[Election results] A summary of the Congress election 25/10

Day 1,436, 07:16 Published in Sweden Sweden by Valnad

This article will give a summary of the Congress election, which ended this morning with the results being finalized in the afternoon.

Once again, eSweden loses 8 seats due to the conflicts in our Norwegian and Danish sattelite regions. Not only does this affect the totals, but many voters cast their votes in vain and it is important to note this when we look at the totals.

Last month gave 6 first-time congressmen. This month we see an increase in this number with IdeeFix, Greven1, Moffegreven, Fredrok, AndyJ83, OttoFan, alkarn and Gustavo Llosson all entering the Congress arena for the firt time. Also, our very own vingaer (sorry, loland) may be included in this section as her previous congress experience comes from other countries.

Flashback Sweden (FBS) had a good run last month with their 12 seats and considering that many of their candidates this month were unknown to the majority of the voters, it's impressive to see their numbers increase from yet another seat to reach the total of 13. Just like last time, the runner-up Folkhemsdemokraterna (FHD) managed to fend of the competition from below but fell short in trying to overtake the position as top dog. But they've lost two seats, ending up with 7 in total, while the younger parties have increased their presence. I also reported last month that Partiet kepts losing ground and they were down to an all-time low of 5 seats. Unfortunately for them, this month is no different and they're now down to the marginalized number of 3 seats. Keep in mind that one of these seats were taken by w3st3rb3rg, who actually belonged to The Ambassadors prior to the election. If he decides to go back, Partiet has lost more 60% of their seats from last month.

Meanwhile the peaches taste like sour grapes in Partiet, we notice smiling candidates in the two younger parties; Marknadspartiet and Nybörjardemokraterna. If we begin with Marknadspartiet - who's voters managed to gain 4 seats both last month and the election before that - they have taken yet another seat and replaced Partiet as the third largest party in the Congress with a total of 5 seats. Nybörjardemokraterna, who surprisingly gained a lot of members during the last two weeks, kicked MSAP down from the Top 5 and in their first-ever election NBD managed to end up with 4 seats. Considering the fact that 100% of their new congressmen never had been in Congress before, it would only be fair to crown NVD as this month's big winner. Partiet, on the other hand, is undoubtedly a party that should be displeased with the results from the October election.

The following statistics are compared to the previous election in September.

Total number of votes in the election: 525 (-34)
Total presence of the voting population: 31.08% (-2.66😵
Total number of candidates running: 47 (-23)
Percentage of running candidates electe😛 68.1% (44.3% (+23.8😵
Number of new candidates from last month: 22 = 15 = 68.75 48.4% (+20.35😵
Number of "first time" candidates electe😛 8 = 25% (+8.9😵

No votes were removes this month, but like I said at the beginning: keep in mind that many candidates and votes did not count in this election due to eSweden losing regions!

The Wildcards (14)

Last month only had 4 wildcards, whereas this month had a whooping 14 in total.

The observant reader may notice that MP gained 4 out of 5 seats and Partiet 2 out of 3 from Wildcards. Other than that, it's fairly expected numbers compared to the totals in the election with FBS having 4, FHD 3 and NBD getting a single one.

It should be noted, however, that Partiet had two candidates on the verge of gaining Wildcards, just 1 vote short of bumping two candidates from NBD off the charts. That would've given a very different outcome and shows how much a single voter may influence these elections.

Flashback Sweden got 13 seats / 40.6%
Larm, Dalze, Caelo, Jim Parsons, Moffegreven, Fredrok, Rape on Backyard (W) Carl Johansen (W), ghorby (W), Lemlin, vingaer (W), Rahla and Sapora.

Back to the number of seats they held in augusti, this is still a much, much better result. Just like last month it proves that FBS is much better equipped to challenge the difficulties of losing election regions before the final results. With a higher presence than I've seen them have in 2 years time, FBS is undoubtely the King Pin in eSwedish congress elections right now!

