[NAZ4POTUS] Write Your Own Ending

Day 2,084, 10:51 Published in USA USA by Azazel Romanov

Well, it appears campaign season is finally coming to a close. Regardless of your politics and your preference, this will officially be our first full election in quite some time, and perhaps the first since I started being active in the game and government. I know I have enjoyed writing the articles, messaging players, doing interviews, and participating in a debate on IRC. Campaigning hasn't been easy, and I've had to answer several tough questions throughout it. I would also like to thank the Federalist Party, American Military Party, Team America, and The United Republic Party for their support of me.

Throughout the campaign I have been asked one question several times: What do you seek to accomplish this term? To be honest, I have probably given several different answers to that question. I seek to rebuild our country, I seek to end the occupation, I seek to strengthen the community, I seek to improve communication. In the end though these are simply my desires, not what I may actually accomplish. If I am elected President, the burden of the nation’s troubles will fall upon me, and I will be blamed or praised depending upon what happens in the next month, most likely even if I had little to do with the events around me.

I have also presented you with a team that will be following my lead. Whether or not you agree with the people I have chosen, I made my decisions based upon what I felt was better for the country in the long run. Several have shown dedication to a job they are new at and I want to make them better, while others are completely new and I want to give them the chance to shine. Also left out are the many deputies I have placed around, who might very well be the next generation of leaders.

Each month you are given a list of promises and guarantees about what to expect, and in many you are not satisfied with the results. I gave you all an article detailing my intentions for the next term, and I closed it with a desire, rather than a plan. It bears repeating: I know it sounds like high rhetoric for a browser game, but we've all dedicated some part of ourselves to play it, and remembering that a face is behind the text could go a long way in improving how we communicate with one another. In keeping with this, I have looked through and talked with the candidates when I could about their platforms, and I will seek to implement ideas that hold merit that I had not previously considered. Dr Luis had good ideas about education and communication, and Oblige holds good ideas about access to leadership channels, while HeapSeppo is correct that we have a responsibility to our allies and our country that we have often ignored.

Tomorrow will decide who runs the country for the next month, and who provides the leadership. Oblige has been president four times and HeapSeppo is obviously out-of-the-box. So where does this narrative leave me? I cannot promise salvation or greatness. I cannot promise the road back to success will be easy or quick. We face challenges in this country that may last beyond what one term as president can fix. Our culture has sought to raise problems rather than push towards solutions. Many are quick to disparage a different opinion rather than seek to include or consider it.

Like you I am simply another player trying to enjoy the game, and my enjoyment comes from service to my country and my team. Like you I have my limitations, my mistakes, and the occasional moment of being wrong. I can promise you a player who realizes what needs to be done and will give his every effort to accomplish it. I can promise you someone who wants to change the narrative in this country from the usual theater and drama you see. I want to be above that. I cannot promise you greatness, but I can promise you dedication.

Tomorrow, I hope you will cast your vote for me, and give me a shot to work on what needs to be done. Let’s work towards our future, and let me help you get there. Winning starts with beginning.
