Overproduction solutions
Plato
Dear Citizens,
It's pretty clear that the Erepublik economy has an overproduction problem. This is causing a high unemployment rate in some countries and a difficult time for many companies. We've worked on it, brainstormed with some of the Erepublik Presidents and here are the immediate solutions that we have implemente😛
1. Until today we gave 5 free food units on registration to each new Citizen. Even if this helped the Citizen survive easier it also represented a negative interference with the e-market that was affecting the companies’ profits. So starting today new Citizens will no longer receive free food on registration. A new Citizen will start with the usual 50% wellness, which will allow him to survive for 10 days. During this period, he will need some money until he finds a job so we decided to impose in each country a minimum Citizen starting fee value of 5 in local currency.
2. Also, many Citizens stated that Hospitals should not help in times of peace (at least until we implement a disease feature) but should help during the wars. So having a hospital will not give you extra wellness each day but will be very useful later, allowing soldiers that lost fights to come back faster onto the battlefield.
3. Each time you will train you will lose 1 wellness point (no matter the strength level)
4. Companies can upgrade their products to quality 4. Employees working in a Q4 company will lose 4 wellness each time they work; at the same time the offer will be more diverse than now. The cost for the upgrade is 100 gold and you will need at least 7 employees to upgrade but the importance of wellness will increase greatly with wars. (We are also working on other ways to differentiate your products than simply price and quality).
Price of Gold
After discussing the Gold payment system with the community we saw that many Citizens were concerned that it could affect the virtual economy and give an unlimited advantage to some. We analyzed this issue and the conclusion that we reached is that a limitation would be recommended, so a Citizen will be able to buy only one pack of 20 gold per week. The price will be 1 Euro = 2 Gold.
We believe that a good implementation of the gold payment system will help the economy and bring the correct amount of additional gold into the New World.
Keep in mind that this solution is an intermediate one and has 3 big benefits:
1. We can test a payment system and its impact to the game before the launch of V1 and fine tune it further.;
2. It will create a revenue system that will start helping us cover some of the expenses and allow us to progress faster. (Donations are not a valid option and neither is advertising at this stage, merchandising we will be doing later and we don’t think premium accounts are a better solution for the game).
3. With the 20 gold per week limit, newcomers with deeper pockets can’t just buy their way to Erepublik economical success or destroy the economy since gold keeps being a limited and precious resource. (Additionally, for V1 we are working on experience based limits)
First marriage in Erepublik
We are happy to announce that a new and original event took place in The New World. [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/profile-5079.html]Cristesco[/a] the President of Romania, married (e-married) [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/profile-13025.html]elena.coman[/a] . [a url=http://www.erepublik.com/article-141831.html]Here[/a] is a complete coverage of the event.
We want to take this opportunity to thank you again for all your feedback, we are trying to create something that didn’t exist before and it is not an easy task. We know that by not doing exactly what some would like us to do or by not copying what already exists we are taking a big risk. But it is impossible to please everyone in the short term and at the same time build something for the long term that can stand the test of time and be truly unique.
And by the way: we implemented the voting system for the newspaper articles. This will help the community find easier the best articles. We are expecting your feedback on this subject.

Yes you will.
1 euro fof 2 gold is too expensive.
for*
The article rating system seems a great idea, and the limitations on gold seem to be good also. An e-marriage though....
How will this help overproduction?
i like how gold is expensive so that it shouldnt effect the economy too much. The e-marriage was funny 😛
Check out my dating agency if you want to get married too!
GnolTac: It will prompt people to buy more food and gifts. What do you think?
>>> \'...at least until we implement a disease feature\', now that\'s interesting.
What if we consume 2 units of food/day,this will make the wellnes to grow faster and the food will become more important.
Sounds like you\'ve broken the Hospital industry to me. >_> But I like the rest, I think.
like the rating system on articles. Btw, will you get anything for this, like points or something? Also the marriage is a great idea. Like what youve done but will you get any benefits when you marry someone, like shared economy and house and stuff. Probably not yet but maybe soon. Also how do you mary someone?
The gold thing is better now but i still think some of PHuSion9\'s suggestions were better. I don\'t think 1 euro 2 gold is too expansive because it shouldnt be too easy getting gold. But i think 20 gold a week is to much. It\'s good its on beta still though.
