[Election results] A summary of the Congress election 25/9

Day 1,406, 08:07 Published in Sweden Sweden by Valnad

This article will give a summary of the Congress election, which ended this morning with the results being finalized in the afternoon.

First of all, let me start by for the first time welcoming Rahla, St.Rikardsburg, Charlie Frank, Jetzetan, IsseBisseWhy and Sapora to the Congress! These five candidates all made it through the gauntlet and came out with a new shiny medal and a briefcase full of responsibilities. The other twenty-six candidates have all been members at least once before.

Flashback Sweden (FBS) managed to secure their position as the largest party in the congress with their 12 new seats, while runner-up Folkhemsdemokraterna (FHD) safely resides in second place with 9. Being stuck in a down-dwindling spiral, Partiet keep losing seats and is now down to the all-time-low result of 5 seats. MSAP lost their foothold a bit and only managed to get their party president Beharede re-elected, while the new kid on the block - Marknadspartiet - managed to maintain their 4 seats from last month. MSAP is this round's sore loser, with only 1 out of 12 candidates elected despite having the best votes/member ratio of all parties.

The following statistics are unfortunately compared to the election in July instead of August, but nonetheless I feel that they serve a good purpose.

Total number of votes in the election: 559 (-52)
Total presence of the voting population: 33.67% (+3.4😵
Total number of candidates running: 70 (-6)
Percentage of running candidates electe😛 44.3% (-8.3😵
Number of new candidates from last month: 15 = 48.4% (-6.6😵
Number of "first time" candidates electe😛 5 = 16.1% (-16.4😵

A total of 9 votes where later removed by admins, but so these figures are slightly off!

The Wildcards (4)

We ususally see a lot more wildcards than this, so this election was very tight compared to previous months.

Flashback Sweden and Folkhemsdemokraterna split the mesely 4 wildcards evenly between themselves, with both of the FHD candidates (lordkrall and Bjork Igdunbjorg) being tied with runner's-up candidate Restriction for 14 votes but got ahead based on having a higher EXP rank.

It's not surprising to see that the big boys dominate the wild cards, considering how many votes a candidate must have to win that race. The 14 votes it took this month is by comparison a quarter of all the votes MSAP and MP had and only 6 out of the 70 eligible candidates managed to get more than that.

Flashback Sweden got 12 seats / 38.7%
Alfons Haschberg, Crazyfrog11, Rahla, Lemlin, St.Rikardsburg, Larm, Attax, Knodden, Ph Brodin, Sapora, Jim Parsons and ghorby.

Last months comback by FBS proved to be more than just a one-time high. Today they managed to secure 12 seats and although that is actually one seat short of their brilliant result in august, one needs to keep in mind that the total amount of seats went down from 41 to 31. This means that FBS actually strengthened their position in the congress by going from 32.5% to a whooping 38.7%!

But even though 12 of their candidates got in, another 13 missed the mark, which consequently makes FBS join MSAP in the club of least "efficient" partiesy. Another interesting note is that they replaced 75% of their previous congressmen but only a third of these newcomers lack previous experience from congressional work. If nothing else, I think itt shows that FBS has a wide spread of members with experience from the political scene.

With at total vote count of 228 and a total of 55 burned votes on candidates that didn't make it, FBS show that their large player base definitely pays off. Simply put: they lack the efficiency of the smaller parties and their voting spree quite frankly sucks more than Grubb on a hot summer's day, but then again, they don't really seem to need it. Right here, right now, they'll win the elections anyway. They went for the zerg strategy this month and right now, it seem to have payed off well.

Statistics for FBS:

Result based on last month's election: -1 (+7😵
Total number of votes on FBS candidates: 228 (+39)
Percentage of total amount of votes: 40.8% (+8.0😵
Total number of FBS candidates: 25 = 35.7% (+9.4😵
Percentage of FBS candidates electe😛 12/25 = 48% (-17😵
Number of new FBS candidates from last month: 9 = 75% (+5.8😵
Number of "first time" FBS candidates electe😛 3 = 25% (-21.1😵
Number of re-elected FBS candidates: 3/12 = 25% (-37.5😵

Folkhemsdemokraterna got 9 seats / 29.0%
Olle21, fabrorbla, JohannesSvaerd, Elsamba, Charlie Frank, adrazar, Osis O'flax, lordkrall and Bjork Igdunbjorg.

FHD has a good track-record in the last year or so of congress elections. Undoubtely one of the most efficient parties when it comes to coordinating voters, they ususally slide the scales in their favor the last hours of the election period. This month was no different, with FHD landing 9 seats and thus managing to maintain almost exactly the same percentage of seats as they had in the previous election (-0.3😵.

One of the things that separates FHD from their main competition this month is that they ran with very few candidates. Decreasing the voting-spree is something I've considered a good strategy in the past and obviously, by looking at their stats this month, FHD proves that to be true. With 69% of their running candidates elected they are not only well above the average (44😵 but also ahead of every other party this month.

On the downside, I've noted a quite substantial decrease in total amount of votes (>22😵 and even though Partiet lost more, their main competitor - FBS - actually gained an equal amount of votes (+39 compared to -35) and that is enough to give them an edge in the totals.

