[R4CP] Cabinet and Alliance Vote

I've already put together my Cabinet team and all who were asked acceptted. I will go through who was all picked and why. I'll also get more indepth on how the alliance voting process will progress. Its still in the beginning phases but I'd like to have it prepared for after CP elections if and when I win. Always good to be ready.

I chose Randall because he's been a strong voice in CPF since EPICs fall in the summer. As a representative of canada's largest party is only fair for them to have a strong voice in govt. He will also be directly responsible for helping me put together the referendum alliance vote.

Minister of Defence
Zappie

Many might think this a bit of an oddball choice but I would disagree. Zappie has worked tirelessly for the Boomers Academy as well as helpin Canada in wartime through donations or directly supplying international soldiers to fight for us. He's active and on IRC alot. 2 pluses in my book. He's also been a player I've been slowly teaching and molding in my own image.

Kind of a no brainer as he's always been my default MoFa. Great writer and communicater with a large following of readers. I've already asked him to release an article stating all the eWorlds alliances its membership and enemies. Perfect material needed leading into an alliance vote.

Not anyone I know myself but he's already come highly recomended by a few players I respect including MaryChan so thats good enough in my books. I'm already impressed with our early pm discussions.

Sidenote until Armour144's forward Canada article I didn't even know our govt doesn't do a budget anymore. I just thought it was something that was always done in this country as far back as I can remember. How can you know what u can spend or how u can spend it without an outline of costs and incoming coin.

Bryan Alexander has agreed that during his second term of MoF he will do up a nation budget outline. Its not a question if I believe in this its just like I said there has always been one to look on.

Alliance Vote Update

If I'm elected as CP of Canada I will immediately begin the process of helping Canada decide an alliance to join. I'll be relying on Randall to help me through a voting process as he's experienced making internal CPF votes. I'm guessing it will take a 5-7 days with a 3 day voting window.

As an outline I have so far come up with these as choices.

1-Join Asgarde

2-Stay neutral Pro-Eden

3-Join CoT

I haven't decided to put EDEN on the card as of yet because the alliance is dying. This is just in the early stages and suggestions are welcome and my cabinet will be going through this with me.

Personally I like the idea of joining and helping to grow Asgarde in a small tight knit alliance while supporting traditional allies through MPP's. Then if and when a direct Asgarde member is threatened go balls to the wall.

I'm against joining CoT because that will mean making war on old time traditional allies. I fear it could tear the country apart and create alot of chaos as many citizens will not want to make war on old friends. If anyone has noticed many ex-citizens of Canada just started trickling back to the homeland. Many have left USA over this exact issue.

This is only my opinion though.

Whatever is decided by the country will be honored under my administration whether or not I agree with the decision. I will be bound to make the best and give my best to make sure Canada makes positive headway. This isn't about what I want but more about what the citizens of the country want.

All I ask in return as a citizen and a CP hopeful is that all political parties let there members vote freely for whatever alliance they would like to see us in. Seems to me thats a fair trade off.

Of course the 4th option is to create a new alliance of selected nations. I'm not yet convinced Asgarde could be grown successfully.

CoT may not be the sexy choice but allowing Nostalgia to guide our foreign policy is VERY dangerous. The game is shifting and the proverbial musical chairs have started. What happens when one of our old time alliance members slides the dagger between our shoulder blades?

When the music stops, I don't want to be without a chair.

Asgard is the way to go buys.

I agree with Acacia. While the nation may vote for a feel good factor of not going against our traditional allies, no one is stopping them from coming with us to CoT. CoT is a secure choice but not the most popular one. I would like us to join CoT and to hopefully take some of our great allies like eFrance and ePortugal with us if possible.

Acacia has another good point. It seems everyone's leaving EDEN including ePortugal and it may only be a matter of time before one of our old allies joins CoT while as he put it stabs us in the back. I think we have to present the options fairly and educate the citizens of eCanada on why CoT is a strategic choice.

That's my take on it. I'm not too sure if a public referendum is the best way to drive foreign policy but whoever the CP, I will hope for the best outcome. My view is to keep eCanada integrated and safe from foreign threat while honoring our allies.

It is sad to say that the nation's last two non MDP/Norsefire presidents have been less than exemplar compared to what had been expected of them. There are times when someone needs to be elected to get a job done, and I think now is one of those times.

A public referendum is the only fair democratic way to choose our nations future foreign policy. You can only lead if you ahve the support of your citizens and soldiers. Forcing them into situations they don't want to be in is counter productive.

A small group can't make a major decision claiming its for there own good and expect to give good government.

You can't join CoT and not like TWO.
We can't take our old time allies and go to CoT its one or the other

Mexico/Colombia
Spain/Portugal
New Zealand/ Australia
FYROM/ France
Bulgaria/ Croatia, Greece, Romania, Turkey, Albania and on and on
Chile/ Argentina

It's one or the other. CoT is the mellowed version.
CoT sucks.

Again, our old allies can easily go to CoT and let us have it just as easily as we can go to CoT ourselves. I am not opposed to rational decision making but I worry about letting a referendum dictate foreign policy. To me it's akin to letting the children dictate the rules to the parents. Governments are democratically elected to govern by the people, for the people.

I hope were not letting the patients run the hospital.

Only time will tell...lets hope that the cost of a poor decision is not too much to pay.

Standing by old allies in my opinion is never a poor decision. People have a right in this game to have a say who they would prefer to fight for and against.

Hard to join an alliance that is hostile and is occupying your current regions Acacia as far as other old friends joining CoT.

where as you have a good point by joining Asgarde which allies would be angering? as far as i can see there main enemies at this point is the ABC alliance and indirectly poland. i don't think anyone other then the o'mighty jacobi and a few other feels to much sympathy for that nation.

i'm not an expert on foreign affairs so i might be wrong about this. some enlightenment on what the current alliance's feel towards each other would be more then welcome.

Again, not opposed to a referendum. My concern is people making decisions about game changing matters using nostalgia as their moral compass. The joke of it is, given the chance I'm sure many would vote to stay with EDEN purely based on not knowing enough about current affairs.

In terms of having a right to choose who I fight for and against, I still retain that right regardless because I can simply choose to not fight for the posted battle orders. I can go elsewhere and fight if I feel that strongly.

Lastly, are we going to cozy up with Sweden, a nation that wiped us? Is that not akin to making friends with Serbia? That kind of invalidates the argument of aligning with enemies no?

Either way, I too will accept a majority decision...we just don't agree on how to get there.

France had waged war against eCanada on several occasions.
We Became allies
USA went to war with eCanada (CanAm 1)
We Became allies again

Just as well as Poland,Spain,Bulgaria changed alliances. We never really had a bad relationship with Sweden or even Finland for that matter. There is progress to be made with this alliance. It'll just take a little work to get off the ground.

Venoms your point speaks to what I'm saying. This game has a short memory when those you war with quickly become your allies. Does that not invalidate any concerns about angering allies, when our allies seem to change as often as most people change their underwear?

It's all semantics really. If nothing else this referendum should be interesting. Makes me think back to the great Rolo referendum and how many swore not to accept it even though it was a democratic decision just like this one. Maybe the pot really can call the kettle black.

So Acacia you came back from a pro CoT nation USA to try and get us aboard that boat as well. I applaud the effort but eCanada has always been a nostalgia nation lol

@Rylde awesome! i for one look forward to the article. alliances and and there current diplomatic stance has is a really blurred line, differing from nation to nation on almost a daily bases, and its hard to keep track were that line is all the time.

Well back before I left the game in early '11, Portugal, France, and Colombia were all considered enemies. This game changes fast and alliances shift.
