We're All Mad Here (Mandatory listening)
Day 2289 of the New World
February 25, 2014

Dear Fellow Citizens of eUSA,

Our cause is too great for any one man to feel worthy of it. The task is too much for anyone unless he has with him the hearts and minds of people more capable, more competent than he. I would be an unfit leader if I would surround myself with anything less than the best available talent. If there is any weak link next month... look to me first.

As I have assembled this Cabinet, I can see that nothing will be lacking from our National struggle that can be brought to it by enthusiasm, by devotion, and by hard work.

That is my litmus test. Enthusiasm. Devotion. Hard Work. If you will elect me as your President, I will accept it as my month-long duty to lead this large group of eRepublik Enthusiasts whose Devotion to eUSA has been proven in the Hard Work that they do.

So without further fanfare, I present to you your Government for March:

In my Administration, the Executive is a servant role. I will exist to facilitate everyone else having everything they need to do their job well while enjoying it. Yes, I also must make ultimate decisions. But I will know I am succeeding when my ultimate decisions match exactly my Cabinets penultimate decisions. So as President, I will be a facilitator. The job will likely amount to more than just that, but that is my starting point.

As Vice President, Greeling will be responsible for alerting the populace of eUSA to all of the scandals, wild rumors, shameful blunders, and overall incompetence that surrounds him. Greeling alone will be beyond reproach in my Administration, everyone else will be subject to his scrutiny. I personally look forward to his reporting on the wild brawls and whoremongering that will unfold in the Oval Office itself. And please, eUSA, keep in mind that this must be the first law of the lan😛 More Greeling.

The first position I secured after Greeling was a Chief of Staff. I have had access to government for quite a while now, and so I see who is active and who is not. TUGT has outdone nearly every other Government worker in terms of quality and quantity of activity. This is important because he will be charged with keeping everyone active. I chose someone who will lead by example. Perfection.

We are at a fairly critical juncture internationally. Sirius is just getting started. We are building some new relationships, tolerating a few others, and the entire thing is all so new. So before I chose anyone, I determined that consistency would be my top priority.

eUSA has been fairly criticized in the past for being a little on-again-off-again with our Foreign Affairs. I don't want us to be that way. So I have secured our current President Wild Owl to continue the work he has done in helping forge this new Alliance. We are "all in" with Sirius. So Wild Owl will be providing the consistency that our Allies will be looking for from us.

Also returning to Government in March is one of my most trusted friends in this game, my Commanding Officer in Easy Company, Deepchill. He's on the same page with me, with Wild Owl, and with our Secretary of Defense. It makes total sense to keep him where he is doing such fine work.

And our Secretary of Defense is a new friend of mine. I started noticing his excellent work a few weeks ago in a project that we both are a part of. His gifts are in analytic thinking. He also respects that different people play this game for differing reasons. The job of Defense is definitely one that requires both social sensitivity as well as thinking through complex issues broadly and deeply. David Wilson is absolutely that man.

You had to be living under a rock lately to have missed the awesome job The Wild Card did with his Olympic Games. I notice stuff like that. And actually, that is exactly the kind of stuff that I want everyone else to notice. Interior is charged with the task of whipping up activity among our Citizen base. The Wild Card is getting a chance to shine in an arena he is clearly skilled to succeed in. He'll be a great Secretary of the Interior.

The Department of Fun is an ancient idea that dates back to March 2008. It's time has come again. Meanwhile, I have observed that Aramec is particularly successful in any endeavor which keeps his creative juices flowing. (He'd surely love that I am talking about his "juices flowing".) If that's all it takes to keep the awesomeness coming from one of America's true treasures of entertainment, then who am I to prevent it? Aramec, it's GAME ON.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has seen a decrease in intensity compared to the days of the Frost administration when the ATO v PTO was full blown. Frost's legacy endures and the PTO threat is greatly diminished. However it is clearly important that we keep the boots on the necks of the little termites. So IndexInfinity will have an opportunity to follow up his prior flawless month in DHS with another month in DHS. I love it.

You see two Secretaries of Education. This is a good sign. As I have already stated emphatically, I believe that we need to create a lot of exciting pathways for people to get interested in this game. So I've divided Education into a two-headed department.

Tutorials and Information will focus on educating new players through well-written and understandable guides, links to other helpful sites, and other "static" information. SavageWatson will be heading this because he has impressed me many times in the past with his intuitive ways of explaining this game. Perhaps you didn't know this, but SavageWatson, along with JohnJay (now Leatherneck) and I are the founding members of WTP, and it was our early work which blazed the trail for the fine leaders who came after. Believe me, he's right for this job.

The Interactive Division of Education will focus on non-static education. Cholan literally blew this idea wide open last month as his "Personal Missions" plan came to fruition and was a raging success. I know first hand how successful he was because of the sheer volume of PM's that came to MY inbox asking for various information and whatnot about Personal Missions. Any person generating that amount of activity in this game MUST have a Government job. I look forward to even greater things here from Cholan II.

And then because of the sheer volume of information that I expect to be handling on a daily basis, I have requested the help of one of my longest and most trusted friends in eRepublik to serve as my Secretary. Harry W. Hill has been handling information for me for several years. I trust him. So can you.

For Media, I really wanted to work with the best. There is no question in my mind that the team of Melissa Rose and General Custer raised the bar for WHPR. I am happy to say that both elected to return to eRepublik to do media for us next term. I plan to give them a lot of Deputies (in fact there is QUITE A BIT planned for media next month... stay tuned) so that others can learn their system.

Treasury: Kemal. Enough said.

I'm fortunate enough to also have filled out most of the Deputy (assistant) level workers for next term. While I am hoping this staff grows throughout the term (this is actually a plank on my platform which I will get to in a future article), these are the additional men and women who will be getting the job done in Government next month.

Just a few random last notes:

ADB4N = Associate Director of Bewbs4Newbs. Yes. You heard it here first. B4N is back!!!

There are still spots left in Media and Ambassadorial Affairs (Though many of the Ambassador spots are already filled)

I gladly invite your participation.
