Hello and welcome to my newspaper article thing. Go ahead, sit down, and get comfortable, as this interview and its background story is long. This interview happened late at night, partly due to my luck and my success in killing off the president's bodyguards. I didn't mean to say that out loud...

It all began on a warm September day when I sent the president an interview, and he agreed to answer my questions. A day passed and I didn't think much of it, the President is after all a busy man. Then a second day passed and a third. Then I started to wonder what had happened to my message.

Because I was worried, I took a trip to my local post office. When I managed to get there despite all the bumps on the roads and the strange people walking around trying to eat me, I arrived at the post office to find this:



Obviously I ignored the sign and went in. Long story short, I barely managed to get out after fighting my way through hordes of zombies and then proceeded to immediately hand deliver the message to the President and waste his time.



Unfortunately my horse didn't make it.

The following is the President's reply to my questions:

How did you first get involved in politics?

I was chosen to help Nicholas Ryan as the honorary VP of SEES. I started by helping organize and herd people on election days. It was fun and the people that I met in SEES have spread all over the eUSA. They understood how to play this game, like it was intended, as a game. I worked there for a couple months, and we saw that SEES as a political party was no longer to be. We disbanded and went our seperate ways. I chose the USWP because I knew that they were a solid organization. I quickly became CoS, so I learned the ins and outs very quickly. I was not able to be as involved as I wanted while I was Secretary of Defense, but they have allowed me to remain on the Executive Board. I appreciate all their guidance and advice in my ramp up and eventual election to Country President. If you would like to be CP, you can do no better.

What inspired you to run for office and to what do you think you owe your success during the elections?

As Secretary of Defense I noticed that you need a strong military background to be an effective Country President. I choose to run for CP because I knew that my experience and leadership could help the US in its Wars. I am now faced with some of the most tough decisions in my term. THe next week is critical for the US and her allies.

Now that you are President, how do you feel and how has your game play experience been affected?

I feel great. I have a solid team in place. One thing that has change is PMs. I get a lot more in-game and talk to a lot more people via PMs on IRC. It's fine, just don't get to visit and be social as much as before.

What would you like to improve on during your term in office?

I have been attempting to figure out successful resource acquisition. THe swaps with Canada were a bust because the regions kept being RW'd immediately. We are ok with not having ours back because we have duplicates of each, but it's still annoying. Each time we've cut Spain's resources to our benefit, they have fought extremely hard to get them back.

Do you have any plans or goals that you would like to achieve as President?

I have asked my VP to work on promoting erepublik on gaming websites and forums. The eUSA is outnumbered two to one by the top four ONE countries. We need to have a sustained baby-boom in order to become stronger in the long-term. Also, we are doing our best to be a good ally and help our TERRA brethren. We benefited from their assistance in restoring our country. We have also enjoyed a good working relationship with EDEN, until recently. I hope to keep the moving in the right direction moving forward.

What is the greatest threat to the unity of the eUSA?

Every military unit needs to take and follows orders directly from the Executive and the National Security Council. Any exceptions weaken the nation and spread our influence unnecessarily.

How do you plan to prepare the nation for another possible future ONE style invasion?

I worked very hard as SoD to get the USAF moving in the right direction. It has been building infrastructure since its inception and we are working toward lowering costs to increase the reserve. If we do it right, we can also increase supplies. If the main military fighting force of the US can continue to recruit, retain, and build strong officers, we will eventually be able to control our own fate without needing allied assistance all the time. Being able to control at least all the battles in our Primetime has also been a focus. A strong MPP and 2-clicker force is essential to the success of any nation.

Is there any advice you have for new players?

GET INVOLVED. If you are just sitting waiting for something to happen, you can get bored and leave the game. It is only through forging relationships with people and political parties that you find new challenges and ways to help improve the nation as a whole. Grab a friend. If each citizen grabbed just one friend, we could double our population. And don't let them twist in the wind, help them get involved and make them grab a friend. Keep it going.

Where do you see the eUSA a month from now?

It depends first on how long Spain pushes back. Secondly, it depends on how well EDEN and TERRA work together. Thirdly, it depends on if the US has a sustained baby-boom. If I had to guess, in one month, with effective cooperation between EDEN and TERRA, we will continue to help our allies strengthen by cooperating in operations against ONE.

How do you plan to increase our production of apple pie?

I answered this with the point about resources. But we can always have cherry if apple is unavailable.
