Hello again!

This is an article I've been meaning to write for a long time. Throughout my time in eRep, I've discovered a few tricks, tips, and quirks in the cracks and crevices of the game's mechanics. Some of these things aren't exactly a big deal. Some are already widely known. Others are well kept secrets. Some will change your entire eRep experience (and perhaps affect the way nations act and interact with each other).

Tips and Tricks for your Citizen



1) Get up to 308 health per day

Big deal? Not really. But for super-tanks, it can mean one more fight in a day depending on wellness math. One fight for a super-tank can mean 0.5 less gold spent on a wellness pack or 1000+ extra cheap damage per day. That can add up.

How do you do this? Eat food until you have 2 health to recover left (298 wellness used). The next food you eat will give the FULL amount or wellness. So if you use a Q5 food, you will gain 10 wellness, despite the fact that you are only supposed to recover 2 more. Simple stuff.

2) Time of Publishing

This is one of the more barely noticeable mechanic issues. When you publish an article, eRep bases the publishing time based on when you clicked "Write Article," NOT when you click "Publish." My guess is that this was implemented when eRep added the feature that prevented people from losing articles by publishing after being auto-logged out.

So. If you prepare an article, copy it, click "Write Article," paste it, and publish right away, you'll be giving your article extra life in the media module lists (top 5, recent 5, and the extended lists). Now this might be 5 extra minutes if you write quickly, but it could also be an hour or two if you are preparing a long and detailed article. Use this tip, and make your articles last longer!

3) eRep Advanced + Party List Exporter

(This is the one that will change your life)

Step 1: Get Greasemonkey for Firefox

Step 2: Download and install eRep Advanced

Step 3: Download and install the party list exporter

Step 4: BE HAPPY

4) Be a General Manager

I'm not sure how much this has been taken advantage of (and it is not a big secret), but citizens can be general managers. What does this mean? It means more than you think. Not only can a citizen own a company (and work in that company, unlike in the old days), but a citizen can own MULTIPLE COMPANIES, without using an org.

You read that right. No need to set up orgs anymore, unless you need to own more than one company of a certain type (ie Grain, Tickets, Oil, etc). Of course, you need to be in a country to purchase a company there, so Congress Members, Country Presidents, and Party Presidents will need to use orgs to set up countries not in their native country. Everyone else simply needs a moving ticket.

This will also help avoid the complicated self-donating process for goods like food or weapons. If you own a company as a GM, you can buy directly from it (off the market still, of course). If you hate donating to yourself, consider this option. 😁

Something pretty well known that applies to everyone

5) Citizens, Orgs, Companies, Newspapers, and Parties can all set "About me" messages.

This is far from a secret, but I don't think many have taken advantage of this ability for things like companies and parties.

By going to "edit profile" or "edit information" for any of the mentioned things, you can add a 300 character message to display. Companies can use this to leave notes to workers like "Remember to work at max health. Contact _______ if you need help getting food" or "Come work for my company! Every worker receives 2 free rifles at the end of each week, if you work every day." Parties could write little notes about what they stand for, list alternative contacts (other than the PP), list the Party cabinet, link to their forum, and many other things.

The possibilities are endless. I'd like to see much more creativity in using this feature.

6) Hold foreign treasuries hostage (kind of)

Discovered this one from some proposals recently by President Alexander Hamilton. He proposed peace with the UK, in return for 100G from their national account. This makes that 100G not usable for the 24 hour voting period.

A carefully timed proposal could lock up hundreds of gold when a nation is preparing to declare war or open battles. Mischief makers will enjoy this ability.

7) Donate 199,998 local currency in a 24 hour period, if you want/can.

This is another thing I discovered from Alexander Hamilton. He is a really smart commie squirrel.

Using the "Buy Constructions" option, a country can stick a Hospital or DS company in their treasury org (or anywhere), put a finished product on the market for 99,999 local currency (or whatever amount you want), and the President can propose purchasing that product. This is incredibly useful if the "Donate" proposal is already in use. Theoretically, a country could donate 199,998 local currency in 24 hours, by combining the donate and buy constructions proposals. BOOM.

8 ) Avoid the character limit of the New Citizen Message



I'm not going to give Alexander Hamilton full credit for this one, but he still gets props for implementing it in his term.

Last month when I was briefly Chief of Staff, the idea of a picture based NCM was brought to me by eHeathen. This idea was a revelation. Using pictures, we could avoid the annoying character limit in the NCM and make it actually look good at the same time. I never got to setting something up, but the awesome people in the Hamilton administration followed up and got it done. It includes special visual links to things like the DoD and WH Press Room newspapers, as well as some important forms and help articles for new citizens.
