The History of the Socialist Freedom Party

Preamble

The Socialist Freedom Party. Just what the hell is it? A simple answer would be a political party in the eUSA. A more sarcastic answer would be “A bunch of people with way too much time on their hands”. Both are correct. But I would like to add to that. I have been with the Socialist Freedom Party for most of it's existence and I think the most accurate definition would be “A political party in the eUSA, filled with people who have too much time on their hands and seek out fun ways to play with an online game in order to pass said time”.

The Socialist Freedom Party is an anomaly in the eUSA. It's members generally hold beliefs about the game that are way different then the majority of players, especially players who actually are in the government. But that is what makes it so fun. That is why I always keep coming back to it.

This odd little “6th Party”,that has endured longer then most 6th parties do, is always trying to have fun by trying something different. That is why I have decided to write a history on this scrappy little red mouse of eAmerican politics.

But why would I waste my time writing a history about it? Well because it has taken up a hell of a lot of my time. It has taken up a lot of time of several other people and to be honest I think we most of us loved every single moment of it. I don't think the same can be said of most political parties in this game. Most political parties in this game, unlike in real life, are based around not a set of principles but around getting some people elected. Not much fun is to be had in these parties. While I have not spent a large amount of time in other parties I think I can safely say that not many other parties have the spirit that the Socialist Freedom Party has.

I find this odd “spirit” is hard for me to describe. However I think this “spirit” is important in order to enjoy this game that so many of us have spent hours each day on. But since I can not describe this spirit that drives our seemingly Quixotic approach to eRepublik I figured I should show it to you. By writing down what I remember about the hours I have spent building and rebuilding the little party that occasionally could, the Socialist Freedom Party.

This history will be released article by article. I hope you find it as enjoyable to read as I did living it. Maybe you'll even learn something. Looking back, I know that I did.
