EDITED FOOTNOTE!

Goku Jones, Populist Propagandist or Pioneering Politician?

I recently invited Don Dapper, King Hannibal and Goku Jones for an interview.

Dapper and Hannibal failed to respond, only Goku agreed to the following interview.

Horatio-
How did you come to be involved in the New Era movement?

Goku Jones-
When I came back to the UK it was the most fresh and exciting
party around, so I joined to check it out.

Horatio-
What did you find there that made you feel this was the party for you?

Goku Jones-
[It is] Full of new players with hopes and dreams and wasn't told what to do by the Forum Elite.

Horatio-
New Era is opposed to any government running the eUK using external interfaces not directly connected to the game? Would you say this is correct?

Goku Jones-
no
Author's Note: Slightly contradicting their website which states 'Tired of the same old muppets running your game, away from your game.'

Horatio-
Then the party only has a problem with the current forum and it's moderation/administration team?

Goku Jones-
We belive(sic) that most communication should be done within the game, some things are not practical to do with the current ingame tools so we use external tools free from excessive moderation.

Horatio-
Has the party considered trying to reform the way the current external forums are moderated to what you feel would be a more suitable environment?

Goku Jones-
Nobody should have the right to lock discusisons(sic), delete posts or threaten bans for not following petty rules or taking discussion into uncomfertable(sic) places. (part of previous answer)
The staff at the biggest external forum have made it clear that nothing is up for discussion.
They don't lock their own threads or threaten their own party members so they see no problem.
Paticularily(sic) worrying is their failure to take action against users who use racist or homophobic language because they are moderators.

Horatio-
Do you have pictures of this?

Goku Jones-
There is one here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-policy-we-need-to-talk-about-the-forum--2138423/1/20 Ask ACroc for the full details.
This is Invalidation saying that if ACroc insists on getting him a warning for (I think it was anti semitic(sic) language - not sure) then ACroc will stay getting bans for petty things.
This is why I was banned last year, it got to the stage where any little excuse would get me a warning.

Author's Note: All I see in that screenshot is Invalidation saying if Forum rules apply in that sub-forum (Not sure which one), then they must apply to everyone thus you'll be scoring an own goal

Horatio-
New Era has the slogan, 'Power to the people', how is this reflected in the way policy is conceived at New Era?

Goku Jones-
We listen to all of our members and don't have a party royalty weilding(sic) influence either accidental or on purpose. If you have a high up senior figure in an older party then people may just agree because they held that position for years and to fit in.

Horatio- But how does New Era ensure all opinions are heard, debated and agreed on before announcing a policy statement like the one found in http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/new-era-congress-team-2144468/1/20 ?

Goku Jones-
Those are some non controversial basic expectations of the PP, the TLDR is "work together". The detailed policy on specific topics will be worked on this month with the input via PM and IRC or all congressmen and any members who want to join in.
I don't think we need a debate on "do we do rogue proposals and citizenship or work as a team"

Horatio-
If I was a potential member of New Era reading this, I'd like to know how my voice will be heard and accounted for in the party system. Are you saying you don't yet have a process for policy creation?

Goku Jones-
If you want to have procedures where someone has to propose and then have a certain number of hours debating it where party old timers shout you down, then have nothign(sic) done at the end, you can join another party
If you want to just play the game, to propose something, tell us about it on IRC or your newspaper and get it done without boring endless red tape, New Era is for you!

Horatio- Okay, lets say I propose a war with Poland. Is that simply accepted? We go to war with Poland because I want it? I'm not understanding how New Era makes sure its inclusive of all its members if there is no open debate on policy.

Goku Jones-
You would have to convince all of our congressmen and 10 or more others to actually go to war.
Game mechanics.
f you wanted to actually have that be a long term aim of the party, you would just have to convince most of us and get us working towards it.
You want us to have a process where we propsoe(sic) and vote and have it stuck all pretty on our wiki page. I think we will likely just go for actions and get things actually done.

Horatio-
Okay, Thank you for your time Goku Jones!

I had plenty more questions to ask Goku but my patience ran out. As I'm sure you're aware reading this there are very little replies you could call answers. After the interview I went and made some food and a cup of tea, upon returning I found myself in the New Era IRC room in mid policy discussion. Possibly for Goku's newest article [Paid Votes]Goku for President.

The discussion went as follows,

Goku: "1. More X's for Y's so we can B"
New Era Gentlemen: "Good idea!"
Goku: "2. Less Z's, Y more often!"
New Era Gentlemen 2:"I completely agree"
(Although I left after discovering it was a private conversation, and did not take screenshots or logs. Someone else was there and did, so save yourselves the trouble of trying to refute this).

To me it seems the ingredients required for a New Era policies are not inclusiveness and constructive criticism, but as follows,

0 tbsp of Thought,
0 tbsp of Open mindedness,
0.01 tbsp of Debate,
10 tbsp of Ego boosting,
1 googleplex tons of Rhetoric nonsense.
Stir thoroughly till thick and gooey with delightfully sounding policies.
Throw it up on the news wall.
Purchase 100 or more votes.

Unfortunately, Goku decided to end the interview in a rather hostile manner.

Sorry Goku, had you bothered to answer my questions I would of gladly asked more meatier questions..

I still extend the invitation to Dapper and Hannibal for interviews.

I also invite you to join The eUK Forums.

Footnote

I'm not a TUP spokesperson, its not my job to defend TUP,
I'm nowt but a member and voter for TUP and will never be anything more for TUP.
I will not stand for congress, I will not attempt to be PP or CP because I'm not interested.
Before I declared support for TUP (which was very recent, in terms of my active life here in eRepublik) I belonged to a succession of fringe and reactionary parties like New Era.
Back then I thought I could run the country better than UKRP/TUP and that I had all the right ideas. I quickly discovered my good ideas where either
a) In practice,
b) Impracticable,
c) Nonsense

So after much due diligence, I joined The Unity Party because I saw they implanted ideas better than anyone else and despite me being a arse, accepted me with open arms and always happy to hear my ideas, no matter now benign and mental they could be....

I also like being called the Forum elite... I've never been very active, or even much liked on the forum, but I understand how important it is, the eUK has always been a small country full of dedicated and intelligent people when we work together, and we know we can punch above our weight. I used to be a distraction to the eUK's success and so now I will stand and hold accountable anyone doing the same.

I was not rude to, or about Goku and nor will I be. I am only stating what I see as I see it and nothing else. If Goku cannot tell me how a party that is formed, running and in congress with published policies, came to those policies then I'm left to the conclusion that instead of a collective perspective being used to construct policy it is a few people, in a chat room, boosting each others ego's and trying to halt the progress of this country for nonsense such as 'More weapon resource bonuses'.

That is all.

P.S
Chillax dudes, it's only a ... game 😁