Having held the presidency for the first time ever may be another reason for the overall good outcome in this election. Surprisingly enough, FHD only have one "first timer" among their candidates and the rather high re-election rate (66😵 underlines the trend of successful congress parties eventually having mainly experienced candidates running for them.

Summarized, I'm not quite sure what to make of this result. FHD didn't win any ground, but they didn't lose any either. They're pretty much on the exact same spot as they were before. Considering the good result they had last time and also winning the presidency this month, I was actually expecting them to move forward. But, like I've said before, with this kind of efficiency and co-ordination it's no doubt that most FHD members will be pleased with the results from the september election as well.

Statistics for FH😨

Result based on last month's election: -3 (-0.29😵
Total number of votes on FHD candidates: 124 (-35)
Percentage of total amount of votes: 22.2% (-5.4😵
Total number of FHD candidates: 13 = 18.5% (+0.3😵
Percentage of FHD candidates electe😛 9/13 = 69.2% (-12.1😵
Number of new FHD candidates from last month: 3 = 33.3% (-20.5😵
Number of "first time" FHD candidates electe😛 1 = 11.1% (-12.0😵
Number of re-elected FHD candidates: 6/9 = 66.6% (+16.6😵

Partiet got 5 seats / 16.1%
Valnad, Snaskefar, intyala, Pink Freud och Quicktech

Partiet has been struggling with poor results in the elections since summer holidays started kicking in. Many active and successful members have left for other adventures or been rather inactive lately, including two-time president w3st3rb3rg, Dalze, Alatom, lorc, Yossi Ghinsberg, Puppeteer and many more.

It would seem as if Partiet are having a hard time couping with this unfortunate scenario, which is logical considering the state the country is in (down another thousand citizens the last month or so). It's simply a difficult time to attract new leaders and potential lime-light members. Evenso, we can see that there are still a few exceptions, where intyala - long time member of FHD - undoubtely must count as the most interesting "recruit job" right now.

Partiet needs to lick its paws fast and opt for a sizeable increase in efficiency, considering that they are still ranked Top 3 in members.

Statistics for Partiet:

Result based on last month's election: -3 (-18.6😵
Total number of votes on Partiet candidates: 88 (-67)
Percentage of total amount of votes: 15.7% (-10.5😵
Total number of Partiet candidates: 13 = 18.5% (-11.8😵
Percentage of Partiet candidates electe😛 5/13 = 38.4% (-18.0😵
Number of new Partiet candidates from last month: 1 = 20% (-18.5😵
Number of "first time" Partiet candidates electe😛 0
Number of re-elected Partiet candidates: 4/8 = 50% (+0😵

Marknadspartiet got 4 seats / 12.9%
Kallespann, Jetzetan, IsseBisseWhy and Hanibal den grumme.

In their first election ever, the newcomers in Marknadspartiet managed to secure 4 seats in the Congress. This month they decided to be at least as good as last time and are thus keeping their amount of congress members, although their relative influence increases due to the fact that the congress itself lost 10 seats.

Considering how they are merely 57 members and thus within the same size-range as MSAP (53), it is a very good result to gain almost 13% of the seats. They're also shifting out 75% of their previous staff for new ones and

With 52 votes divided upon 57 members, they have an eerily high voting ratio and in this respect MP together with MSAP have had a much better result than every other party this month. Having said that, it hardly comes as a surprise that MP also scored the highest percentage of elected seats per running candidate (57😵. I will refrain from speculating in why and how such small parties can gather such a high vote count, but it's definitely an interesting phenomenon.

Unfortunately, since I have gathered no data from MP in the previous election yet, there will be no comparsion in the stats section.

Statistics for Marknadspartiet:
Result based on last month's election: +0 (+0😵
Total number of votes on Marknadspartiet candidates: 52
Percentage of total amount of votes: 9.3%
Total number of Marknadspartiet candidates: 7
Percentage of Marknadspartiet candidates electe😛 4/7 (57.1😵
Number of new Marknadspartiet candidates from last month: 3 = 75%
Number of "first time" Marknadspartiet candidates electe😛 2 = 50%
Number of re-elected Marknadspartiet candidates: 1 = 25%

MSAP got 1 seat / 3.2%
Beharede... and that's it

MSAP loses three out of four seats and only manages to keep their strong man, party leader Beharede, in congress for another term. This result is of course a dissapointment to the far-left voters, especially considering how MSAP candidates got the rather astounding vote/member ratio of 107%! What this means is that they recieved more votes than they have members and by comparsion with MP, they only managed to get 25% of their seats.

Another interesting aspect of this result is the fact that Beharede barely made it in competition with C.Nilsson from MarknadsPartiet. He received two votes from FHD short before deadline and without those, MSAP would have had no seats at all. This is worth mention because it's unusual to see parties helping each other out these days and MSAP members often find themselves on the short end of the vote-coordination stick.

Statistics for MSAP:
Result based on last month's election: -3 (-75😵
Total number of votes on MSAP candidates: 57
Percentage of total amount of votes: 10.2%
Total number of MSAP candidates: 12
Percentage of MSAP candidates electe😛 1/12 = 8.33%

And at last, I believe that's it for this election, folks. Give it a vote and sub if you're a statistics nerd. If nothing else, so to know when the next article comes out!