Rahla, Lemlin, Larm, Sapora and Jim Parsons maintained their seats from last month while the other eight made it back from having previously belonged to other parties (or countries) and in Moffegreven's and Fredrok's case, being entirely new to the congress.

Last month showed a high inefficiency in terms of number of seats per voters. This month they only wasted 8 votes on candidates that didn't make it to the Congress, although they still wasted a lot of effort giving their top 3 names a total of 121 votes - which is more than any of the other parties managed to get in total.

With at total vote count of 231 they actually gained 3 votes from last month. It's the 8 burned votes compared to the previous 55 that is more interesting. Their new party leader, Jim Parsons, had a clear strategy of only running the official candidates through "safe regions" and leaving the Danish and Norwegian colonies alone. This proved to be a diamond strategy. They also went down from 25 candidates to 17 and still managed to get one more candidate elected, which is a brilliant effort. Shortly put: eSweden is dangerously close to becoming a one-party state once again. At least for now.

Statistics for FBS:

Result based on last month's election: +1 (+1.9😵
Total number of votes on FBS candidates: 231 (+3)
Percentage of total amount of votes: 44% (+3.2😵
Total number of FBS candidates: 17 = 36.2% (+0.5😵
Percentage of FBS candidates electe😛 13/17 = 76.5% (+28.5😵
Number of new FBS candidates from last month: 8 = 61.5% (-13.5😵
Number of "first time" FBS candidates electe😛 2 = 15.4% (-9.6😵
Number of re-elected FBS candidates: 5/13 = 38.46% (+13.5😵

Folkhemsdemokraterna got 7 seats / 21.9%
Olle21, Volcker, Johannes Svaerd (W), lordkrall (W), Oscdar, Osis O'flax and Bjork Igdunbjorg (W).

Last month I gave praise to FHD's voting efficiency and coordination. With no more than 15 burned votes, they're still living up to that reputation, even though they're nowhere near FBS in that aspect this time around.

Running with only 11 candidates and securing 7 seats is no shame. Just like last month, FHD had fewer candidates than their main competitors. But even though they almost reached the same level of elected candidates as last month (64% compared to 69😵 they lost the efficiency crown to FBS in this aspect too (64% compared to 76😵 which is a noticeable change from last month's result.

Down to a total of 102 votes, FHD continues to lose voting strength. In two months they've lost 46.7% voters which can only be matched by Partiet. This needs to change if they are to compete with FBS again, although it's still impressive that they manage to cling on to sufficient amount of seats to stay in second place.

One of the big surprises last month was that FHD - notoriously famous for their newbie-praising marketing strategy - had only a single "first timer" among their candidates and a high percentage of old, famous members taking the seats. This month they've solidified this even further by having 100% congress members with prior experience and a whooping 71.4% (!) re-elected candidates, in which aspect they're well ahead of the competition.

Having won the last two president elections, it's a bit of a surprise to see FHD lose track in the congress elections. Although they're still second only to FBS, that distance is steadily increasing, while the substantially smaller parties are eating up their head start. Having nearly 22% seats in the Congress can never be ruled as a bad result, but it's still a disappointing considering the potential that FHD has showed during the spring and early summer elections.

Statistics for FH😨

Result based on last month's election: -3 (-0.29😵
Total number of votes on FHD candidates: 102 (-22)
Percentage of total amount of votes: 19.4% (-2.8😵
Total number of FHD candidates: 12 = 25.5% (+7.0😵
Percentage of FHD candidates electe😛 7/12 = 58.33% (-10.9😵
Number of new FHD candidates from last month: 2 = 28.6% (-4.7😵
Number of "first time" FHD candidates electe😛 0 (-11.1😵
Number of re-elected FHD candidates: 5/7 = 71.4% (+4.8😵

Partiet got 3 seats / 9.4%
w3st3rb3rg, Snaskefar and intyala.

Having once been the largest and most active party in the Congress, Partiet is now no more than a shadow of its past glory. This month's poor result may partly explained by some of their members leaving to form the new party The Ambassadors. They also lost two seats with only 1 votes margin to NBD and had they instead won those, things would've looked very different.

