There is Something Wrong With This Country
Adam Von Templar
I watch today as eAustralia, my country voted itself into oblivion, I can guess at the reasons why; senators click their way through the game blissfully unaware of what’s going on around them, a lack of knowledge of game mechanics or malicious intent by self important senators to break a deal the government had made.
In the end though it doesn't matter, this is just a continuation of our journey around the hamster wheel. Anyone trying to take us off it is met with fierce resistance by those that want to keep running to try and find the end.
This latest debacle can be blamed on all sides, the government for not communicating effectively, the senate for signing our death warrant. It can also be blamed on the eAustralian populace in general, for being happy to continue our current direction since v2, with no change despite the eworld radically changing around us.
A New Direction or a Slow Death
This is the reality that now confronts or has always confronted our nation, we can continue on the hamster wheel, having wars with Indo, whinging our allies never come and help us and have a country for a few months at best. All the while our population drops, our government revenues reduce and we bicker over stupid things like who controls the forum.
Or we can think outside the box and try and give our country a new direction in the future. That involves discussing some ideas that have been laughed at in the past, including by myself. Such ideas I have heard are; a union with other small countries in the region eg us all moving to another country to boost its numbers, an alliance with eIndo, ceding WA, NT, Qld to Brazil permanently to be a buffer between us and Indo etc.
All these subjects have been considered taboo or have only been mere ideas muttered in obscure threads and posts, I say it is time we rigorously pursue them in thought and action.
I will state this now that a military solution to our quarrel with Indo is very unlikely. It would require countries outside of our control and influence committing to Australia’s defence permanently. I think we need to wake up and take control of our own destiny instead of waiting and being perpetually disappointed.
We can continue the current course of action or we can try and change it, the choice is yours eAustralia.

Great article, love the hamster analogy
Thats because it was yours : D
i really think rather then fighting with our closest neighbour we should ally with them on the condition of the return of our territories. (they can keep either NT or WA as a bargining chip).
Personally I see no victory against them anyway and NZ is also allied with them. If you "allies" wont help us then maybe we should be changing allies.
i don't think your right and i'm sorry to say but i honestly think moving to another country or an alliance with indo will work.
And here is why
If we move to another country indo will head for them and then for us this is not going to help us at all.
No alliance with indo will work because indo won't keep there side of the bargian even if it is a proper alliance as soon as it's finished we will be picked off the map once again.
This is all well and good if you don't mind it but i myself want an EAus we can appreciate.
Exactly the attitude that dooms as to rinse and repeat our destruction until the end of the game. Indo had good cause to break the last peace we had with them, we are not without fault.
Let's get right down to the very basics.
No deal in the past with Indonesia has stuck and none never will.
Everytime Indonesia is bored, they attack us to liven things up.
It will happen tomorrow, It will happen in six months, it will happen in a year and so on.
What is this game based on? WAR!
Are we gonna get wiped - yep. Deal or no deal, they will invade us.
History has shown us that the fun in this game is created through war and Indonesia will always attack us.
So if we are going to get wiped, better doing it going down fighting then selling ourselves out (like we have attempted to do many times before).
You all get what you vote for.
Maybe this will finally teach you all to vote for new people instead of the same old people in government and the senate.
Each and every article i see fails to mention 1 thing and that is communication. If the senate was communicated to properly, none of this would have happened.
In eAustralia we have a culture of behind closed doors where theres only a few who know whats going on and then they assume that everyone else magically knows whats going on.
If you don't communicate the general population doesn't know whats going on. I still don't know what all this deal crap is about because no one is communicating.
It's the governments fault, not the senates.
Indos will keep attacking us because they can. We are an easy target for them and I suspect we always will be due to their greater numbers.
Take the deal.
What deal??? i saw nothing about any deal....No senators were informed of any deal with any one. I guess keeping the people that get voted into office informed would be a good start now wouldnt it????
There are so many assumptions there CH I don't know where to start, I don't call getting wiped, having a plumetting pop as fun. There are alternatives to endlessly butting your head against a brick wall.
DocterDry when was the last candidate that ran on a platform that was not to keep a belligerent attitude to Indo.
This article is not about that disc its about our long term future and lack of will in the Australian public to try and change the situation.
It appears we are content to accept repeated destruction because we are too lazy, arrogant and full of hate for indo to even consider an alternative outcome, these comment just reinforce that.
imo adam new players get bored easily fighting for freedom gives them something to enjoy and not be bored by.
"What deal??? i saw nothing about any deal....No senators were informed of any deal with any one. I guess keeping the people that get voted into office informed would be a good start now wouldnt it????"
Exactly. Theres no communication, only the inner circles are told and everyone else is magically assumed to know.
I agree AVT!
I have said we need to look for outside of the box ideas.
I have said we need to form stronger ties with smaller nations and strategies for war and for supporting an freeing other wiped nations. It can be done, we have an advantage of time zone that other small nations do not. We must realise that until a baby boom occurs in Australia we cannot win through military action anymore.
We must look at other ways to build the nation, even if it means we only have 2 or three regions. Get some financial stability for our country and work at getting people to stick around or come back to Aus.
