Hi there,

I’d like to announce in this article that I will be running for congress in Free State for the Independent Alternative party. Some of you may know that I’ve been to a few other countries over the last two years of playing. Since I left eIsrael I have travelled to many other countries, some of which were nice, others not so nice. But I have never really found somewhere I want to be my home forever. However South Africa is different. As soon as I arrived I realised that despite its citizens of many RL backgrounds it shares a togetherness that other countries lack. People are aware of the threat of Indonesia and Brazil and it brings them together as a group to work together.

The eSouth African community is more vibrant and welcoming than anywhere else I have been. It has such potential, and so many good players. I won’t pretend I agree with everyone here on every issue, but even people I disagree with I respect for their views. We have something here which makes me want to stay, to contribute and to help however I can. I know how it feels to live in a small country with neighbours constantly invading! When I was born my home country was completely occupied and I ended up running for congress in the occupying country which was strange. I have lots of experience which I think would be an asset to South Africa, and I want to help South Africa however I can.

I’m standing with the Independent Alternative for two reasons. One is that I agree with their position that politics should be completely honest. I have my own core beliefs and I will always be honest about them. I don’t believe in framing what I believe to disguise the true meaning. If you read my previous articles you’ll see that whilst some people agree with me a lot disagree too! But I’m always candid about my beliefs and I think that’s the best thing a politician can promise. Other candidates promise to do specific policies. In my experience a lot of what happens in a congress term in unpredictable and congress people just have to act. For me I think its most important you know how I’d act, and in this case it’s with honesty and openness to public opinion.

Secondly I support their platform of supporting and nurturing new players. With hospital changes and the new anti-cheating laws player retention is tougher than ever. If we want SA to grow into a superpower we need the population to man our (soon-to-be) titanium mines, we need soldiers to guard our borders. Those miners and soldiers are just babies now but with a strong player retention policy we can make sure they grow to become the future of our country. How to do this? We need firstly to keep in touch with new players, give them advice on how to stay healthy. Secondly we need to encourage them to partake in our community outside of the game. Thirdly we need to offer them help with food, or even a reputable third-party housing dealer. I am proud that the Independent Alternative supports young players, and you know that whatever situations arise I will always consider the most vulnerable players when making decisions.

One of the most important issues for many people is Military & Foreign Affairs. I am not a tactician, but I will support the military in congress. I support extending asset-based funding, in other words investing in companies to supply our military war effort. The Independent Alternative supports an independent military with the President as Commander-In-Chief. This model has been tried many times in other countries with quite high success. We also support our military through the Marines Tanking Fund, which we encourage people to donate their spare gold to.

In terms of Foreign Affairs South Africa is in the unique position of being the only country in Africa. This limits the number of borders we have to over-seas nations such as Brazil, Argentina and Australia. Recently South Africa has been engaged in a number of conflicts with South American powers Brazil and Argentina. It is inevitable that they will try again in future to take our regions. I support the complete sovereignty of South Africa, and respect the right of our friends to maintain their borders. For this reason it is important that we maintain our friendships with those countries that have helped us on the path to liberation, and also help other friends who find themselves threatened by the same enemies.

Open discussion is the basis of a strong country. As your congressperson it would be my job to represent you. I will be available every day on IRC to discuss any issues which may have arisen that you want me to bring to the government. I will also be available to answer questions via PM. I will report my voting record as well, so that I can be held to account by the voters for my decisions. If people strongly oppose an issue I will bring it to the President and argue your case as best as I can. If I feel it is an issue in which the President is in the wrong I won’t hesitate to vote down motions, however I think that a strong compromise solution should be the goal of any congress debate.

As a party of independents my party welcome all views. So whatever your views are we’re willing to listen and debate. This kind of environment means that our congress people aren’t rigidly fixed to one doctrine or another; our policies are simple and focused on supporting new players and developing a welcoming community. As your congressperson I would represent you just as strongly regardless of your own beliefs, background or party. When you go to vote on the 25th of May, please consider voting for me. I promise to be your congresswoman first and foremost, before all other considerations.

I would also really appreciate it if you could help Amun Nefer get into congress in Free State as we would like to be congress people together. Here is his platform: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/vote-for-amun-in-free-state-south-africa--1380778/1/20 . Thanks! 🙂

Best wishes,