Good with Q4 and the disease thingy.
some system of \"more view in the day (or week)\" could be nice
Each time you will train you will lose 1 wellness point (no matter the strength level).
So
-1 for working
-1 for training
= always -2 each day
=> Q1 useless...?
Danny: People won\'t eat more every day, so buying more food will just fill their inventory.
So
-1 for working
-1 for training
= always -2 each day
=> Q1 useless...?
There goes my business...
If you want to read this in Spanish, check http://www.erepublik.com/article-149271.html
By the way, I would like to know more about diseases. Are you planning to introduce also natural disasters? Floods, volcanos, earthquakes...
quick question to the admins, when you implement erepublik V1 what will happen to the Beta version?
maybe this was discussed but i probably missed it.
The President of the country should be able to buy surplus food to feed the soldiers.
So in essence, you have completely destroyed the usefulness of the Hospital industry until later on. Yay for us who have invested so much into it. The rest looks okay, but this seriously is rough.
When will you fix the image uploading bug for parties, companies and newspapers?
We will become V1... And btw Q4 is bugged, still right? So why announce it, now?
Natural disasters would be fun as well, and natural resources...
I guess we can deal with limited buy of gold,
You should think of a ticket system for your inbox, like:
http://eticket.sourceforge.net/
http://www.kayako.com/
http://www.osticket.com/
Because sometimes we get the felling you just lost the message, or it got deleted by the 30 max messages... Or that we have to post it on the forum and bump it...
We are in a beta version we are supposed to aid you and theres not a good communication between we and you. And this will only get worst with more people.
@josephsalute \"until later\" is not far away so every region will still want to get an hospital asap and they will be very useful @finaldestiny q1 food is still useful and you will still get demand for it. (company owners don\'t loose wellness for working and some citizens don´t always train, they might also receive a gift or have a house etc.)
I can sell my gold for real euros! Only 0.25e for 1 GOLD!
With the way things are looking right now, I don\'t think we can expect much warring. I might as well join the USA DoD right away and start false claims of all neighboring countries having intent to destroy us, for otherwise I can\'t see FAQS Hospitals having much use.
@Ape exactly that is going to be one of their new major problems, to add to the big list...
I can\'t agree with Hospitals just not helping unless a time of War. It would be much smarter and logical to give a reduced bonus. Like, giving half their quality in wellness.
Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!
eRepulbik is the new WoW of gold farming.
Have fun
whaaaaaaaaat, I just bought a hospital company 3 days ago!!!! Now it\'s technically useless since war is to far away and we already have 4 hospital comps in our country.
$1 for 2 Gold is better. USD($) Is probably the most known currenct, and conversion rates are nice. For example £1 will buy me 4 gold.
It is expensive. But then again there are alternatives! Try the adverts, its nothing major. Sign up to adsense now, put in some ads here and there. Wait one week, how much money did you make? not alot, fine, go ahead with money-for-gold. If you made some, then trial it again. If you made alot stick to it!
They really wan\'t us to fight each other. Having a weaponindustry producing weapons that can only disintergate in wartime already leads to conclusions that war is needed and now hospitals only work i wartimes.
That means that two of five industries collapse without the prospect of future war.
I have to say that they that their \"sulutions\" to the overproduction-problem only treates the effects, not the cause. An unbalanced productivity-function is the cause and seeing this is a beta they might wan\'t play around (that is test how things change when numbers are thrown around) some more.
@Nelsaidi, the USD has a value that is constantly dropping in relation to european currencies. While the Euro has a fairly constant and strong value.
hmmm so we have a problem of unemployment so the solution would be to render anotehr industry useless so it also starts firing people so more unemployment so that more people die since they give up the game after they figure they cant get a job...
I forsee death rates exceeding new gamers coming in.....
Good effort with the news voting system, could have also added a negative vote so that people could give minus votes if an article was really a waste of time.... but this is much better than before...
Can we please have an article soon about bugs fixed? I really think the community can use a boost of confidence in that area.....
First marriage in Erepublik
SLQH s happy to announce that cover (with the permission of the bride and groom) event in Spain for the entire Latin American world!!!
i have not read overproduction solutions for companies!
it is tha main title.
why this argument is not clearly explained for all kind companies?
