[State] Interview with a South American Power

Day 2,814, 13:09 Published in USA USA by Department of State

Welcome to the interview with the Dictator of the White-and-Sky-Blue Argentina, VyC ARG! I took an opportunity during a lull in Argentinian affairs to get a read on this mobile country (at the time of this interview, the eUS is in France and the Argentinians are currently maintaining a wipe of UK and Ireland on top of getting up close and personal with our southern border as well as keeping their cores at home in South America). It seems like no one has time to get on IRC, so this one was, yet again, through private messages on eRepublik!

Hey, VyC Arg! Thanks for agreeing to this interview. Let's start with the basics. What can you tell me about yourself IRL? What is your job and do you have any hobbies? Perhaps share your age and location if you're comfortable with that (or anything about your kids).

I’m 41 yo, married, and have two little daughters: Valentina (6yo) and Carolina (2yo); that’s how I picked my nick (VyC, "y" means "and" in Spanish). About my work, I’m the President of a Financial Company, and when younger I was a show jumper rider; I love horses.

"Glaciar Perito Moreno" at South Argentine, chosen as world heritage by Unesco.

What are some cool places you have been in the world? It can be outside Argentina or inside. Also, have you ever been to the USA?

Fortunately I’ve been in many nice places outside Argentina. One of the nicest places I visited are the Mexican ruins -- full of history. I also visited SE USA (Disney, Miami, etc.) but I still need to go to Las Vegas; that will be soon when I take my daughters to Disneyland. I didn’t visit Europe but in September I'm going to Turkey, Holland and Belgium and then going to the UK to see the WRC (though perhaps they won't receive me with open arms if I dont give back their e-lands, xd).
[Editor’s note: The World Rally Championship (WRC) is a rallying series organised by the FIA, culminating with a champion driver and manufacturer. The driver's world championship and manufacturer's world championship are separate championships, but based on the same point system.]

Teach me about Argentina. What are the country's national interests (like sports)? What is the weather like? What kind of food do you eat? You can share anything you want and as much as you want. In school, I actually learned a little bit about Argentina (I took a few Spanish classes), but it was a long time ago, so tell me everything! (I know where Argentina is on the map, at least!!)

Lol. Argentina is a big country (over 40 million citizens) where you can find different climates. Northern Argentina is dry and hot with beautiful places. The center of our country has the best fields for agriculture and the south of Argentina is very cold with very nice places for skiing. We have great mountains at the west (where we border with Chile) and beaches at the east (Atlantic Ocean).
Argentina is known for their football players (football means soccer, xd) like Maradona or Messi in these times. You can find here my dear Club Atletico River Plate.
Let me do a little advertisement (xd) -- we also have one of the world’s best wines, and in PAMPAS MU we have our friend "Phantom Menace" who is the manager of one of the greatest wineries industries, Catena Zapata.

El "Obelisco" (it represents Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina) and River Plate (my soccer team and the biggest of Argentina)

Okay, real life was fun, but let's finally talk about the important stuff: eRepublik! What do eArgentine players care about? Tell me some things about your eNation. Possible topics are your MUs, alliances, politics, economy, or whatever you want.

Ufffff.... It’s so hard to answer this question when I’m ending my 2nd consecutive CP term!!! What I can say at this moment is that it’s very hard to make everybody happy: one group wants to fight against Chile every day, another wants to have better bonuses, others want to have nice battles, others.... It’s impossible to have everybody happy. But what I am sure about is that Argentine players are first soldiers and then whatever you want. We want to be at the battlefield every time.
I hate politics in-game, I personally think it’s only a waste of time, but some players find fun there. Economically we find in a bad place for many things: We lost too much when the new bonuses came* because we (like Chile) had very few cores if you compare us with other countries. So many countries can be farming till the end of the game with 3x100% bonuses but we can't ever reach them. I think Plato should review the cores each country has. More in-game players, more cores!!!
Finally, let me say a few words about my MU, PAMPAS. It’s a MU with few people but where we have 80%-90% of 4th div damage when we want to fight. We’re really friends and talk by wsup every day, all the time.
[* Editor’s note: The Resource Wars toward the beginning of 2015 redistributed resources on the global map based on tokens achieved militarily and/or diplomatically. Because of this, the eUS now has permanent 10/10/10 resources in her cores. Also, wsup = WhatsApp, probably!]

