Economic League Table Mar 17th

Day 117, 17:54 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Kaleb

I was going to write this on Friday but real life events kept me slightly preoccupied (UK citizens will know what I'm referring to! 😃 )

So here is the slightly delayed weekly economic report. %age changes are from the 29th of Feb so people can see how the current governments are handling their economies since (re)election! Am keeping track of the top 18 countries now (Canada, Italy and Ireland added). But for per/capita per/worker stats I will only use the top 10 by workforce. There is also some abiguity between the unemlpyment rate and the 'employees' figure on the national economy pages so my figure is workforce = population x (1-unemployment rate).

POPULATION
1 Sweden 2612 (-)
2 Indonesia 1229 (-)
3 Norway 1110 (-)
4 Spain 865 (-)

11 Norway -17.3%
12 USA -19.1%
13 Venezuela -23.5%
14 Turkey -23.5%
15 Brazil -48.3%

Comment: The populations in all countries are dropping, some by massive numbers. In my view the lack of an easy-to-use guide is hindering people from properly engaging in a game that has hidden depths but is not that easy to get into. Perhaps new community-led sites will help fill this gap?

WORKFORCE
1 Sweden 1262 (-)
2 Indonesia 770 (-)
3 Norway 697 (-)
4 Spain 539 (-)
5 Pakistan 451 (-)
6 Iran 360 (+1)
7 UK 348 (+1)
8 Portugal 322 (-2)

14 Italy 145 (NE)
15 Canada 143 (NE)
16 Brazil 129 (-1)
17 Venezuela 128 (-4)
18 Ireland 96 (NE)

Comment: When you look at the workforce figures Sweden isn't quite as big a behemoth as it seems...

WORKFORCE CHANGE
1 Pakistan 8.4%
2 UK 5.9%
3 Spain -1.4%
4 Indonesia -4.3%
5 Romania -10.7%
6 Norway -11.9%
7 France -12.9%
8 Iran -13.2%
9 Sweden -13.3%
10 USA -16.5%
11 Turkey -17.0%
12 Venezuela -17.2%
13 Portugal -18.6%
14 Brazil -20.9%
15 Netherlands -21.1%

Comment: Pakistan and the UK are the only 2 countries with a growing workforce. Could the 4chan be seeing a resurgence now that the war mod is nearing?

GDP
1 Sweden 8384.33 (-)
2 Spain 4212.8 (-)
3 Norway 3626.95 (-)
4 Indonesia 3300.57 (-)
5 UK 2634.96 (+1)
6 Portugal 2230.69 (-1)
7 Iran 2007.57 (+2)
8 Romania 1746.58 (-1)
9 USA 1503.73 (+2)
10 Pakistan 1494.09 (-2)

15 Venezuela 848.95 (-1)
16 Canada 792.15 (NE)
17 Netherlands 603.25 (-2)
18 Ireland 584.7 (NE)

Comment: the UK has overtaken Portugal in GDP now and enters the top 5 economies for the first time.

GDP GROWTH
1 Iran 50.2%
2 USA 15.7%
3 UK 9.5%
4 France 5.8%
5 Netherlands 5.2%
6 Spain 4.7%
7 Venezuela 2.1%
8 Romania -4.5%
9 Turkey -9.2%
10 Norway -14.6%
11 Indonesia -18.4%
12 Portugal -18.5%
13 Pakistan -20.2%
14 Sweden -21.8%
15 Brazil -31.7%

Comment: Iran has by far the largest GDP Growth rate. No surprise really when you consider the size of the economy a month ago and the fact that they have had nearly 1600G worth of investment in their economy in the last 30 days. But will this growth be sustainable? For long-standing economies thought the prize goes to the USA. Perhaps the new US government's economic policies are paying off despite the controversy around them. Amongst the large economies the prize goes to the UK with nearly 10% growth in two weeks.

RER
1 Ireland 9.65
2 Spain 12.2
3 Sweden 12.23
4 Indonesia 15.11
5 UK 16.67
6 Norway 23.35
7 Romania 29.03
8 USA 29.26
9 Iran 30.89
10 Netherlands 34.82
11 France 36
12 Canada 36.37
13 Portugal 39.06
14 Turkey 43.83
15 Pakistan 46.34
16 Italy 46.46
17 Brazil 49.33
18 Venezuela 58.97

Comment: Ireland shows itself as having the lowest average prices in Erepublik and Spain overtakes Sweden as having the lowest average prices.

RER CHANGE (Inflation/Deflation)
1 Sweden 18.5%
2 Indonesia 11.2%
3 Portugal 7.3%
4 UK 4.0%
5 Norway -1.3%
6 Pakistan -1.9%
7 France -3.9%
8 Netherlands -5.2%
9 Spain -7.6%
10 Brazil -9.5%
11 Iran -10.9%
12 Turkey -14.4%
13 Romania -15.1%
14 USA -19.6%
15 Venezuela -19.9%

Comment: The recent devaluation of SEK in recent weeks (the government sold money significantly below the market rate) has shown itself in the RER of SEK. Prices are most stable in the UK, Norway, Pakistan and France.

GDP/Capita
1 UK 4.94 (+1)
2 Spain 4.87 (-1)
3 Iran 3.96 (+1)
4 Romania 3.58 (-1)
5 Portugal 3.45 (-)
6 Norway 3.27 (+1)
7 Sweden 3.21 (-1)
8 USA 2.77 (+2)
9 Indonesia 2.69 (-1)
10 Pakistan 2.46 (-1)

Comment: The UK retakes it's position as number 1 in terms of per/capita wealth creation. The USA rises from the bottom to be replaced by Pakistan. But perhaps 4chaners don't care about their economy as long as they can go and conquer someone else's...?

GDP/WORKER
1 Spain 7.82 (-)
2 UK 7.57 (-)
3 Portugal 6.93 (+1)
4 Sweden 6.64 (+1)
5 Romania 6.35 (-2)
6 USA 5.83 (+2)
7 Iran 5.58 (-)
8 Norway 5.2 (-2)
9 Indonesia 4.29 (-)
10 Pakistan 3.31 (-)

Comment: It terms of wealth creation per worker Spain actually comes out on top of the UK and Iran actually comes 7th instead of 3rd. Indonesia and Pakistan are still bottom though.

GDP/WORKER CHANGE
1 Iran 73.1%
2 USA 38.6%
3 Romania 7.0%
4 Spain 6.1%
5 UK 3.3%
6 Portugal 0.1%
7 Norway -3.2%
8 Sweden -9.9%
9 Indonesia -14.7%
10 Pakistan -26.4%

Comment: Here Romania shows itself to be doing rather well as does Spain. Sweden's wealth per worker has dropped nearly 10% in the last 2 weeks.