Suppose we have to live with the gold part. Hope not to many leaves. For the rest I thnk its great news. New stuff to get used to. Thanks. 😁
I\'ll write in more detail on this as soon as I get the time - but just to quickly explain a little about the logic behind the -1 wellness for training:
At the moment there are too many things in Erepublik that INCREASE wellness and not enough that DECREASE wellness. 4 out of the 6 commodities are wellness increasing so this is a big problem. Consequently many citizens have 100 wellness and are able to stay at that level just by eating Q1 food.
The housing industry in particular has suffered from this oversupply of wellness - look at what\'s happening in Sweden for example where you have houses selling for nearly the same price as a moving ticket!!
So it\'s not really an \'overproduction\' issue that is being addresssed but rather a low demand that is the problem being corrected. Now that people have more things lowering wellness they will be more interested in buying things that increase wellness such as higher Q food and houses.
A simple change for hospitals that I would go for would be too make hospitals only increase your wellness up to a certain percentage. E.g 50% or thereabouts. So they will be especially useful during war time but also have a use during peactime.
Paying real money for gold is perfectly fine as long as there are the right safeguards in my opinion. Tevin solutions is not a charity.
I\'ve got other ideas in mind but I don\'t what to present them half-baked
you have to admit.. they need to make a living lol.
Furthermore - these changes will indirectly reduce production. Productivity is a funtion of (amongst other things) wellness, so the less wellness people have the less they will produce and therefore the less prices should keep dropping.
Prices in most economies have been plunging dramatically - just see the latest article in my newspaper for proof (see the RER change bit): http://www.erepublik.com/article-140751.html
Ill show you PROPERLY my idea tomorrow
We need the following:
1. Soldier training drop is proportional to the level you are at.
2. More industries to that don\'t increase wellness.
3. Soldier heatlh in wars will be directly related to your wellness.
4. Like Kaleb stated, hospitals stop providing a benifit at a certain point.
5. A removal of max inventory.
6. Moving removes your house, even if it is to different regions.
We also need to be able to change the logo for our party. It\'s currently bugged and I\'m stuck with the ugliest POS you\'ve ever seen.
@Jazar: What about the company owners?
@Kaleb: Yes yes.. we\'ve all heard the \"wellness is too easy to maintain\" speeches before 😛
@Aggieman:
1: Maybe... but then if you work in Q4 and have 5.00+ strength, you lose 9 a day, which you would need Q3 food, a Q3 house, and a Q3 Hospital just to break even (or some Q4s in there too), and that\'s not even counting if you\'re in a war.
2: I agree
3: Isn\'t it already?
4: True, but they still provide a benefit for the newer citizens, which is why they ARE helpful.
5: Obviously
6: Interesting... this definitely would help the moving community.
@Gohen:
1: That means that your economy is not suitable to your population.
2: I agree that getting rid of hospitals are a bad idea, but that I\'m sure that company owners will survive for one week of effect-less hospitals.
3: As I said earlier in this comment, what about the company owners? We need Q1 foods.
Pop quiz: who said this?
\"First of all please note that with the growth of the population making gold will become incrasingly easier (actually one of our worries is that it may become to easy).\"
owned.
@Benn Dover: aswell as house owners, but in the small countries they are a huge minority. Besides, there is a bug (or it\'s no bug) that allows company owners to work as well. And next to that, you\'re allowed to create a GM account...
I just don\'t feel it will help a lot (no, the contrary).
@Aggie \"1. Soldier training drop is proportional to the level you are at.\"
This is still an option that\'s been discussed, but lets see how the current changes work first.
@Benn - yes, but persistent speeches are what bring about changes 😉
@Jazar - if that\'s the case then actually small countries will have a higher demand for Q2+ food and houses. Count yourselves lucky you don\'t have oversupply then as that\'s the main problem bigger, more developed economies have.
\"And next to that, you\'re allowed to create a GM account...\" No actually you\'re not allowed to. And even if you were what are these \'GM accounts\' going to eat?
@Jazar: If your economy is worked out right, no matter how large your population, you can benefit from a larger demand of Q2 food. I don\'t use the US often as an example, but this favors us greatly. Our food market generally revolves around Q2, because we have an abundance and several companies. Because of the new loss in wellness, those Q2 companies\' stock will finally decrease (poor Platonic..).
The same can happen for smaller countries.
It\'s day 122, a poor economy is practically inexcusable at this point. I hope you aren\'t speaking from a personal standpoint, because Netherlands has a good economy (it could be worse at least). You should buy my weapons =}
