[SFPOM] Interview With PP. Candidate TheNorm

Day 3,647, 18:58 Published in USA USA by Max Tse Tung

Hello Party Colleagues, and Congressmen,

As you all know we’ve got an election coming around the bend and with that we have another candidate for the Party Presidential Office of the SFP. This time the leading contender for the Office is TheNorm, a long time player who has been with the party longer than almost all of us. He is best known for taking up the role previously in defense of the SFP from Cerb, and other endeavors in Bear Cavalry and the SFP. Though I was not apart of eRepublik at the time I do enjoy hearing the stories of past endeavors and I love it even more to see the faces of those who made those great moments possible, cast into the light of politics again.

Q1a: As Party President what are you looking to achieve this term? Will we see all of our regular programs, and will there be work for the RC?

A: My main goal is to get the party moving forward in a positive way. To change a bit of our reputation to a more positive one as well.

Q1b: You plan on keeping the party close to its roots or do you have any new ideas?

A: I'd like to see us move back to our roots, which in a way is a new idea.

Q2: Last term there was a considerable amount of work on the part of multiple players to revise the constitution of the SFP. This work carried over into Salty’s term as Party President. Will you be continuing those revisions and if so will you expand the group to include more than just the few who were included?

A: as for our constitution, I need to look at what has been talked about. I don't think we need an entire rewrite, but I think some things could definitely be updated.

Q3: Have you decided who will be in your cabinet if you win?

A: As for my Cabinet, I have some people in mind and have contacted some people as well... some have not responded, so I am looking at second and third choices in some cases. Not that a second or third choice is a worse choice, I just want to make sure the people involved want to be involved.

Q4: What is the biggest problem the SFP faces at this point?

A: The biggest problem I see is the PTO threat, chickensguys threatens the entire core of the SFP as a democracy and the history of our party. at times it feels as more of a 'free for all' instead of us being on the same page... we don't have to all agree on everything, but to at least have some of the same goals in mind, and not just sword rattling. Sometimes, there is a time for sword rattling, or rabble-rousing .. but to do it just for the sake of doing it, to me doesn't make much sense.

Q5: If you were Country President what is one thing you would change or do?

A: If I was CP... that's a tough one, on a personal note I take all positions very seriously .. I feel if you can not do the job at 100%, then you shouldn't take or go for the job .. I have since found, some do not either believe or follow that rule... or do not have the same idea/level of 100% as I do. I have been asked, and told I should run for CP .. but for me, I just don't think I would have the time to do it 'right', due to RL issues. So I guess if I was CP, the main thing I would change is… the level of work that is put in at all levels in the government.

Leon Gutierrez, Party Colleague asks:
Q6: “As former commander of Bear Cavalry, will you as Party President assist the Bear Cavalry and if so how?”

A: As for the Bear Cavalry .. If asked, I would do anything in my power to help them that was within my power, even if I wasn't PP. Anything within reason, as long as it's nothing crazy like to fund a revolution or something like that...unless we were under control of a foreign power.

Leon Gutierrez, Party Colleague asks:
Q7: “How do you plan to push the SFP's anarcho-syndicalist line that is currently stated in the constitution, given the state of game's simplified modules (e.g economy, politics etc.)”

A: I would like to see the party more as a left / liberal leaning than anarchist. To me, anarchy means different things to different people ... so it's a very broad term that in general, I do not like. Actually, if it were up to me, I would pick 'no label'... as backward as that sounds, I believe labels paint you into a corner and lessen your options, and to me the more options the better.

MaryamQ, Party Colleague asks:
Q8: “Why have you stayed in the SFP for so long when so many of your friends have left?”

A: The reason I have stayed most of all, is because I care deeply for the SFP and though I know it would be an easier road in other parties I seem to like the SFP road, I believe we are a bit off course, or even 'off the road' right now, but my hopes are to get us back on a good road.

Dillon Richards, Party Colleague and Congressman asks:
Q9: "Do you have any plans to build a bloc with another party to eventually field a CP candidate and have some interesting elections?”

A: I have had thoughts of starting another party but I again get back to the SFP being a hard road to depart... As for a CP candidate, anyone who is serious and has a good set of ideas I will support for PotUS.

Dillon Richards, Party Colleague and Congressman asks:
Q10: "Do you have any plans to implement further measures to prevent/combat PTO efforts?"

A: It's hard to totally prevent a PTO unless you go into super paranoia / lining the inside walls with foil route .. But I do think we need to improve our vetting of people and players.

Well, I hope that you enjoyed this article. Personally, I feel TheNorms plan is a perfect one. How do you feel about the coming term? Any suggestions for the incoming leadership?

-Max
