An Open Letter and a Plug

Day 764, 23:38 Published in Australia Australia by Iwarrior1

Well, let's start a discussion on something other than flaming and the war. The Senate elections are upon us (eAustralia does not have a Congress; our legislative body is known as the Senate).

An effective Senator is active, knows his policies, and knows how to follow through on his words. Most of the players running meet these requirements; players like Binda33, Aussie Bloke, or Timeoin.

Unfortunately, many do not; of the PaPP's 16 candidates, only one is active enough to adequately represent the people of eAustralia. Now, this isn't intended to be an attack on the PaPP. Neither is this problem confined to the ranks of the PaPP; most of the other four parties are running disturbingly high numbers of inactive candidates.

So how does an inactive Senator hurt our nation? Imagine if one Senator decided to raise income taxes in, say, Food to 99%. Were it not for our active Senators who had the common sense to vote against it, eAustralia would be starving as a result of a mass exodus of workers from the Food industry. Or let's imagine a scenario in which eAustralia was under the threat of a Political Takeover. If there weren't enough active Senators to help defend our government, eAustralia would truly become just another pawn in the war between EDEN and PHOENIX.

So you still say that inactive Senators are okay, as long as they are a minority. Well, let me tell you something. Recently, I messaged every inactive Senate candidate the ANP has in an effort to increase activity. Most did not reply; some have made efforts to become active. But there was one reply that startled me.

Twain wrote: "You know what, you just need to worry about yourself. So just leave me alone and dont ever send me another message or else"

I lol'ed. But really. Does this D-bag deserve a Medal and 5 gold? And more importantly, were he to be elected, wouldn't his seat be better utilized by someone who actually pays attention to eRepublik?

Well, let's move onto how we can combat this. Unfortunately, due to game mechanics (last I checked) Party Presidents cannot remove Senate candidates. I don't know why; it seems stupid. But it's an obstacle that we will have to outmaneuver.

There are two groups of players that can resolve this problem: the candidates themselves and you, the voters. Since only an idiot would trust all of these inactive candidates to pull out of the race, here's how you can help maximize efficiency in the eAustralian goverment.

ONLY VOTE FOR ACTIVE CANDIDATES

Of course, it's hard to tell when someone is active and when someone isn't, and I'm sure most of you don't have the time to log onto the forums and find out. So I've compiled a list of active candidate for your convenience. Note that the list may include some players that are no longer active, and may exclude some that are. But I've tried to be as accurate as possible.

I know that this list isn't enough to completely fill up every Senate seat; but these players ought to be prioritized. No matter what political orientation you have, don't waste your vote.

But if you aren't familiar with the above candidates, you can always go with the safe option...

VOTE IWARRIOR1 OF THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL PARTY

I've been with eAustralia since before we were liberated. I have been elected to the Senate six previous times, and have been active for every single one of them. I have served in our military as a Dropbear and am currently a squad commander in ACUK; I am also a former Deputy Minister of Defence and am a Boot Camp instructor. I am also a former Party President, and helped to bring the ANP out of a decline several months ago.

Some of you may already be asking...did this guy participate in the flaming that we've been hearing about? Well I can honestly say I did not. I have built my political career on helping our nation to advance and progress, and not on personal gain or feuds. If you want to know my policy, just know that I am conservative, but though much of my experience comes from the military, I am not necessarily pro-war. Just pro-eAustralia.

So, if you reside in NSW, when you head to the polls click on the Australian National Party, and then click VOTE IWARRIOR1. You won't be disappointed.
