Call Me Aldous
Aldous Zamiatin
My flat country. That's how Jacques Brel called Flanders, and it is rather flat in real life, but in eRepublik it is also flat in terms of low and mostly inactive population, as well as of it's strugling economy. The upside to this flatness is that it leaves space for growth, and since going lower would be practically impossible, our only way is up. After living abroad for about a month (almost half of my eLife) I finally came back to Flanders, the region I was born to in this game, and still keeping the tyranny of The Group in the back of my mind, looking around fills me with new optimism - an independence regained, and a promise of free elections.
To take active part in the rebuilding of our country and to help the true eBelgians become a majority in our government, I would like to run for Congress in Flanders for the National Democratic Front. Being a rather young citizen I don't have much experience in national politics, although I have kept my eyes and my ears open, and I have learned a lot since my first two clicks in this game. Being the commissioner for Health and Social Service for the BRP I've seen the difficulties young players have starting this game and in my function I've put quite some effort into making this game more attractive for them and into helping build a community, with modest successes. I strongly believe that new players are the future of this nation and no energy or cost should be spared to help them survive the first dull days in eRepublik and to help them find their way around here.
My views on the future of eBelgium may seem a bit idealistic to some, but in my vision this country should rest firmly on three pillars - independence (so I'm not a supporter of a union with eUNl, although I do support close and friendly relations with that country), democracy (where the government is a mirror of it's actual population) and neutrality (inevitable influences from any international alliance shouldn't force eBelgium to join either one of them). Those who accuse the NDF of being an EDEN party, I want to reassure you - being a satelite state is the complete opposite of how I imagine the future of our country to be. At the same time, realism urges me to add that constant negociations and discussions will be held with both EDEN and PHOENIX, which means that compromises will have to be reached and concession will have to be made, wether we like it, or not - that's just the fate of a small nation. Hardliners have done very little for our country, and instead of being a hawk, I personally prefer to be a dove.
As of our shattered economy, I will help by staying out of it and leaving the reconstruction to experienced technocrats.
I hope this provides the critical voter with enough information about me and my political views. If you have any questions, suggestions or objections, don't hesitate to send me a PM. I would also like to endorse some of my fellow party members:
in Brussels
NicknameFromRonny (presentation)
wout (presentation)
uaithne (presentation)
Eric De Bruyne
in Flanders
daniecox (presentation)
Rithulme (presentation)
Further, I endorse any other candidate who puts the interests of eBelgium before his own, no matter what party he belongs to.
I would like to wish the best of luck to all my comrades and adverseries alike, and I hope we'll have good, clean elections. Your massive support will be of utmost importance to ensure the majority of true eBelgians in Congress, so choose rationally and vote only for those you trust to have the best intentions for our nation.

It's good to be back in Flanders.

where do you come from in the real life?
my english is so bad, because i'm "wallonne" but i say : good luck for you for the elections.
VOTED !! Good luck Aldous ! Let us hope the future of eBelgium as a neutral state can be accomplished
Good luck Aldous but I hope that you would endorse other Belgians as well. One big mistake that the Benelux made during the last elections was that they soloe'd their campaign and did not reach out to other possible people that could be able to help. Since you were not a BRP member at that time yet, you wouldn't know, but Kheops would and wout. Belgium for Belgians has been in this nation ever since, fighting the Romanians and fighting for our ideals. I believe we all should cease from endorsing "our" own people and wait for the official listings!
I'll have to disagree with you slightly, Manong - I don't see any problem endorsing the people I trust in the absence of official listings, which I gladly will sign when they come, but which will neglect my personal preference for those who stand closer to me.
Also, I very well remember the days under The Group and the political line of the Benelux party, which I often criticized in my comments back then for their black and white opinions, as an independent citizen (I officially joined the BRP only in the eUK, but I stood close to Kheops when he started rebuilding this party after you left it to its fate). Furthermore, your presentation of the BoB could be disputed for confusing young players about its history - for someone who preaches unity, you don't choose your words carefully to avoid discord.
Elynea, in real life I live and study in the city of Ghent, which explains my arrival to Flanders when I first started playing eRepublik.
Good luck aldous! Great article, of course!
I respect your opinion Aldous and I mean no discord. These are tumultuous times indeed, we must stay away from hitting each other because we only got each other. 😃
Officially aproved by the BRP.
