"Why Have Enemies?"

eUSA CP Chickensguys, Georgia, and George

I am quite pleased with our current CP.

If you've never done that job, you simply do not know the demands it places on you, nor could you fully appreciate the tricky thing it is to keep a cabinet of internet-gaming-volunteers on task. With the exception of his flawed Homeland Security director, Chickensguys and co. have been great.

I especially appreciate that he has found time to publish while also passing the California bar exam irl. Kudos in spades!

In his latest article detailing what had heretofore been a covert operation, Chickensguys justifies eUS aggression against Georgia. His argument is simple: they were farming Gold for CODE, at our borders, and CODE is our military opponent. It was a minor operation, executed perfectly, with a favorable result. Moreover, no potentially harmful rumors had leaked prior to CG's article.

So despite the relative insignificance of the operation in the grand scale, the Georgian wipe is something to be proud about.

What "George" had to say about it in the comments was, on the other hand, shameful.

My Two Georges

I actually have a pair of Georges that follow me around.

There's the pseudonomous-Penguin/Pumpkin George who politely but bizarrely reacts to almost everything I say from somewhere out in left field. If you haven't been around long enough, you might not even know him as a “George”, but I remember. He's a great guy irl with an incredible artistic talent, but we've just never managed to be on the same page in-game. Trite on.

And then there's the Barking-dog George whose Pavlovian antitheses to my every sentence are further spiked with real-life accusations about my mental health. The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

But I'm not writing to assault her his emotional stability. There is only one person I know of in this game whose real life personality is so certainly disordered that compassion is the only justifiable response. I want to answer the actual question George asks in his reply to my comment on the CP's article.

Debate or being baited

Debate can be a lot of fun when it is engaged genuinely by two or more parties. It becomes most scintillating when questions are asked and answers given, with follow-up questions being offered to delve even further into the details of each party's argument.

Debates flop when, rather than sparring intellectually about ideas or the merits of particular virtues, one or the other debator ignores the questions and harangues emotionally and/or irrationally, as if the questions had never been asked. This has been my unpleasant experience with the Barking George.

So before I get to answering the question he directed at me, which is the subject of this article: "Why Have Enemies?", I'll offer merely the most recent example, his obfuscating negligence of my inquiry into the important distinction between "safe" and "semi-safe".

Notice from-left-field George who seems to be attacking my RL identity, but Trite on.

As you can also see, Barker George avoids the question entirely.

That, I will not do.

"Why have enemies?"

Here's the exchange in the comments from the President's article, which I’ve also screenshotted :

And like clockwork my two Georges appeared.

To Trite, I'll simply say that I appreciate his compassion for the so-called small accounts but I do not understand their relevance to the military operation against Georgia which was designed to combat the farming of gold by the wealthy CODE accounts. As CG points out, it isn't Georgia farming in Georgia, it's Turkey. GGWP.

Now to the matter at hand.

The Barker askes a trio of existential questions. He wants me to explain why I think, in a browser game, eUSA ought to identify and oppose an enemy. The topic is so pedantic that it hardly merits an article. So let's handle that question quickly.

_____
The game is designed around a war module.

War is about fighting to defeat an opponent.

Odds of success are often increased by accumulating resources for your side while sabotaging resources for the other side.
_____

Ergo Georgia, George.

Why ask "why"?

Nobody needs an article answering imbecilic questions.

This isn't an article written to answer those questions. Not really.

George Barker has self-identitied as an enemy of our allies, and an ally of our enemies.

He repeatedly fights against the policies and priorities of our duly elected government, citing a "rigged vote" as his justification (paragraph 5).

By golly, he sounds exactly like a certain mob of protesters who recently stormed the real life US capitol, violently fighting in opposition to a duly elected government, using a "rigged vote" as justification. Indeed, the lady doth protest too much, meknows!

So yup, the title of this article is not indicative of its content, it's a quote from an enemy of the state.

Why might the Barking one want us to question our resolve against CODE and its goldfarms? I'll let you answer that yourselves. Hoist That Rag.

Cognitive assonance

But I can't be done without also addressing the "question for the ages".

Let's all remember that this is a ROLE PLAYING GAME. If you are not doing that, you are probably at far greater risk of cognitive dissonance than someone who might be playing multiple roles IN A ROLE PLAYING GAME.

So, for instance, perhaps you create a secondary account in-game using the name and photo of a real life person whom you've been repeatedly accused of stalking for years. Meanwhile, you very publicly claim to uphold law, order, and “conservative values”, even declaring these inside the same game you've used as a tool of violence against an innocent person. That's cognitive dissonance, and those who are familiar with the case to which I refer know quite well why RGR is to be avoided.

Or, for instance, perhaps you used to play the game with a different account, but for reasons entirely your own you decide to reappear under a new account and identity. Most of us would see no problem with this, and indeed I know of MANY current accounts that fit this description. But what if you very publicly decried such a behavior when being guilty of precisely the same thing yourself? That's cognitive dissonance, and those who are familiar with current affairs know quite well why our Homeland Security director is a joke.

And what if I'm actually talking about the same person in both instances? Hm?

So yes, George, someone with many personas in this game can suffer from cognitive dissonance.

But no, George. Operating a bot, for instance, while publicly acknowledging the value and worth of bots is cognitive consonance.

So hopefully that answers that question as well.

Your Turn

What do you think?

How has Chickensguys and the executive branch of government been handling our national interests?

How have the Top 5 parties responded to the law banning the presence of bots in all parties, particularly within their own ranks?

What do you think about American citizens tanking against American battle priorities because their agenda failed at the election booth?

I'd love to read your thoughts, so pick a topic and do what I’m doing...

Hoist That Rag.
