[PotUS] Swan Song

Day 4,633, 22:51 Published in USA USA by Tyler Bubblar

As recently as yesterday (July 26th) I fully intended to seek reelection. However, after a few conversations and no small amount of thought, I have come to the conclusion that it is best if I step aside. Summer is usually the ideal time for me to be more involved in things, In normal times I would be working much lighter hours and have much more free time. The pandemic has altered that dynamic significantly. When I first made the decision to run for President it is because I truly believed I had something of value to offer. I was and am honored by the trust the voters and Parties of the eUSA have placed in me. It has been a privilege to serve as your CP.

I wanted to spark the community. I wanted to prove to all of us that we as a community still have something of value. I am told by many of our overseas friends in eRepublik that we here in the eUSA are unique in our approach to this game. Some see that as a good thing others not so much. I think it is a blend of both. I wanted to bridge divides and prove we can still work together in a common purpose even if we do not agree on everything. I wanted to fire up old org newspapers that had long gone dormant. I feel in some ways my team and I were very successful. That said it matters very little what I think of how we did. The citizens of the eUSA will be the ultimate judge. I will be plain: any failures or shortcomings rest squarely on my shoulders. My team worked hard. They poured untold amounts of time and energy into this game for the betterment of the game play experience of the larger eUSA. For that I cannot thank them enough.

Much of the last three months have been driven and shaped by FA decisions. The Non-Aggression Pact with Asteria and the departure from CODE mishandled as the latter was will always be mine to own. It is my hope and firm belief that these decisions will be for the long term betterment of the eUSA but only time will tell.

I have roughly 8 days left until I go back to giving away tanks and food as part of AmeriCare/NFLB. We will be focusing on the National Scavenger Hunt which is ready for launch once we iron out some technical difficulties with the Department of Interior site. I believe it will be a lot of fun and will hopefully entertain while helping forge stronger ties amongst our community. I had planned to do a follow up of this event next month if this was a success, but that will very much be out of my hands.

In closing I want to once again offer my thanks to my team and the nation. It has been an honor, a privilege, and a pleasure. I hope that I have at least partially measured up to the trust and expectations you all have placed in me. I will not say this will be my last ever go at CP as I have learned to never say never, but at this moment I consider it very unlikely. As always I thank you for taking the time to read.
