The ethics of PTOs
infin
1. The Government should be apolitical and should not be entering into the operations of political parties by issuing Government alerts on PTOs. This is a gross misuse of taxpayer assets and in itself should be referred to the Inspector-General.
2. Any party organisation which is lazy and disorganised enough to allow a relative newcomer with no credentials to take over a substantial political party deserves everything coming to them. The incumbent has everything in their favour as they can control the flow of information from the party's resources if they really wanted to.
3. The mechanism of conducting a PP election in the forums is flawed. It counts for nothing and only serves to disconnect the 2 clickers who do not register on forums. This kind of exclusive dealing on forums is the elitism that many eReppers complain of. All PP elections should be conducted openly and transparently via eRep in-game.
4. If a PTO occurs via illegal means i.e. multiple accounts operated by a single person then this should invalidate the outcome.
5. Recent conduct by other eAus community members has demonstrated that all parties are fair game for PTO. I don't understand all this sanctimonious whining from the community when there are other examples right under their nose that go unnoticed (deliberately ignored?).
6. A strong vibrant party organisation which constantly contacts its members, seeks feedback and keeps their membership informed will not be taken over. It is only when rank and file members feel ignored that they will shop for alternative leadership or be so apathetic as to not care who leads their party.
6. Competition is healthy and keeps everyone on their toes. There is nothing more "ex", than an e😜
olitician, so watch out!

You can't blame a party for a PTO if it was done illegally with multis, there is no way of guarding against that. I do agree though the ADP election system is flawed and only allows the active forum members to participate (about 5% of their membership).
A fair assessment for once.
Excellent article Infin. I could not have put it better myself. If Pizza the Hut is a multi, then it is a matter for the Admins and the IG. If he is not, then I am appalled by the efforts of a minority to undermine our democracy.
I find the hypocrisy of some players amusing. They are willing to use PTO tactics to support their own agendas, yet when a relative unknown succeeds, despite the imbalances in our system, all hell breaks loose.
Regardless of the truth of the matter, the current political climate will be an educating wake-up call for many players.
Sorry Infin. You completely ignore the idea of someone getting in via Multi's. And before you go throwing stones in glass houses, I've seen you get on your high horse and engage in sanctimonious whining of your own more than once.
ITT: Article Fail.
I think infin was clear enough in covering the multi issue. No-one likes to see multi-ing win elections.
Good article mate 🙂

Do I need to slap you with a trout with this written on it?
Good job