I for one am open to lots of new ideas, i personally do not care if we try something different.
I have had several conversations with leaders of other small nations and they seem open to the possibilities of partnership.
STop blaming and start brainstorming.
Good work AVT
Cards on the table, do you stand to personally profit from this deal?
The only reason I would profit is by not having to buy gold to tank for Australia
Very well. My apologies for asking.
Im just struggling with people when facing the choice of fighting for their freedom and losing or willingly accepting subservience choosing the latter.
I appreciate younger players opinions, all view points are needed. But the way this game works it is impossible for us to liberate our regions and take on Indo, be under no illusions.
We need to look at what we know about Indo. We know that there will never be a diplomatic solution (permanently) and we also know that a Military angle will fail as well, mainly due to their extremely active MPP stack, and a population and strength that can, and has, crushed us many times in the past.
So we need to start looking at alternatives. I would be completely fine with giving eBrazil QLD, NT and WA. Or maybe just giving them WA, and seeing how we go. If need be, we then give them NT and QLD as well.
Then there are talks of mergers, which might also work, but I don't think there has ever been a ver successful one, and again, I think it is a short term solution.
In the past, any deal between Australia and Indonesia to be pass, had to be voted on by senate.
As far as I'm aware, no deal has been presented to the senate for debate and to vote on.
The cabinet has really screwed this one up!
"....it is impossible for us to liberate our regions and take on Indo, be under no illusions...."
Yet we seem to waste gold on useless MPPs all the time hoping that they will come to aid us??????
MPPs are useless, no one will come to our aid...Be under NO illusions
Every time something like this happens all i got to say is.. WTF!
New people would be good.. And if the Senate didnt know about the deal.. well then i am pretty sure they are not at fault.. The inner circles should atleast tell the senate.. Then we wont have ppl NE'ing Indonesia when they dont know what the bloody hell is going on.... And All we get is NSW and QLD? IS THAT ALL???? Last time i thought we couldve atleast got half of the country back at least... And BTW This game is nation simulation.. not WAR simulation.. Although the Wars do play a big role in the game... But its a nation game.. we have economics, governments, Militia's, War, senate, Unfortunately not Bi cameral. But there is more to the game than war.. kind of.. depends how you perceive the game.
But the problem is.. Indo! Yes they do attack us out of anywhere simply because they are bored.. and we are quite an easy target.. but if a deal is trying to go through.. you should accept that.. what would you prefer.. a quarter of a country? or no country?
Anyway enough of my babbling on about nothing... Coz frankly most of the time i get caught out because personal opinions are not allowed.. according to some politicians..
If personal opinions are allowed... WELL HERE IT IS.. And respect it like i have to do as well.. i will respect yours when you respect mine.. Any way.. Good luck Australia.. With this NE and RW we wont exist for another few weeks.. Bye eAustralia.. if it doesnt happen well woopdedo.. the community has improved a bit.. tell me when there is something going on that is not behind closed doors.. reminds me of the real life Australian government.. *murmurs* stupid japanese whaling.....
Too long xD
Completely agree ronny, MPP's are a waste, but that is exactly the alternative we are doomed to repeat because people here would rather continue with the status qou (us getting smashed) than think outside the box, to them a constant war with Indo is preferable to ever trying any alternative.
Thanks for your ideas Angie, keep them coming.
well can i just put it out there if you can willingly get a major percentage to quit the warring or give Brazil our territories go right ahead but i don't see people excepting it because i know i would rather have war and no country most of the time then to always know we will only have part of a country.
I'm sorry but this is my opinion but if you can seriously get most of aus to consider this then fine by me.
Well. A Military angle has only secured us back a Single Territory. Our last two attempts failed. Either better organised attacks (Probably everyone on at the same time hammering eIndonesia) might work. But I guess we have to accept the fact that we are too weak Military wise. I think we should escape from eIndonesia's reach, or go for sabotage and find some way of getting someone sympathetic to Australia in their Government.
Hell. We got a few plausible options if we just think outside the bloody box. I've only been playing 3/4 days and I've realised this.
Australia, Malaysia, Phillipines and India all struggling under Indonesia's colonial yoke. Surely we have enough in common to unite under a single flag and take the fight to our mutual enemy.
Even if we did, eIndonesia got enough strength to fight on ALL FRONTS. We're f**ked really.
😁😁
I well written article minus the usual attacks towards indifferent citizens we're come to expect from elitists. Usually when one talks about "moving forward" or "in our best interests" it is precipitating a political sales docket a mile wide and and inch deep. First the Executive gets the Midas coat of paint as the shining light of reason, followed almost immediately by a stern admonition for the Senate - and if that doesn't work - the citizens of our country are the next to face the chopping block.
Attention the proponents of a failed exercise: If you lose, it's because you're crud at your jobs. The proof in the pudding is if people had confidence in your abilities - they would have agreed with you.
Here endeth the lesson of "Life: Deal With It" 101.