I know you are in Asteria and CUAP. What can you tell me about both groups? eUS citizens who have read the past interviews with COL and with Portugal know a little about CUAP, but what does CUAP mean to you? What does it mean to a part of Asteria? What is the communication between members like?

CUAP is a brotherhood more than an alliance I would say. You know that Colombia or Uruguay don't have much damage but every time we needed their help they didn't hesitate a minute to sacrifice, xd. Uruguay with only one core had attacked Chile to help us knowing they can't do too much, but that summarizes the essence of CUAP. Remember that it was first created as CUA and then Portugal joined. Portugal together with Romania and Greece are the most-loved countries by Argentinean players.
About Asteria, I think we should do another interview. There are too many things to say but I will put readers to sleep. What I can say is that when we needed them, Asteria was there. And when they needed us, Argentina was also there. SLovenia also has a great piece of Argentineans’ hearts. And Serbia, fighting and fighting when we needed them also has their place. But I personally think that Asteria won the "alliance game" many months ago with the end of Sirius. If we want a better game we should greet each other and begin all over again. It makes no sense for anybody to have 90% of all the damage in one alliance (counting pro-Asteria, friends of Asteria, friends of friends of Asteria, xd).

"Cataratas del Iguazu" at the NE of Argentina (border with Brazil), chosen as one of the seven natural wonders of the world

This is your second term as CP. What are your goals for Argentina this month? Is there a specific agenda? What are your plans for Mexico, who Argentina has recently sent an airstrike to? Both countries are allies of the eUSA, so I’m sure many eUS citizens are wondering what is going on with our friends!

I'm ending my second term after sending two AS. One was on the first day of my first term where we surprised everybody (Argentineans included, xd). I had the idea from the very beginning that if I won I’d attack UK, simply because they had a nice income and also because they had the bonuses we needed. It was all well planned before winning the elections (though they won the NE initiative by 6 seconds). Once we got their lands we were attacked by Ireland and Venezuela (they were also in Ireland). I think Ireland made a great mistake because I told them I won't attack their country, but they considered it best to attack us (and I advised them I won't let them free till my CP term ends). That made us have three direct battles at the same time (a Saturday night) but we fortunately managed to win them all (we received lot of support from our friends and alliance). I personally think Ireland should have fought hard for UK instead of sending a NE (but that's only my opinion).
For this second term we decided to make another strategy. We would keep calm the first half to see what happens around the world, and when Chile attacked Europe we decided not to have our own battles to give all our support there (and also to help Greece against Fyrom and Bulgaria).
Suddenly, seeing Chile was hard to beat, I decided to carry my own plan and look for a friend of Chile to attack in order to drop damage from there. That's why Mexico was the chosen country (and Mexico was also who defended against Argentinean AS just a year ago, so it was a kind of revenge, xd). We landed easily because they didn't receive much support. US citizens can be assured that I have nothing against Mexico, they will probably get free soon. But USA should also understand that they are fighting against Chile and Argentina attacking Mexico is giving them a hand, and we will be resigning the MPP with USA soon. USA also broke the Mexico MPP by attacking Chile, but I need to be sure they won't sign with Mexico before our battles end, if not we’ll lose the mpp again. So, I have nothing against Mexico, just helping our allies.

eUSA has been trying to attack Chile for a couple days! What can you tell us about this regional neighbor of yours? Colombia, Poland, USA and even Brazil have been involved in this excitement in Europe.

Ufff, I still can't understand why it took so many days to send Chile away. Argentina has been in war against Chile for many many months, and so can’t believe we need 4 countries there to beat them. Chile is a strong country with very intelligent players, I like the way they play and also have many friends there. But this time I think Chile made a mistake with their strategy but I won't reveal it. I can only say that if I were them I would have moved away. They got closed!!!
If Chile wouldn’t have attacked Europe we would have another boring month, so thanks Chile!! And for my last words:
We're here to have fun, so enjoy the game!! If you don’t enjoy it, go and read a book and don’t waste time and money here. Thx for the interview.