Even so, there's not much else to say about this month's election from Partiets perspective. It's an election they do best in quickly putting behind them. In fact, I think it's a necessity for them to do so if they are to stay in the top 5 much longer.

Statistics for Partiet:

Result based on last month's election: -2 (-40😵
Total number of votes on Partiet candidates: 56 (-32)
Percentage of total amount of votes: 10.66% (-5.0😵
Total number of Partiet candidates: 7 = 14.5 (-5.0😵
Percentage of Partiet candidates electe😛 5/13 = 38.4% (-18.0😵
Number of new Partiet candidates from last month: 0 (-20😵
Number of "first time" Partiet candidates electe😛 0 (+-0😵
Number of re-elected Partiet candidates: 3/3 = 100% (+50😵

Marknadspartiet got 5 seats / 15.6%
C.Nilsson, Jetzetan, Alkarn (W), Gustavo Llosson (W) and Jacce

Last month was Marknadspartiets second election after the take-over of the former party known as Aurora. They quickly learned how much a notorious troll could harm a political party, especially if allowed land a congress seat. Kallespanns short career in MP released a storm of criticism after his obvious intent to troll the congress right from the start of the term. Despite all of the commotion, MP seem to have shrugged off the worst of it and came back strong in the election this month.

They actually increased their number of seats by one even though they lost a few of their voters from last month. There's not much to add other than one thing, but that is however a very interesting detail: MP managed to get ALL of their candidates elected this month. This means that they didn't waste a single vote and is the second party after Partiet (which seem like a decade ago right now) to manage this fantastic achievement!

In other words, their candidates and voters must sure be pleased by this result and a bit of a surprise to see them shrug off the "crisis" from last month so easily.

Statistics for Marknadspartiet:
Result based on last month's election: +1 (+25😵
Total number of votes on Marknadspartiet candidates: 44 (-😎
Percentage of total amount of votes: 8.4 (-0.9😵
Total number of Marknadspartiet candidates: 5 (-2)
Percentage of Marknadspartiet candidates electe😛 100% (+42.9😵
Number of new Marknadspartiet candidates from last month: 4 = 80% (+5😵
Number of "first time" Marknadspartiet candidates electe😛 2 = 40% (-10😵
Number of re-elected Marknadspartiet candidates: 1 = 20% (-5😵

Nybörjardemokraterna got 4 seats / 12.5%
Ideefix, Greven1, AndyJ83 andOttoFan (W).

Following in the footsteps of recently founded Marknadspartiet, the party that call themselves Nybörjarpartiet has now went through its first congress election ever and came out of it 4 seats richer. Congratulations are definitely in order!

Those of you who wonder where NBD come from, well, I'm not sure if I'm the right person to ask such a question. To me it seemed as if they suddenly jumped up 40-50 members over night, but I reckon this increase in members must've occured during the last 2 weeks or so. Nevertheless, it resulted in NBD gaining ground and taking bumping MSAP down from the Top 5 party list again.

Due to the fact that this is their first election, I have no numbers to compare with, but one thing should still be note😛 100% of the candidates from NBD are new to the congress and this will be the first time they can call themselves congressmen! Perhaps this isn't much of a surprise, considering their name (Newbie Democrats) and the fact that they're mostly consisting of new players, but it's still a feat that deserves special mention.

Statistics for Nybörjardemokraterna:
Result based on last month's election: N/A
Total number of votes on NBD candidates: 71
Percentage of total amount of votes: 13.5%
Total number of NBD candidates: 7
Percentage of NBD candidates electe😛 5/7 = 71.4%

And at last, I believe that's it for this election and quite possibly the last article of this sort for the oversee-able future, as I didn't make it into the Congress this month and I had already decided to leave my post as Speaker before the election took place. Here's for hoping that my successor keep up this tradition and if not, well, I guess you'll have to bribe me back 😉

Give it a vote and sub if you're a statistics nerd. If nothing else, so to know when the next article comes out!