I do have to laugh at you calling me an elitist TJ, it appears discrate hasn't schooled you too well, I have only been in cabinet twice and the senate a few times, I don't pull the strings around here clearly.
I will give you a guarantee now that I will never run for PM, as my rl job doesn't allow it.
Honestly its our own faults cause we voted for them and they are not going to do diddly s**t about things. God help us 😒
You know when we suck, when one of our highest Australian players is one of the indonesian battle hero's
AVT, this is a great article. we in ESA had the same problems and decided to think out side the box and do things differently. AUS has always been our brothers and we will assist where we can. Our numbers have to diminished and we are now finally in a position to be free from our war with Brazil and start a new chapter. changes mean everything and it takes everyone to make a change
Voting for an ANP government that fails to condemn money theft under their watch is not a better option. It never will be.
Our choices are simple:
a) Indonesia makes a gesture of good will to Australia in exchange for peace. They give us Maluku Islands in exchange for WA, SA, and Vic. This means a little pain to them to sooth a lot of our grief and righteous anger. It means we deal as potential partners instead of bitter rivals. It means Australia (and eRep) get the chance to grow instead of perpetuating our genocide and their loss of face internationally because they are too tied up in Australia to adequately support their allies.
b) Indonesia returns SA, WA, and Vic and takes Pacifica and NT instead. Argentina does not need Pacifica for grain. Indonesia do. We do not need NT for saltpeter, but we need WA for growth. Victoria's Aluminium is a loss to Indo, but such is the price of a guaranteed peace with a very belligerent neighbour and not being prepared to give up a home region but expecting it of us. This gives us rool to grow with some small countries until we are ready to return to the world stage again. Who knows, one day we could all be in the same alliance if both sides show they can behave. And what an alliance that could be if all the pacific unites.
c) We keep bumping our heads and die. Every day we get wiped we lose more players. Every day we have fewer that 2/2 NRB we shrink. Australia is gasping. Pretty soon, there will be nobody left to to entertain Indonesia. Seems great now, until you remember that some of the most epic moments have between our nations. Indonesia can either appreciate our contribution, or spend the next few agonising months perpetually caught up in RW with us because, as they already know, Australia never backs down. Genocide is fun I hear - who care if it hurts the greater game.
Start learning to treat with us or be doomed to repeat the same boring cycle. You have options, none are unreasonable.
well said majester
well said majester x2
"Voting for an ANP government that fails to condemn money theft under their watch is not a better option. It never will be."
Really? Yet,here's me as the PP condemning theft. http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/official-anp-statement-regarding-theft-accusation--1763341/1/20
Sir_c0nstant stole, not the ANP.
If only the Indonesians were smart enough to listen to Majester.
Well said Majester. x3
it has to be said im no longer eAustralian because i decided to move in this game when i moved in the real world but i still dont want you lot to be smashed again and again so youve might want to consider becoming a military state for a few months until youve gained back you home region and then get eIndos allies to help call them off because eUK is allied with eIndo and the militarys pretty hacked off with us supporting them but us recieving no support from them
Why don't consider eTaiwan as your new alliance... we aren't very strong but still have 2200, eager to seek an alliance and very eager to fight form a common defense against eIndo.
When most member of EDEN or ONE or TERRA care most about the Europe. eTaiwan is a country mainly focus on Pacific Asia.
Thanks for the insight Majester, very straight to the point with no political bs.
@Majester:
Indonesia will and only take what she needs (the latest agreement)
d) Just like with eMalaysia, eSingapore, and ePhilippines, first eIndo will conquer all of ur regions (due to the NE mechanic) then will release all of the regions that she doesnt need thru RWs (NSW and QLD). In return, eIndo wont wipe ur country out of the map as long as there'll be no NE or RWs by ur countrymen. With peace treaty and MPP proposal from u, u will get NT and Tasman. hoping the alliance between the countries is sustainable, u might even get Victoria or a rent fee for Victoria.
let the unthinkable be left out, there wont be any region swap. be under no illusion. by urself, ure not as amusing nor entertaining as u think u are. u dont have the same bargaining position nor the good relation as eArgentina-eIndonesia. considering the gap in force of eAustralia-eIndonesia, the agreement was somewhat reasonable. that would be a great achievement of both Gov and ur MoFA (scottty).
if ure expecting an equal agreement between the countries, at least u should have the basics neede😛 make babybooms. for that, at the very least u will need a country that doesnt go on and off from the map for a certain period of time.
the problem is, it wont happen if ure still dwelling on the past.
there was an eAustralian who punished the ppl in this country to make them realize their mistakes, he failed though
Honestly, is that any difficulties that prevent Australia make their baby boom... even eChina get a great firewall they can still make their own.
The voters in eAustralia have the power to change their situation.
Do not vote for the dinosaurs, because your problems stem from their pre-historic actions.
Lucky for you guys that the voters make up the majority. Don't vote for the same wigs next time, or do not vote for all those who run the forums and IRC rooms all day, because they are your problem. What they do is called 'Branch Stacking', and removing your right to democracy by telling you to vote for them.
Amen, I'm glad I left eAustralia.
