On the 5th of December some Citizens started to steal Gold from other Citizens using a security breach in the code. Because of the project complexity and because we've found out other security weak points, we've realized that it will take some time for us to fix those problems. |||So all these days we focused on the security issues. At the moment we have a stable version but we will constantly keep an eye in this area.
Because of the changes that we've made in the code, some problems/bugs may appear. We would be happy to have them reported in the Bug Reports category of the Forum, if you notice them.
We had to replace the database with the back-up from 4th of December at 5AM (GMT+2), so the actions taken after that time have been lost. No wellness points have been lost. Also, if you've lost something from your inventory/accounts, that's because the lost items were achieved after 5AM, 4th of December.
We consider that our Citizens were in Holidays during these days so we gave everybody +10 wellness points (as you know, this results in better productivity and better fighting skills).
We announce a modification within the Erepublik laws:
10th law: "The economic system is based on the market economy and all the citizens have to act according to the fair competition, demand and supply rules."
will be replaced by:
"No code scripts are allowed to be inserted in the Erepublik pages without the consent of the Admin."
If you think you have found a potential site security issue in this beta version, please inform the Admin via an email to “admin at erepublik dot com†with the subject "Security".
Also one new rule when using the forum:
"- Every citizen that posts comments or forum messages not related with the discussion, with no meaning or just to spam the discussion can receive a ban from the administrators; "
When necessary, we will start to put in jail (ban) Citizens for rude behavior or rude language, insults or posting in the forum in other languages besides English.

It's wonderful to have admins in a game that actively participate in bettering it, both at a 'social' level and a coding level.
I know that two people warned you about this hole last week, me included. It's a shame this had to happen for anyone to take notice. Glad you're fixing it all up though.

I don't know why posting in another language could be a ban reason. Maybe when interrupting, or bothering in a thread?
@HopFrogPoe, absolutely agree, the only excuse that we have here is that we've been 100% focused on server loading issues last days.
@Kuroikaze - we've kind of found funny your idea to put Dio's graphic instead of Plato's. The problem is that some other Citizens would not appreciate your creativity. Let's keep Plato where he is and respect the new 10th rule.
@Lint - posting in another language is against rules, and not respecting the rules creates problems. We don't like this rule too and we can't wait to remove it, but for the moment it's very important to have it.

Hopefully, those guilty of stealing gold were given life sentences (permanently banned)!
BTW... I understand the need for a universal language, but not sure that I agree with the rule that all forum posts must be in English. Language barriers are one very real component of international relations. This is a global community is it not? But it the erupublik gods (admins) deem it necessary -- we will abide by it.
Pushkin, thank capitalism for this monstrosity. Even this game is a spin off of their dirty market tricks.
@admin, could you explain why languages other than English have been banned from the forums? I'll admit that English is my native language and the only one that I can use to communicate efficiently, but even if the rule is in my favor, it hardly seems fair to players from other countries. If for example you had banned all languages from the forums except Italian I would be effectively banned from the forums because I don't speak Italian. Unless I missed the complete explanation someplace, I think we should get one here.
Korbin: I think I can answer that. The thing is, right now, the admins need clarity more than anything else. Remember this is a beta test, and not an actual game. We're to find general problems and explain them in a clear manner so that they can be patched up. The admins said that "they can't wait to remove that rule". I think we can assume that once we have a stable game to play, that barrier will be lifted and we can deal with the more abstract problems (like languages) with global interaction.
Also the Spaniards are saying obscene things and the admins, as far as I know, can't speak spanish.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to remain on-topic all the time.

Banning for straying off topic seems a little strict
Straying off topic is not the same as spamming, pat. I doubt the Admins will mind if a discussion goes off topic a bit, but it's useless spamming that the rule seems to target, as indicated by the "with no meaning or just to spam the discussion" bit.
Anyway, good job catching and closing the security holes, everyone! I hope whoever abused them to steal money got banned. Just one question; on my profile page I currently have some music playing... now the code is completely harmless, and it's on my personal profile page, so it's not a bad thing, but I can understand if you want to have ALL code removed, even the harmless ones. Should I remove the music from my profile page?
I think blackout should come back and fix monetary market, media and citizenship. And of course retransfer the millions of Gold that have appeared of disappeared from many accounts.
