[WHPR PUI] Wig Kills Mili Module

WHPR PIU
Day 1,346 of the New World
The eUS Department of Media announced a contest in the most recent WHPR called Pump It Up.

The contest is simple. A question is posed, and anyone with a Newspaper is invited to publish an answer to the question using whatever creative, artistic, or philosophical gifts they may have.

The current question is this: "What will Plato do next?"

As the Secretary of Media, I hardly qualify as a contestant. But I wanted to have fun with the question anyway so here is my Contest non-Entry.
What will Plato do next?

At some point in the process of moving from one home to another, somewhere very near the end of the packing stage, there is a particular kind of question that has outlived its usefulness.

Early in the packing phase, I constantly find myself asking, "What shall I do next?" Early in the move, there are many options. There are the books to be boxed, the entertainment media to be bundled and secured, there is the kitchen and all the micropacking that takes place in there, you can't really do the bathrooms yet, but you can do most of the towels and linens, most of the clothing, there's the basement, the garage... in short, early in the move there are options. It's important to ask "What shall I do next?" because you've got options.

But late in the packing stage, when the furniture, the heaviest boxes, the artwork and fragile items are all secured, and there are only a few boxes of odds and ends stacked in the corner of the empty dining room, asking yourself, "What shall I do next?" is sort of useless. Pick up the last three damn boxes and hit the road.

By my estimate, Plato is at the end of the packing phase. There just isn't that much left to change. And that makes this an easy question to answer.

The next thing Plato will do is remove the Military Module.

"It's just clicking fight 245 times a day anyway," Plato is imagined saying, "so we just figured, eliminate all that server-heavy clicking." So individual citizens will not need to do any more clicking for fighting, they merely purchase a daily Damage Package for an amount of Gold, with larger Damage Packages being available for larger amounts of Gold.

So as not to anger the Citizens, Rank and Strength were not taken away. "I learned something from killing off the Economics Module," Plato might say, "when I took away worker skill I should have turned it into a Gold sink instead. So instead of removing Military Rank and Strength, I'm going to keep that, but since there will be no actual fighting they will just be there for bragging rights. People can still pay Gold to train so that their Strength will be greater than soldiers in other countries. I don't want to kill off the wacky competitiveness of the whole thing."

"War" in the new Military Module will be a matter of one CP starting a battle against another Nation and then based on how much Gold each Nation has payed for damage in that conflict, a winner is chosen for each battle.

Each Citizen will receive a friendly and useful PM from their old Pal saying, "I'd like to thank the Citizens of the New World in advance for how much they will be praising me for implementing these game improvements."

Since battles will be over in a matter of seconds, many more military achievements will be available to each Nation each day. Plato has not released any exact details or formulas, but the Department of Defense estimates that accounting for logistics, communication, and IRC coordination, it may be possible under the new module to fight 14,800 minibattles/day. This will keep the PoTUS busy of course, but at least all you and I will have to do is buy the Gold.

Surely, being out of all other options, this is the next thing Plato will do.
Wink,
