[TFD] Lest We Forget

Day 1,286, 15:15 Published in Canada Pakistan by Frodo Tea Baggins

May 31st is approaching.

Some know why this day is significant, some will not. That's OK I'm going to explain it.

Over the past year many of us have lost loved ones. That isn't a joke, it's not fodder for trolling, it's a fact of life. There are only two things certain in life death and taxes, we may not like either but they are unescapable.

One year ago, erep/eCan lost one of it's strongest members. Christopher Emerson/Tyler F Durdan lost his life. I won't sugercoat details, whether you loved him or hated him ingame, he made an impact. He was the leadership of the CPF, through and through, and when he died the old CPF did also. Nobody could fill his shoes, that's just a damn fact, he was irreplaceable.

His influence didn't stop with the CPF though, he effected all of eCanada on a daily basis. Whether in IRC, congress or ingame he had an ability to reach people. He truly embraced the game. If you loved him it was because he fought for you, if you hated him it just meant he was fulfilling his goals. Either way it meant he was good at what he was doing. I think it's safe to say he loved the hate as much as anything he did.

When playing a game people may appear different but that doesn't always reflect their true selves. On May 31st, 2010 Christopher Emerson/Tyler F Durdan in a split second sacrificed his own life to protect his wife. I won't dwell on the unselfishness of that but it truely speaks of his character.

On May 31st I ask you to take a moment and remember,if you knew him or not, to remember anyone you may have lost who can show these values. Yes it's true this maybe a game but there is another person on the other end of that keyboard. I'd like to declare May 31st Christopher Emerson Day.
