Its A Long Way To The Top, If You Wanna Rock & Roll

My apologies to fellow Citizens & readers for my long absence from eIndia & media. My real life film project is now taking up a bulk of my time & I hope to contribute in the same manner as before & more in a few weeks time. This article is based on some observations over the past few months actually. I hope it makes sense, rather knocks some sense in people. If it doesn't, well here and now I can state, if we don't act NOW, soon we'll be losing eIndia & all our efforts to this day will have been in vain. Here goes:

> What's the objective of eRepublik?
> How does eIndia wish to accomplish it?
> So what are our challenges?
> What does it mean for you & me?

What's the objective of eRepublik?

In my not-so-humble opinion, its to take your nation, your community to the top & to have fun while doing so. It means:
~ building up the community, so that new Citizens are promptly taken care of & older players have some job or the other, and don't get bored out of their skins;
~ having a coordinated strong military, that can do shit loads of damage & knock out any wall;
~ solid relations with other nations, allies, friends who can come to our aid (in our opinion, irrespective of whether one is/isn't in an alliance);
~ stable economy & strong currency.

How does eIndia wish to accomplish it?

Well we have our Internal Affairs India, which takes care of newbies, with coordinated effort by the Mentors team (experienced Citizens, willing to guide newbies in the how to & what to of eRepublik). Our military, Indian Armed Forces is built by the Ministry of Defense, and is structured into battalions, Ladakh Scouts (my battalion, yeay!), Gorkha Rifles, & Brigade of the Guards. Our foreign affairs is handled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, supported by a team of Ambassadors as well as by experienced Citizens who act as Presidential Advisory. Of course all this is coordinated by the elected President & overseen (& in cases directly supported) by Congress. Congressmen have some specific responsibilities as well which include discussing proposals in forums for 24 hours before putting up in game, donating the gold earned from winning the seat to Indian Government Bank, clearing Citizenship based on instructions from National Police Force/President or his Advisors. The Ministry of Finance takes care of the economy & Government's finances.

We've also been under threat of Political Take Over by a set of Iranians, using multi a/c's & to prevent that we have the Anti-Take Over unit working on organizing Congressmen & votes in order to make a coordinated counter-attack. This DOES make the process mostly undemocratic (though parties have internal mechanisms to give chance to as many new and interested players as possible), but a necessary mechanism in order to secure our nation.

All this is also supported by the Supreme Court of India, as well as the Financial Committee of India, both advisory bodies to the monthly administrations. There are other peripheral but vital ministries as well, such as Media & Culture, Entertainment etc.

So what are our challenges?

To put it simply, active population. Firstly, our total population barring dead, banned & multi a/c's is around the 200 mark ONLY. On top of that about 90% of it are, for want of a better term, uninvolved. As I stated above we have a whole lot of 'Ministries', a whole lot of 'jobs' that WILL, IF EXECUTED, ensure that we move towards the top. But we don't have people who are willing to do their bit in order to actualize this goal. We hear plans, manifesto's, promises and such, but end of the day when it comes to getting one's hands dirty we're like uptight schoolgirls (forgive the analogy).

We're more interested with prettying up our profiles with medals & carrying decorative titles, but when the shit hits the fan, when it comes to getting the job done, its the same over-abused minority doing the dirty work ~ spending hours on end messaging Citizens, updating online docs, calculating and negotiating with others to ensure maximum benefit for eIndia, etc.

I digress a bit, but I've been around in the game since March 2009, and active (& involved) since June. At that time shail.back, kansarasumit, David Forde & Arya Bhatt were my guru's & all I know is mostly from my interactions with them. They had taken up this entire burden upon themselves & were labeled dictators even as they with the aid of a handful ensured eIndia's survival in spite of challenging odds. What this led to however was a burn-out syndrome of sorts. While the effort to work for India still blazes in them (& I am sure will never die out), I know it takes a huge toll on them. It essentially takes away the one reason we're here in eRepublik: to have fun.

I can see now that its coming down to the same thing today. A few new players HAVE come up, and it makes me immensely happy to see guys like Abhi, Vivekanand, Tofuu, Aman, Alexander & others who are genuinely keen on working for the community. However I still see that aspect of the 'responsibility' falling on a handful, & these guys buckling under pressure, eventually losing out on the 'fun' of the game.When play becomes work, there's some serious shit going wrong!

What does it mean for you & me?

It means, move your damn asses, people! This is eIndia, where respect is the key-word. We're here to take eIndia to the top. And.... ITS A LONG WAY TO THE TOP, IF YOU WANNA ROCK & ROLL! If you really wanna have fun, to take on the biggest & the baddest, to have a military we can send as support to any ally whenever they need us, irrespective of whether we ourselves are under threat or not, to have a ultra-strong economy (we incidentally have all three high resources covered if we can take back all our original regions, which are only under USA & China cos of our embarrassingly low population!), etc etc, we ALL got to pitch in and do our bit.

~ When the work gets divided (& trust me there's shit loads to do), its FUN for everybody & the 'responsibility' does not fall on a handful.
~ Makes life easier for the handful in charge to concentrate on the essentials & take more prompt & informed decisions,
~ Arguments about transparency & petty debates over why this & that aren't happening don't arise.
~ Those in charge, don't go over the break-point where they start to take any and every criticism as a personal attack (ya'll know whet I'm talking about I hope; if not read up current news)
~ You'll get more cooler titles & look more pretty as then we can speed-up work towards taking care of new Citizens, having a population reflecting our ridiculously high real life population, & hence take more daring steps without having to worry about being wiped out and all that jazz.

So stop sitting pretty as school-girls & get moving India. For more details on the Ministries, the Anti-Take-Over effort, & how you can do your bit, check the Forums, talk to current President Ashwamedh, ex-President shail.back, Minister in many capacities, Abhi347. Buzz me if you feel shy. 0.o

You needn't carry titles and tags if you don't want them. Just try to attend a few meetings on the IRC, interact with your fellow Citizens, pitch in with new ideas, learn the game from the pros, etc. Think you can do that?

Well you better do it, if you want eIndia at the TOP!

Note: To those who are losing their cool, whichever side of whichever debate, chill, have a beer (non-toxicated if you ain't old enough!) & enjoy your time here. Don't you guys have enough shit in real life, to actually choose to argue over a game??
Cheers as always & don't mind the language! Rant over.
