libertad-IRE. While my time in the IA was a positive experience, it was in Libertad-IRE that I felt most at home. My favourite battles were when I was fighting for eIreland, eCroatia and eCanada.

I've been in many political parties throughout the years but I've mostly remained independent, finishing up my political career (where I started it) at the Irish Independence Party. Its in great hands at the moment with my RL brother, who did an excellent job in the recent elections. I strongly believe that eIreland needs independent thinking and differing views. We cant always agree on everything, in fact its healthier to disagree. Its our ability to deal with conflict that will determine our successes/failures. Remember that your view is rarely 100% right and your opposition is rarely 100% wrong. We need to listen to each other more, rather than attacking and driving away those who disagree with your opinions. A monopoly of opinions will lead to a weaker eIreland.

Too many friends to mention in an article here, you know who you are. Many friends from the IA, Libertad-IRE and from my time as MoC. More friends who worked in my companies throughout the years. To all of you, I say thanks, its the friendships that make it worthwhile.

Now I'm going to put all of my resources into Wexford to help keep the brits out!
