Join the new world

Hey there,
It's nearly that time again, in which parties elect new leaders. I'm declaring my candidacy for party president of the UK Reform Party. For this term, I will be appointing Cygnus X1 as my vice party president.

The plan

My intention is to rebuild the party after a few months of stagnation. We have been on some fantastic recruitment in the past couple of days as a result of Thedark's effort. If we all did this then I would imagine the UKRP could be back over 100 members quite easily. That is my aim. We are still quite a good force in congressional elections but we're not getting anywhere, despite gains in the number of votes over the last few months.

Community is my primary aim, however. The community is what kept the party together. It was the party. We don't base ourselves around ideology. That was the old UKRP. Several competitions will be established for UKRP members over the month's course.

There's also the chance to cooperate with other parties within the UK. I have already spoken to Acroc about potentially continuing this with the PCP but I'll be looking to improve our relations with the WRP and with ESO as well. I'd like to encourage inter-party cooperation and competition. We're all at a similar size, so why not? None of us are strictly political, most of us focus on community over quarrelling about the politics of the nation.

Our policies require an update so discussions will occur as soon as I'm elected and the final discussions will occur at our first party meeting of the month on the 20th of July at 8 pm BST on #ukrp.private.

Timetable

I will be strictly following a timetable for the term. I have outlined the main points for this on the forum.

- The congress application form will go up on the 16th of July.
- Choices for congress placement will be on the 22nd of July based on activity, involvement within the country and involvement within the party. Therefore, it's best to get your candidature in early.
- Country presidential candidate discussion will begin on the 22nd of July as well, after placements have been announced.
- The primary election for our presidential choice will occur on the 28th of July until the 30th of July, meaning there's two days to vote. The candidate we select will have five days to campaign, if they are from our party.
- Then the run up to the August PP election will occur on the 6th of August.

Other things

- Articles will be released at least three times a week.
- Regular party meetings will be scheduled twice throughout the term on IRC.
- Discussions will be enabled to help figure out what problems we as a party are having.
- Rewards will be introduced for members who wish to help the party, both in-game and for the party's community spirit

Party positions

The spokesperson will be, alongside the PP and the vPP, the person who will release articles on the party's behalf.

The councillor will be the one to help determine congress selections by the 22nd with the guidelines that I have selected above.

The secretary general will be the head of UKRP recruitment for the month ahead.

All these positions will be filled by people who are willing to do the job, not for people looking for a position and then doing nothing. Applications for each can be sent to me in-game

My past experience

I have previously been UKRP PP on three occasions - April, July and August 2011 - all of which were at a time when we were the "old UKRP". The old party that constantly opposed most of what TUP did. My last term as PP in August 2011, was marked by the constant opposition to TUP, which led to a section of the forum being closed down and Iain Keers being removed as admin. Besides this, July 2011 was our most successful month on record, with our membership being well over 300 in addition to having 50% of congress and the CP spot in August. I don't intend to replicate such an achievement as it's literally impossible but I think we could get on the road to being a successful party once again.
