[WRP] - A view from Parliament - Issue 45

Day 2,600, 05:07 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Huey George

Introduction

I find myself in a 9th term as one of your Congressional representatives after a tremendous result for the Workers' Rights Party on the Christmas day Congressional elections. My thanks to all those who turned out to vote especially those who cast their votes in favour of the Workers' Rights Party, for the party to win 8 seats is fantastic and historic achievement.

Once again my term will be accompanied by my 'A view from Parliament' series to provide you my constituents an opportunity to review how I've spent my time representing you in Congress by documenting my Congressional voting record and the thoughts behind each vote cast. So without further ado let's update you on what has been a busy start of the term.

Law Proposals

Work Tax
The Work Tax will be changed from 1% to 4%

I voted Yes. This increase was to restore Work Tax to the level before the occupation of all our regions towards the end of November. Personally I'd prefer a work tax of 2% as it is sufficient for an adequate stack of MPPs with a slight profit plus it leaves our citizenry with more of their wealth in my opinion however to restore what was an emergency measure is reasonable proposal to support.

The vote ended
33 YES votes to 3 NO votes

President Impeachment
Do you want the current president of United Kingdom to end this office?
CptChazbeard

I voted No. I'd only vote to impeach our democratically elected country president on grounds of gross incompetence, corruption, inactivity or strong will of the people. As I've seen no evidence of any of these, Chaz, remains the right citizen to lead the UK for the remainder of his term.

The vote ended
15 YES votes to 20 NO votes

MPP
President of Bulgaria proposed a mutual protection pact with United Kingdom

I voted No. Based on advice from Government Ministers, that an automatic renewal of this MPP was not in the country's interests as a result of limited communication and a delicate array of shifting loyalties, NAP and alliances currently at play in the new world.

The vote ended
5 YES votes to 30 NO votes in the UK
29 YES vote to 3 NO votes in Bulgaria

Country Donation
Do you agree to transfer 200GBP from the country accounts to eUK Ministry of Innuendo?

I voted Yes. A fairly nominal amount to support the Minister's ambition to run a competition with a few prizes to improve community spirit.

The vote ended
11 YES votes to 20 NO votes.

Message to New Citizens
Do you agree on the text used by the president to welcome new Citizens in your country?

I voted No. While I can somewhat appreciate the humour aspect of the message, I don't feel this is a suitable way to welcome new citizens to our country and infact could be counter productive in new citizen retention.

The vote ended
15 YES votes to 22 NO votes.

Natural enemy
Croatia

I voted No. Croatia are currently one of our closest and most supportive allies. A very misguided proposal.

The vote ended
3 YES votes to 33 NO votes

Issue Money
Do you agree with the proposal to issue 45000GBP for 225 GOLD?

I voted No. I didn't feel this money issue was necessary at the time and no case for it was presented.

The vote ended
3 YES votes to 30 NO votes

MPP
President of Germany proposed a mutual protection pact with United Kingdom

I voted Yes. Germany have been a very good ally and friend to have recently and are in a strategically useful geographical position for the UK.

The vote stands as of Day 2,600 04:33
35 YES votes to 2 NO votes in the UK
29 YES vote to 3 NO votes in Germany

MPP
President of United Kingdom proposed a mutual protection pact with Croatia

I voted Yes. Croatia are one of our closest and most supportive allies. Currently occupying Scotland and the North East of England to provide direct assistance to us if we are threatened with occupation and to act as a deterrent to any invasions from the outset.

The vote stands as of Day 2,600 04:37
27 YES votes to 4 NO votes in the UK
30 YES vote to 3 NO votes in Croatia

Closing thoughts

I'd like to offer congratulations to Aaron, FightAndProduce, Masta, Mitzuno, James, Alex and Patriot on obtaining a seat in Congress. I'm very pleased for them all and I'm sure they all will do a tremendously well for the citizenry of the UK as WRP representatives in Congress. I'd also like to offer congratulations to all other members of Congress who have just won a seat in Congress.

As has been a tradition for many a member of Congress, I've donated by 5 Gold to the NHS. As a reminder to all constituents, you can also get food from the NHS if you are below level 30 (and fighting for a main stream UK MU) by clicking this link below;
