Darlo for DWPPP

Day 876, 17:05 Published in Japan Japan by darlosworld

Good evening (or morning or afternoon depending on what time you read this).

I'm Darlo('s World) and I would like to announce my formal decision to run for president of the DWP. Up until recently I had supported another candidate to run, however upon seeing both their manifesto and unnecessary words on the forum I decided to withdraw that support.

For reasons that are hard to explain (along with a self-confessed bone idleness) I don't really want to leave my party. But at the same time, I do not wish for this party to become a party of distruss, hatred and negativity. I would like to see it maintain an aspect of maturity, openness, and above all welcoming friendliness.

As I have mentioned on the forum, I do understand that the name DWP has negative connotations within eJapan and I do believe that going in a slanderous direction will not help that at all. I also understand that any changes we make will obviously be met with scepticism, and to be fair, I too would be sceptic about such a change (those in RL UK will know about the election campaigns going on, lol).

I'm going to admit one thing that does irritate me a bit about the party, and in doing so will probably shoot me in the foot.

'Desu' is irritating.

It's irritating because it is the one word people who have learned just one or two things about Japanese think they can just whack it on the end of any sentance, even in English. It's irritating because of the way it's over-used and often those over-using it don't really get it's meaning; imagine, for example, at the end of every sentence talking to someone they said the word "prawn", annoying eh.

Therefore, if elected as president I will first and foremost try to do two things. First of all I will change the name of the party from Desu Workers Party, to Democratic Workers Party. This way we retain our DWP initials, but it also symbolises we are open to ideas of others and other parties, as well as letting all members give their input. I will also change the logo to one that would suit the name of the party, though I would consult party members on what they would like to represent us. I think that Suiseiseki has run her course.

In comparision to many other eRepublik players I am still relatively new, so I do not know the ins and outs of what a party president can and cannot do. This I will admit. But I am willing to learn what's on the other side.

As much as I would like to see congressmen and women from our party (likewise a country president would be an achievement), I do understand that those goals are a bit of a stretch (especially the latter). I believe that the previous system of working with other parties that have similar opinions to put forward a candidate does work, and if possible would like to continue this method. Likewise if a presidential candidate from another party has the same goals and ideals as us, then I would much rather put our party behind them than try to field an unsuccessful rival.

As I said, my main goal is to re-establish this party as a respectable party of mature members. Yes, I support debating, discussions and arguements, but I do not support nor condone childish bickering. Nor will I choose to be a member of such a party, and I hope you feel the same way.

Thank you for your time
