The Illuminator

Welcome to today's version of The Illuminator! It is Sept. 27th, 2011, or day 1,407 of the New World, and there's only a week and a bit more until the October presidential elections.

Well, the mood towards President JNArno wasn't that great for the first few weeks of his term. Now, though, things have changed. All four regions of Switzerland were owned by Switzerland for the first time in many months! It looks like we're in a cycle with Slovenia, now (We take a region via RW, they take it back as we move on to next region, repeat repeat repeat), but that is way better than having no regions at all.

Before you read the interview, please note there is a survey you should take after reading it! It regards the state of Switzerland and will help determine the post-survey questions for part two of the interview. The link is at the bottom of the article.

So, without further ado, here is the interview!

Interview with President JNArno

Q: For the first 2 ½ weeks (Sept. 5 - Sept. 23) of your reign as President, all of Switzerland’s regions were occupied by Slovenia. Is there anything you think that you could have done to change that, now that we’re looking back on it?

A: First thing I wanted to do was to talk with them. I mean, we're not really in position of imposing things to a country like Slovenia and I didn't exactly know how things were with the previous governements so I decided to take my shot and see how things would go. In my mind, our relations with Slovenia were supposed to go that way: 20 days of talk, if nothing is done, 10 days of war.

In the end, I think that congress election was the perfect thing to make things move, it was difficult before. So I don't think I would have change anything.

Q: So far, there have been 3 articles written by you to the Swiss people in your presidency. Your first article contained news of you leaving for personal reasons (which is of course understandable, being busy IRL). Your second article was a bit more exciting, explaining "Operation Moskito" and our plan. Your third article was about how we had all of our regions back for the first time in a looong time (woohoo!). Was the lack of communication just because there was just nothing going on, or there was but we never found out? Is there anything exciting you've been holding back?

A: In an occupied country, I think there is only one important news: how things are going with the occupation and I think that our minds were full of this problem. Except MoD and MoFA, the other ministery had not a lot to do so there was no news from them. And about the negociations, I didn't want to give too much and the event proved that I was right. I wanted to write an article when we reached an agreement with president biis, but as the rest of his government didn't want to here about the deal, there was nothing to say.

So basically, yeah, there was not a lot of news! But... keep an eye on the media part during this last week, you could have a big surprise!

Q: Last week, you introduced “Operation Moskito”. Since then, Switzerland has had at least a few regions at a time and is receiving loads of international help (mostly from Croatia and other EDEN countries). Operation Moskito is therefore going very well so far. What lead up to us getting support from Croatia and EDEN? What is the possibility of Switzerland joining EDEN?

A: I have to admit that the first help was unexpected. But after my article, I received some PM from people willing to help, even from old friends who want to come and help eSwitzerland. I think that we look good to the rest of the worl😛 a little country being NE + attacked with 17 allies. Switzerland has been close to EDEN in his past and is also a place where a lot of powerful people came by at one point so I guess that this support with obvious to some allies.

About the possibility of joining EDEN, there is a long way ahead of us. But as I stated in my previous article, it might be the only way for our country to survive in this world.

Q: Switzerland recently tried to sign a MPP with Italy. It passed in Switzerland, but was stopped by Italy. What was the reason for them rejecting it (if you know)?

A: Well, I launched this MPP a bit to show Slovenia and the rest of the world that my intention to join EDEN was real. I choosed Italia because they helped us a lot but I could have chosen France, Croatia or even USA. It was a sign. Nothing was prepared, I didn't contact them and there was no negotiation. The point wasn't to have a MPP. In the end I'm happy it got rejected, it would have been 10'000CHF wasted as we might end up soon with no region and Italia has a big fight to do too. MPPs are not useful for our country, moving troops are.

Q: Do you think it is possible to liberate all of our regions and keep them from Slovenia by the end of your presidency?

A: It was done during 3 hours, why not more? It'll be hard, we all know that, but at 1vs1 in a RW with international help, we can do anything! But we can't win against Slovenia and its 17 allies, they'll have to stop attacking us.

Q: Though your term started slow, you now seem to be going at full speed. Switzerland is no doubt better off after these few days of activity than it has been for several months (though, of course, who knows what will happen in the coming days). So, do you think that your term so far has been successful?

A: I'd say no... Yes there has been some success and I think that we were able to move people in this country which is already a victory, we showed the world on which side we were and we gained a lot of respect and friends so on this part I'd say yes.

But at the end of this month, I'll probably feel like we could have done more and I'm very disapointed that we weren't able to have a congress even if it's because of a bug, I take it as a failure... The next president will have some huge things to do, things that I've started but that I probably won't be able to end before the 5th, that's why I think we could have done better.

But let's be honest, as you said, we're better than at the beginning of the month, so I think I have done my role, probably better than some of the previous presidents, even if they made this country "1000G richer"...

Conclusion & Survey

Well! All I can say is definitely, well said. I can't wait to see what that big surprise.

HERE is the aforementioned SURVEY - If you are an eSwiss citizen, live in eSwitzerland, have lived in eSwitzerland, or just want to take a survey, please do so here:

SURVEY

It will help determine the second set of questions for part two of Pres. JNArno's interview.

You can look forward to the post-survey interview, or Part Two of JNArno's interview in about a week or more. Before that, on Sunday, will be a new edition of Europe Today. There might be an article in between, somewhere too. Who knows!
