The war goes on

Day 853, 07:17 Published in Australia Australia by Aeros
SUMMARY

With the introduction of the new economic module in V2, Australia and South Africa just became a whole lot more important, accounting for almost half of all the world’s known titanium resources. To that end, EDEN forces have been fighting fiercely against Phoenix troops in resistance wars throughout South Africa, as well as in Central Europe and Southern Asia.

CROATIA

Croatia is the most powerful nation in EDEN’s arsenal for one simple reason. It is the only EDEN country with activated MPP’s against both Serbia and Hungary. If Croatia was ever introduced into the Asian sector, that would be the end of Phoenixes control of Liaoning and Heilongjiang. Combined with the US MPP’s activated against Russia and Indonesia, Phoenix would face a total loss of its holdings in China. With this in mind, EDEN attempted to get Croatia onto the Polish/Spanish land bridge. If this move had been successful, the Croatians could have been swapped from Europe all the way across the United States to China.

Unfortunately, the plan was never able to come to fruition. Croatia did have an agreement with the Austrian president at the time of its creation. Unfortunately, this President was voted out of office before the swaps could take place and the new President refused to cooperate. Croatia declared war anyhow, and managed to reach the Polish border which was extended through the Czech Republic. Hungary counter attacked and was able to hold the Croats in place, preventing the swap to Poland and ultimately allowing for an Austrian counterattack. Thwarted in Austria, Croatia again tried to drive through Slovenia. Unfortunately this attack was marked with poor communication with the rest of EDEN. In a furious exchange, the Croatians accused the American military of incompetence due to their orders to participate in a “training war” while at the same time their land bridge was on the verge of defeat in Slovenia. As a result, Croatia was unable to secure its goal of getting to Asia.

INDONESIA

Indonesia has once again failed to breach through the EDEN blockade in the Philippines and Southern Thailand. Their actions at this point more towards the goal of starting distraction battles then actually mounting major efforts against the United States. The only major point of note here is the Australian attack on Indonesian home territory a few days ago. Many expressed concern about the move, though there are some tangible benefits to the strategy of goading the Indonesians into attacking Australia proper. I won’t go too far into them here, but suffice to say the Indonesians apparently agree that their was a method to Cerbs madness and have declined to attack Australia even with their newly activated MPP’s.

AUSTRALIA

The Great Southern War rages on, with Kwazulu Natal once again exchanging hands. This time, Argentina declined virtually all resistance, in favor of defending against determined EDEN resistance wars in the Western Cape and Limpopo. With the help of significant Phoenix support, both these regions were secured by Argentine forces. Had EDEN won, Argentina would have been walled off from South Africa and their critical enclave in the High resource region of Limpopo would have been lost even before Australia attacked. Unfortunately, these efforts failed and Australia is also having to deal with yet another Brazilian counterattack. Right now, much could be said for letting the Brazilians win again. Kwazulu Natal is a mouse trap that allows Brazil and Argentina to trade attacks against it and potentially keep Australia locked down, provided the two enemy Presidents remain quick on their skills at refreshing the war page and beat the Prime Minister to the attack button. Conversely, if Australia wins the battle, Brazil will be unable to participate for 24 hours, allowing us to continue the effort against Argentina, while at the same time restarting the resistance wars, something that could happen regardless of the outcome of Kwazulu Natal anyhow.

FINAL ANALYSIS

The goal of EDEN forces in South Africa at this point seems to be to keep the pressure on Argentina. Argentina is the weakest link in the occupation of that territory, and removing them first via a combination of attacks and resistance wars will make Brazils position much more uncertain. Throughout the rest of the world, EDEN is assessing its options. Its clear the US has all but given up on 1 v 1 fights against Hungary and Serbia and is attempting to avoid them like the plague. With that in mind, getting Croatia to Asia will most likely remain a paramount goal for EDEN, and a similar goal of preventing for Phoenix. In the South African theater, we can expect Australia to be trading blows with Brazil and Argentina for some time to come as all three fight for some form of position of strength. Right now, Argentina and Brazil hold a much more potent defensive posture by the very nature of having two countries holding control of one. This has been used very successfully by Spain and Poland, and will prove to be a tough nut to crack.

Also, for what its worth I’ll be running for Congress in Western Australia under the Australian Independents Party.
