Yeah, ok Glove.
If your article wasn’t so damn good I’d have deleted it sooner.

Announcements

First off, let me say that the fact that we actually have an active Executive staff makes WHPR an easy thing to write. I can't imagine what last month must have been like for Chutley (who would have been EPIC as SoM) and CA.

The White House is holding a Live Press Conference on Saturday July 16 at 9:00PM EST/6PM PST. Join your Chief Executive in #whitehouse.public.

Also, the USAF is looking for Q5 Company owners to help supply the Military. Sign up here.

War Update from Department of Defense

It is hard to track progress in a Guerilla-style war. There is too much cat-and-mouse, too many unimportant losses and just as few truly important wins. Guerilla-style war is a slow, steady wearing down of a stronger opponent, creating and exploiting minor weaknesses which the larger enemy is slow to respond to. So to say that we are winning or losing simply because we gained or lost a particular territory or set of battles would be naïve.

But you can decide if a Guerilla-style war is effective.

It’s been 10 days since being wiped (for about an hour). Since then we have hit various times when multiple production bonuses were in effect, something that is very difficult to achieve when part of any good Guerilla strategy is to show up where you are NOT expected. But our feints, thrusts, and parries (avoiding the overtly obvious here…) have indeed earned us some increased economic production. Having conjoined territories will be more important than having more territories. In 10 days, our strategy has been relatively effective using this measure.

Meanwhile, it is helpful to our interests that Terra has been more active on our behalf during the first week of the Keating Administration. There are even rumors among high-ups that ONE leadership is wearying of the status quo. There has never been a better time to be reading International Media.

Program Update from Department of the Interior

Secretary of the Interior Lysander Spooner II was asked about the recent Economic Module changes (“change” seems like such an innocent word) and how they might affect the DoI.

There has so far not been an increase in the number of people being fed by Bewbs for Newbs and Meals on Wheels. Only the budget is currently limiting the programs. On average, a Citizen is receiving 183 Wellness from B4N and/or 198 from MoW. Both programs could distribute more wellness if budgets were increased. And all of the recent Admin changes have had the effect of increasing the need for food.

DoI staff has also been increased to keep up with demand.

Staffing Update

Chief of Staff Civil Anarchy reports that all Deputy positions have been filled and your Government is running at near-full staffing. The only area still not fully staffed is the Department of State where the Ambassador Program is being overhauled. This has notoriously been an area of poor activity amidst several stand-out “stars” doing great work. CoS is working with Secretary Paul Proteus to raise the low end of the bar in terms of activity among International Ambassadors.

The problems in the past have been three-fold, with little attention given from the Executive and Congressional branches on our end, not-always-warm welcomes from the Foreign governments on their end, and sometimes just a bad choice of a person who is not really interested in the dynamics of being a Foreign Ambassador. No other job offers a more interesting potential for meeting new online friends than the Ambassadorial role, yet few think to pursue it. If you are in this game for the Social joy of the thing, Foreign Ambassadorship is for you.

Focus on: Department of State

Secretary of State, Paul Proteus

The Department of State is the public face of our Foreign Policy. For obvious reasons, this is a job that requires a high degree of security clearance, and a golden personality. Well, meet Paul Proteus.

PP is a former CP (eSwitzerland0 and knows his way around the International scene. He’s also loaded with Party experience in eUSA and should be viewed as a future PoTUS candidate. (He’d be my first choice as VCP if ever…)

He is now charged with the worst job in ePolitics. Because so much of the work of a good Secretary of State must take place behind the scenes, SoS’s are unfairly abused for lack of activity and quietness. But PP is on the job.

He has not inherited an intact Department, though. So his term as SoS will be defined by renovation, recruitment, and creativity. Old alliances have not been well maintained. It is absurd to expect the International community to come to the defense of any nation when that nation has done little or nothing to foster good relationships through Ambassadorial Affairs.

If there is one good thing Admin changes have wrought, it is an increased emphasis on the social aspect of this game. Everything else is just meaningless clicks. But actual, real relationships with actual real gamers matter more than ever. If you are in this game for the long haul, quit complaining about Admin and get yourself involved in International Politics. Remember what Erasmus said, “In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.” (Interpretation: It won't take much for you to distinguish yourself here. Do eeet.

Assisting Paul Proteus this month is Deputy Tim Holtz, a former Australian CP and Deputy Soren Nelson, a Federalist Party Icon and former savior of eUSA. The Director of Ambassadorial Affairs is deershark who is exactly the kind of person you'd want to work under. (Do eeet).

Greece is a top priority this month. The fact of INCI’s improved relations recently with Greece bodes well for us all.

WHPR - Survey of the Populace #1

The WHPR will be releasing a series of Government Surveys intended to get to know our base of gamers. All surveys will maintain the anonymity of the respondents.

Today’s theme is the use of Multi accounts in this game. We are interested in current use, not past use. Since no personal data is being recorded, it is critical to the accuracy of our results that you answer only once and honestly.

Remember to vote for this issue of WHPR before you click this link, just in case you forget later. Here’s the link to the Survey: tinyurl.com/WHPRsurvey1
