[WHPR] Day 4740: Military Update and Meet the Chief

Day 4,740, 22:16 Published in USA USA by James S. Brady Press Room

Hello America, Today we have a military update as well as a "meet the cabinet" section. Let's dive right in.

News From the Training Front

USA is engage in a myriad of training wars.

"Training War" (TW) - A friendly war, with predetermined results, in which both sides try to keep the damage to both parties to a minimum.

What are these good for? Mainly they allow us to fight, get medals, XP, Rank point, TP point etc...but moreover, TWs have a strategic value, they allow friendly nations to hold US core regions (of minor economic significance) , making a hostile invasion much more difficult because of erepublik's war mechanics and the simple fact that we have friends who can quickly respond...this was demonstrated nicely in the latest failed attempt by CODE to invade this country a couple of months ago.

As one can see, TWs take two main forms...a Ping Pong TW in which both sides take turns in attacking each without ever conquering any region. Second is a cyclical TW in which one side conquers regions and the other sides liberates them later through RWs...In arrows are training war partners without a presence in our cores....this is a map detailing the NSC/MoD plan...in reality things shift in order to fix mistakes, and lead each country to where it should be.

We are also having TWs abroad...In Brazil, and with Portugal and UAE on the poor backs of Turkey and Georgia respectively.

TWs are important for our national security and economy, keeping them going requires coordination and cooperation....help NSC/MoD keep things moving and working by following orders

Hail to the Chief - Meet Blande, White House Chief of Staff

Blande, please give our readers some background on your elife..when did you start playing, prominent roles, fun periods of the game, play-style....

My elife began in October 2010. Before this time I was an avid player of Travian, and I was out looking for something else between rounds when I stumbled on eRep. I was immediately pulled in by the community at the time, and found a place in USTC at the time. The camaraderie was something we can only aspire to. Imagine tens even hundreds of people sitting in an iirc channel that has been muted, waiting for that final order to attack and when it comes down everyone goes crazy fighting.....

I quickly found I was interested in helping young players develop military and I found a place as an officer in TC and quickly started rising up the ranks, but rl intervened... By the time I returned in 2014, it had changed quite a bit. In this era I really got involved in politics. I joined WTP with the likes of Oblige, dmjohnston, The Mike and Mike Ontry. I became party president numerous times and finally got my breakthrough into national politics, working in the Department of Education.

I bounced through a few national positions, eventually becoming Chief of Staff in a few administration. I burnt out shortly after the successful invasion of the eUS in 2018, eventually dying early in 2020. I returned again at the end of the summer and have quickly joined the national scene once more.

Chiefs of staff are sometimes described as gatekeepers and sometimes even as prime ministers. What kind of CoS are you? what your day to day?

To be honest it really depends on the CP you are CoS to. Some CPs just need someone to help once in a while, others will want a strong CoS. I've played both roles before. My first stint as CoS was interesting to say the least. I was CoS in the BeachBro (BeachBunny) presidency. That was one time I was a strong CoS, acting as a prime minister in a sense. It was an interesting time with all the political machinations going on surrounding that presidency and the pressure that came to bear. In some Gnil admins I was a more laid back CoS when things ran very smoothly and there was little I needed to do. Perhaps the most intense time I had as CoS was during the 2018 invasion. It started at the end of Gnil's term and continued through WDIB's term. I found myself in charge of quite a lot during the end of Gnil's term and with the help of a lot of experienced players I was leading our defense against that invasion; a role I had never played before.

What are the challenges and opportunities you see standing before the eUS today?

The biggest challenge facing us is one which plagues eRep in general, the decline in activity. The community continues to shrink and with it the activity levels of players shrink as well.

More directly, we are in a position were we are shifting gears from a neutral geopolitical leaning to one which is Pro-Asteria. This brings with it challenges and opportunities. The challenges have been highlighted before, from the fact that a small minority of our citizens do not like certain Asteria countries to it opening us up to attacks from former allies. But I believe the opportunities this presents us are great. We have a chance to join a fantastic group of countries who are active militarily in the game. It will give us an opportunity to be more aggressive and provide opportunities for better engagement and coordination for our citizens.

Thank you Blande!

That's it for now, remember to always:
