1: The Dominar Affair

Hella eUS. It’s Wilker writing.

I actually put a lot of thought into this first segment, as you would probably expect from someone who’s been writing party articles about the issue for the past couple days. My biggest concern in presenting this here, as is my duty, as opposed to just my personal paper, was impartiality. As such, I asked both my assistants if they would be willing to type up this segment rather than me, because I’ve been voicing a lot of my thoughts on the issue, my own party is the one involved, and I’ve been taking action within my own party.

What I got from each of them did impress me, however standing back and looking at both the pieces, I felt they didn’t have the impartiality that was called for when addressing a serious issue in a WHPR. I feel those pieces from talented writers with different views of the events both deserve to be read, so I will briefly link you the raw text of each of them, but I will also be typing up a fact-focused list of events for posterity. I’ve seen a lot of knee-jerk reactions to this, and the event itself is only a few days old. In addressing this, I want to do the topic justice, in the eyes of someone reading this after I eDie again.

First, from Krapis, a theatric piece, entertaining in the way that only Krapis’s writing can be, which paints a hopeful picture of the future.

From Cthulhu, a sort of devil’s advocate piece, which does have its place, and ends on encouraging everyone to make their opinions heard on the forum.

My write up will not be quite as theatric.

The start of this event was a thread on the public congressional forums, detailing a list of 4 citizens who had been illegally granted eUS CS by 2 WTP congressmen. At the time of the thread’s start, 3 out of the 4 had also joined WTP. Later digging in the thread (after some of the other events listed) revealed past IES violations by the same congressmen, as well as a history of Ajay-collaboration from one of the confirmed-eSerbians granted CS.

In the thread, a discord message from Dominar Rygel XVI, PP of WTP, was quoted, implying Dom had circumvented the national immigration laws by interviewing applicants himself, and instructing congressmen on which CS requests to approve.

The 2 congressmen in question:

This was shocking news, and it came just a day after the PP elections, in which Dom had won another term as WTP PP. This news equated to an attempted PTO of the eUS by the PP of the top party.

Quickly, in the public congress board, a thread was made proposing a blacklist for Dom.

https://eusaforums.com/forum/index.php?topic=48140.0

Over the next couple days, lots of discussion took place, both on and off the forum, and the bill made its way through the due process. As I type, the overwhelming majority of congress that voted so far support a blacklist, despite Dominar having stated that he will not seek reelection as PP, and will no longer violate IES.

Because of these events, the party was accused of being a PTO threat. Quick words were had on the first day, ATO was discussed, etc. Several people, both in and out of WTP, have been pressuring Dominar to step down as PP. We have our congress primary elections soon, in which we will choose the congress lineup. One of the congressmen above has declared intent to run, as well as a fresh account commonly accepted to be a multi, which started plaguing comments of all articles on the topic, defending Dominar’s actions, condemning the forum, and condemning the current IES process much like Ajay Bruno did, while spouting knowledge of others players real-life personal lives that only a player with years of history in the eUS would have.

This writeup of the situation comes at a strange time, especially seeing as the situation is not yet fully resolved, but even in hectic times, in times of great shock and tragedy and surprise, or whatever the world throws at us, eWorld or irl, we have to remember to take a deep breath a not to let emotion blind us in certain things. Let logic rather than knee-jerking rule over our actions.

“One of the counsels of caution is that we do not mistake a reactionary turn for a return of common sense. We have passed through a period of fireworks of every description, and a making of a great many idealistic maps of progress. We did not get anywhere. It was a convention, not a march. Lovely things were said, but when we got home, we found the furnace out.”
-Henry Ford

2: Press Briefings

For press briefings the past 2 days, we have competing schools of thought on the markers of true quality in a PB.

Reviewing the 17th, we have Aramec, whose PB would’ve been 5x the length of a normal PB img had I spliced it all together and posted here. I didn’t feel like doing 6 different screenshot splices just for an image that will be longer than the entire rest of this WHPR put together, so I’ll link it and provide you an image of the bottom bullet points. I assure you, the full item is well worth reading.

And to contrast that, here’s one that I almost didn’t have to splice at all. Almost. It even includes a poem! With links! You should go to the public executive board if you want to click those links! You know you want to…

Safe Regions and Training Wars

The press team stared at the collection of rolled-up maps that they had pinned up on the walls and sprawled out onto the tables in the Press Scripting room (they even had to temporarily relocate the coffee maker and the taco tray for it!). All 6 of them, the 3 press crew and the 3 media crew, periodically alternated between different maps, none of them wanting to say a word because they didn’t want to reveal their lack of understanding for the situation to their peers. Sometimes, one of them would sip a coffee. Sometimes, one of them would type the title of a press segment into a blank word document, then delete 2 words and add 1 back, then idly play with fonts and formatting styles before going back to the maps. This dragged on for the better part of an hour. Paul Proteus was the one to break the silence.

“I just don’t get what this ‘Yoos’ place is supposed to be, and look, the dummies in the war room actually capitalized the last 2 letters of the place name, but not the first!” He dramatically waved a finger at the caption of one of the more pencil-marked maps.

“I think that says eUS, Paul.” Krapis quipped. Proteus did a double take, then squinted at the drawing.

“Oh yeah, I guess it does. The, uh, it was that eraser smudge on this one, made it hard to read, heh.” No one else laughed. Paul was the first, but far from the last to shame himself through lack of understanding.

“Okay, I’ll go.” Wilker spoke next. He pulled up one of the many maps of the proposed TW states and safe states.

“What’s the deal with Bulgaria up in New England? Do they get 4 states? Most of the others have 3 or 2. At least I think they do, the colors here don’t even align, they literally just sharpied the country names and a few lines over a map of the current war status! How are we supposed to get the public to understand this if we can’t even make sense of it?” He dramatically gesticulated as he spoke, and his hand accidentally hit the wrong end of a thumb tack that was sitting on a table behind him.

“Ow” he pulled the tack out of his finger.

“The 4 regions mean we can keep a battle going in that TW 24/7” The calm, battle-hardened voice of zRTx filled the room with its velvety, charismatic presence. He stepped out of the doorway and over to the table that the media team was all standing around. He looked at Wilker dealing with the thumb tack. “Heh, that reminds me of the time I got skewered with an Iranian combat knife…” Wilker sunk down, knowing he couldn’t top the story of such a decorated war hero.

“Oh, I think that map’s out of date from an earlier proposal! Here, use this one. I don’t know why they gave you that.” RT placed on the table the large rolled up piece of blueprint paper which, when unrolled, contained a much cleaner map of the eUS, nicely color-coded for each country's TW claims.

“Welcome, my friends…” He placed paperweights on the corners. “To the new world!”

A skuffling was heart outside the scripting room, and Speaker of the House Molly Emma rushed in.

“RT! There you are! I have some questions for you about this new map, I still don’t understand everything, and I have to present it to congress in…” She checks her watch. “20 minutes?!?!? Okay, quick, I need to know what’s the deal with Washington, and is that Romania all the way down in New Mexico??? They’re in Massachusetts now, how are they getting down there?”

“Spare TW state. And through Canada.”

“And this is the one that Serbia approved?” The media team were speechless, as they could barely follow what was going on with all the states' bonuses. They just let those two talk. RT nodded. “Okay.” Molly Emma whipped out her phone camera, took a picture of the correct map, then jogged out of the room to her next destination.

Wilker took notes from the conversation, notes which he only half-understood himself, but notes that must be articulately repeated in an official WHPR. The peace treaty was causing all departments some stress, it seemed, but he knew that better times were ahead.
